At first, by Leninism at least, things will mostly be run by a centralized state run by the workers. This state will eventually wither away due to reasons (youtube.com/watch?v=c1Ax5QoLVuI) and lead to full on socialism, by which the country will have stabilized and the threat of invasion and counter revolution should no longer be prominent. It is the role of the state not only to stabilize the means of production but to also protect the revolution with force.

This state would be run democratically by the workers, and likely be made up of thoes who lead the revolution to begin with. In time sensitive cases, democracy can be limited, but this only applies to imminent invasion/counter revolution or natural distastes.

This is only one way of doing it though. There is anarchy, which has no state, but I cant tell you must about it as I'm not an anarchist.
