It's directed by Dennis Villeneuve. It's a solid/excellent movie as are his other films. Easy contender for best sci-fi film of the decade (although that's a much smaller contest than it should be).

I wish I didnt see this misconception every fucking time interstellar is mentioned, science solves everything in interstellar. The bitch says some bullshit about love but in the end its actually science saving the day. The only thing love did was making the characters keep going. Just saw Arrival and I already had a "fuck no" moment right at the beginning when they started talking about time.

I haven't watched the film yet but I want to, since the short story it's based on is actually really good sci fi, as the other short sci fi stories Ted Chiang writes. The guy publishes a short story like every 10 years and always wins all awards. I'm currently going through his antology and it's excellent. Old school sci fi, think Asimov, Ray Bradbury.

I couldnt really find much propaganda in the movie, maybe just the part at the start where you see media reporting all over the world. It shows americans as journalists reporting on the news and when it goes to russia you just see clips of tanks and military mobilizing. Thats really stretching it, its nowhere near muh stronk wymmin tier but the actual acting from her is pretty meh. Its like a wet towel, I guess she does have reasons to act like a clinically depressed wet towel throughout the movie but it gets annoying which brings me to my other part, why the fuck is the movie this long. I had no idea it was based on a book but while watching it I could tell it was based on a short story.

I liked it, I mainly visit Holla Forums but what that guy said was really taken it to the extreme. There are some alex jones listeners in the movie that do end up doing some OKC bombing on ayy's but its never really even seen as a bad thing because everyone was really scared of the ayy's.

My biggest problem with the movie is that they give china some SUPERPOWER role and how they can change how everyone acts. Yeah right, if its anyone its Russia and even then its limited behind USA being the big baller super power. There might be a slight hint of "oh woman so smart" but its really only slightly, what was really bad at "oh stronk woman watch out!" was "The Martin with that ugly girl from zero dark thirty" lol That shit was pure propaganda. Also the concept of this is really just fate from Jojo part 6 which is pretty cool so it wasnt too mind blowing but really cool to see how that concept would feel like irl though it was a bit more sad.

By far one of the better films of this year but still not better than hell over highwater imo. Though I already knew the short story going into this movie, I actually liked how they explain so well such a science fiction type concept to us dumb people without really being to lost, its explained well and delivered well.

Just came back from it and loved it, I did have some minor criticisms though
And I don't know exactly what to make about the plot twist. It was certainly a very neat and well thought out one, and I guess I can't entirely disprove it because no one understands how consciousness works, but it's certainly not something possible within the limits of reality. I actually thought that the movie had shat the bed when she went up into the ship by herself and they began the exposition dump but they explained it all very well.

Christopher Nolan wishes he could make something this good. I'd imagine the short story was better though since the author wouldn't have been responsible for some of the mediocre dialogue in the movie since it was adapted by a different person.

Anyways this will certainly be a contender for my favorite film of the year, the top 3 are currently this, 10 Cloverfield Lane, and Green Room. Haven't seen Hacksaw Ridge yet though.
