OP, don't wanna play the smartass detective here, but, judging by that timeline and how recent and cancerous most of the sites you visited are, I think it's safe to assume you're 14-16 years old and obviously new and unfamiliar to chan "culture". You probably read all you know about chans on KYM and you even missed September, the best period Holla Forums had.

Keeping that in mind, you have a very naive impression of chans.
While it's true that for a few short months Holla Forums truly was a spearhead of internet culture outperforming even 4chan with it's huge userbase, the said 4chan still exists and as long as it still has users it chan culture will continue to exist.
Now at what level of humour and originality is something up for debate.

All of that being said I do resonate wit your fears; Holla Forums is dead and is now just slowly rotting away. Shitheels had in his hands one of the best chan experiment in years; he was loved and people were proudly contributing… he managed to spectacularly fuck all that up and now when 8ch takes it's final breath, there won't be any decent alternative that isn't shady or barren.
