Dunno, she's from Algeria, so either Arabic or Berber. Never really looked into it. Algeria has a bunch of musicians (but they're rather difficult to find) who manage to communicate beyond language barriers. Here's a funky, raucous one from the '50s. The full version got removed from Youtube, but you'll get the idea.

If you like Winter Fragments, you might also like (or already know?) Carlo Gesualdo. He was a 16th century pervert/serial killer who wrote chromatic a capella music with titles such as "darkness is a fact" or "My soul is sad/My soul suffers". Werner Herzog made an interesting documentary about his music and the link with his violence.
