Things are brewing in China as well my friend. The great story on the success of China in the last 30 years has a flip side.

For years now the Chinese have tried to get western STEM academics to teach at major Chinese universities, to copy the success of western higher education. However the Chinese are good at copying and learning known facts, but they suck at challenging the ideas of their professors and the ideas in science as a whole. It is not their culture, they do not challenge authority figures. Open dialogue and challenging theories by creating new concepts and testing them is the hallmark of science. This not in their nature, most of the papers published by Chinese academics are in fact plagiarized. Their culture does not foster progress.

Another big threat to china is that manufacturing is moving back to the west. Robots are a lot cheaper than Chinese laborers and you need highly skilled engineers to maintain these facilities. Many new factories are opening in Europe that require only engineers that maintain and improve the machinery. Where are all their low skilled laborers going to work, who is going to buy their cheap crap if nobody has any money to do so.

China based their economic policy almost solely on keynesian economic theory. Their government and by extensions government run banks have created a gigantic housing and office building bubble, building stuff nobody uses or no regular Chinese can afford. This is great for the short term because building all this stuff increases GDP but does nothing for sustained economic growth. All this debt will have to be paid for either by collapse of by slowed growth.
