Why are they in a dream

>>523533221Because Gehrman didn't fully appreciate the TOC of the contract he signed

>>523533151Fuck off retard.

>>523533151Whats the lore reason for the fps being so shit?

>>523533332Moon presence wanted to make console warriors mad

The game is heavily themed about pregnancy and birth. Where is the porn?

>>5235331511. What does Moon Presence want?2. What's the connection between the Vilebloods and the Pthumerians?

>>523533272What the fuck does this mean?

>>523533747It means that the "dream" is a parallel dimension conjured by the Moon Presence to hold the Hunters after Gehrman made a pact with it. This is what fuels their respawning. You are basically Micolash but in reverse. Micolash's (dead) body is IRL but his consciousness is contained in a parallel dimension called the Nightmare. You are the opposite -- your body is in the Dream, and your consciousness is channeled into IRL. If you die IRL it's like dying in a dream, you wake back up in the Hunter's Dream and can just do it all over again. This is what Gehrman signed up for, but he forgot about the "ha ha you cannot leave, bro" part, which is why he's butthurt now.

>>5235337311. Moon Presence wants you to kill Mergo. You do this, and your contract as a Hunter is fulfilled, and you are allowed to leave. Do not do this, and the night continues forever. 2. The Vilebloods picked up a sample of Queen Yharnam's blood, and decided to start larping as the heirs to the Pthumerian line.

>>523533151What's up with the nightmare areas? i.e. Nightmare frontier, old hunter nightmare. Do they really exist, are they an illusion or something else?

>>523534025>Moon Presence wants you to kill Mergo. You do this, and your contract as a Hunter is fulfilled, and you are allowed to leave. Do not do this, and the night continues forever. No shit, but why?

>>523534116They are real. They are separate layers of reality that you cannot normally see. Just because you can't normally perceive them does not mean they do not exist.

Is Mergo's wet nurse an old one and if so why is it a wetnurse. Can you milk it?

>>523534137The most plausible explanation is that Mergo is one of the bastard children that got Pthumeru cursed with Beasthood back in the day. The Moon Presence holds authority over when all the other Great Ones are allowed to reproduce (they may only have kids with the red moon drops), and the MP is also very strongly tied to Beasthood (the curse goes into overdrive when it drops, it has control over the Old Blood, and it physically looks/acts bestial). It wants you to (mercy)kill Mergo to settle its grudge.

>>523534426According to the trophy descriptions, it is a Great One. This is backed up by its' in-game role as a surrogate mother to Mergo, who is also a baby Great One. Great Ones obsessively seek children to replace their dead babies. This obsession is also why it is a wetnurse>can you milk itgo ask /aco/

why are there so many chained up barrels and coffins in yharnam?

Attached: bloodborne nine-nine.jpg (984x1456, 895.02K)

>>523535416I am pretty sure they were taking people who they thought were about to turn into beasts, stuffed them inside those locked coffins, and hoped that this would prevent them from getting out and hurting people.

>>523533151What is going on in your picture, OP?

Explain abandoned hunter's dreamWhy does the doll finger moveWhy is it connected to the world physicallyWhat went down there

>>523533151Oh lore sage answer my question, when will Bloodborne be ported to PC?

Attached: c87886360a5c0af85c03672bb5e956241e6ea2e9_full[1].jpg (184x184, 17.87K)

>>523535784SOON

>>523535719The abandoned dream is Gehrman's IRL workshop. It is where he built his weapons before the Hunter's Dream even existed, back when he was still working for Master Willem in Byrgenwerth. When the Moon Presence made the Hunter's Dream for Gehrman, it made it look like his old IRL workshop out of consideration. The MP went so far as to turn Gehrman's daki into a living waifu inside the Dream (the Doll), just to be nice.I am pretty sure that the doll's finger moving is some kind of glitch.

>>523535982Glitch? You're an idiot.

Why does eating umbilical cords give you the power to fight the Moon Presence?

the fuck is this game aboutI just created my character and went killing things

>>523536118Yes, glitch. Anyone who pretends that From's games aren't filled with technical errors is an idiot. You may as well find the 2deep lore reason for why there's a ladder floating in the sky in the Duke's Archives.

>>523533151Can I fuck the doll

What’s the ludonarrative reason for the game being smothered to death with excessive chromatic aberration?

>>523536182They roid you up on so much insight that you attain eyes on the inside, thus turning you into a great one. As a rival great one, the moon presence rejects you, thus giving you the opportunity to fight it.

>>523536206Mad scientists ruin everything in a quest to mantle godhood.

>>523536210Of course the ladder is an oversight. A static model suddenly having subtly moving parts, which stay within anatomical bounds, is not how glitches work. It hints to a deeper connection, and Bloodborne is definitely the game to search for such clues. It might as well be called 2deep: The Game.

When getting killed by a sack dude, why do they put you in jail? what's their plans for you. Why don't you just wake up in the hunter's dream or something instead

>>523536474>A static model suddenly having subtly moving parts, which stay within anatomical bounds, is not how glitches workYes it is. 3D models which have the ability to move sperging out as a consequence of clipping on the level geometry happens all the time. If you REALLY wanted to be tryhard you could say that it's evidence that the Doll can move in the dream and their existences bleeding into one another or some shit, but that's /vaati/core

>>523536579The sack guys want to subject you to the same evil experiments that they were doing to everyone else they kidnapped. You don't wake up in the Hunter's Dream when they kidnap you because they just knock you out and shove you in the sack.

instead of talking about lore autism (bloodborne has no story) let's talk about something I always wanted to ask the community:Do you prefer Dark Souls 1 and 2, Demon Souls or Bloodborne? what's the best game in your opinion?at first I thought Bloodborne was the best game but the game is too dark and some areas look unfinished. I love weapons but I always end up using saw spear or cleaver. I wish it had a shield so you could play Dark Souls style as wellSo in the end I think Dark Souls is slightly better than Bloodborne because it has more content and looks more polished. Dark Souls 2 is pretty good too despite not looking beautiful as the fist entry

>>523536579it's miyazaki autism. He wanted you to explore a new area and thought it was a good idea to let the player die

>>523536867Im sorry but what the fuck. This question exists in *every* Dark Souls thread.

Most things itt was not even in the game, it's just a made-up headcanon artificial "lore" by some autists.

>>523536998Exploration comes with danger, look what happened to sailors for example, getting lost and going insane after drinking salty water.

>>523536727Vaati discusses only the most superficial and substantiated theories in his videos - you can find tomes worth of way more far-fetched and tryhard theories all over. And I agree models will sperg out and clip, however, you can look at the videos and see only the doll's index finger has an ever so slight twitch every so often. You can argue wether it means anything but it's clearly intentional.

>>523533151why did laurence become a horse, what determines what kind of beast you become

Every time you make this thread I ask the same question and you never answer Why are Ebrietas and Rom in the chalice dungeons?

>>523537332Great Ones don't die when they are killed. See: Orphan of Kos.

>>523537302I am pretty sure it is random. Also, Laurence is a deer, Ludwig is a horse.

>>523537332Cringe autists like OP and this asshat>>523537460 will tell you that Great Ones can't be killed and only phase through different layers of the dream. But the only real answer is that this is a video game and reusing bosses is allowed.

I must know something, what exactly are the great ones in bloodborne?

>>523537617>game explicitly shows you that great ones survive being killed>this makes autists who wanted to pretend that bloodborne has no story angry>they continue to repeat that it's just laziness even though the devs btfo themsad to see

>>523537691aliums

You certainly didn't see the interview with Miyazaki.

>>523537691Higher dimensional beings who like to fuck human women and give people superpowers

Why is ludwigs skull not inside of Ludwig and why did he turn into a beast? And does that mean that the cleric beast was also once a human/hunter?

>>523537819So when you take the blood treatment at the beginning of the game, do you get transported to another reality or layer like it happens with the fishing hamlet or the hunters nightmare.

>>523536579I might be wrong but isn't it that they collect people in their attempt to create a great one (The One Reborn). Which is why they're gone after the job is done.

>>523537748>game explicitly shows you that great ones survive being killedSource?

>>523537117>This question exists in *every* Dark Souls thread.seriously I have never seen people discuss this. Most of the time you are thinking of people fighting over which one is the best because 30fps or some autism. I really just wanted to know which game do people think it's the best excluding console war and things like that

>>523538119>game explicitly shows>game>explicitly >showssource: the game

>>523534025>You do thisDo what, kill Mergo? I doubt that, especially with that snoring. At the most you’re ending its ‘nightmare’ so it can go back to sleeping soundly.>>523537332They can make a bit more sense if we’re to assume the chalices are looking at past events, like following in the Church’s and Byrgenwerth’s footsteps. Yharnam’s pregnant belly can point to this.Rom and Ebrietas in the chalices could’ve been when the Church first came upon them.

>>523538119Orphan of Kos, who survives his death to turn into a weird spirit, and then survives the spirit being slashed to return to the ocean as a disembodied being.

>>523538049Yes, the Hunter's Dream. See >>523533941

>>523536867>Instead of talking about the lore let's just start circle jerking and posting our subjective lists about which game is better than whichfuck off with your autismwhy does every thread have listfags it's so fucking annoying

>>523538259>Do what, kill Mergo? I doubt that, especially with that snoringI keep seeing people say on Holla Forums that Mergo audibly just falls asleep at the end of the Wet Nurse fight, but I never hear it. There's crying, the crying stops, and then NIGHTMARE SLAIN. Then you get the umbilical cord. At most, you're "ending" its' nightmare in the same sense that you did the Orphan's, which required the application of grievous bodily harm upon it.

How would you improve Bloodborne 2?I think I have the perfect solution>Make more areas like Yharnam>More bright areas and more slow levels>Less DUDE CRAZY LMAO autism like the madness clinic (DLC) and no more sewers>better katanas and better swords>removal of character creation

>>523538509>I keep seeing people say on Holla Forums that Mergo audibly just falls asleep at the end of the Wet Nurse fight, but I never hear itWear headphones.

>>523538509Here it is bloodborne story: it's a dream and a crazy dream. However it's not clear why but you can't wake up until you kill Gehrman. Gehrman is a lunatic who have sex with dolls and ended up in a shit place. He can't kill enemies because he is old so you must do the work for him.

>>523533151Why is Amelia's body so obscene?

>>523538509>I keep seeing people say on Holla Forums that Mergo audibly just falls asleep at the end of the Wet Nurse fight, but I never hear it.Wear headphones, save the replay.>There's crying, the crying stopsThen snoring for a moment.>THEN, NIGHTMARE SLAINFor what its worth Mergo’s been dead, pic related. The description for his cord also states that Mensis had used it to get an audience with Mergo, so it’s not a fresh one.

>>523533151What is Moonlight Greatsword really? And where did Ludwig get it?

>>523539154A Pthumerian treasure from the Old Labyrinth that Ludwig picked up while spelunking.

>>523539081My point is that kicking Mergo out of the Nightmare of Mensis, returning it to peaceful slumber, requires killing him in the Nightmare, user.

>>523539440I got that, user, but I don’t think we’re killing him, user.

>>523539617The difference is immaterial. What the MP wants you to do is go the Nightmare of Mensis and boot Mergo out of it. This requires killing Mergo in that nightmare. Whether this is "permakilling" Mergo or not is beside the point.

>>523539734>This requires killing Mergo in that nightmare. Why do you consider Mergo drifting back to a sweet sleep to be “killing him”?

>>523540187Because Mergo is the one controlling the Nightmare of Mensis, and after you end the fight, it gives you the same "nightmare slain" message as when you kill the moon presence and orphan of kos. The message is clear.

>>523540324>The message is clear.Except he’s snoring, lol. So he snores himself to death?Maybe the thing getting “slain” is actually his ‘great one power’ fueled nightmare, since that only pops up after he drifts back to sleep?

>>523540713>So he snores himself to death?Yes. He dies in his fucking sleep, user, without the help of the wet nurse.>Maybe the thing getting "slain" is actually his nightmareOr, it works the same as it works in every other instance of this message appearing, that the great one responsible for the nightmare in question (in this instance, Mergo), being killed.

>>523540907Can you?

>>523540872>Yes. He dies in his fucking sleep, user, without the help of the wet nurse.Or he drifts back to where he was in the cosmos before Mensis snatched up away from it, much like the cord mentions.>Or, it works the same as it works in every other instance of this message appearing, that the great one responsible for the nightmare in question (in this instance, Mergo), being killed. But it doesn't because we hear him snoring before he drifts back to being with his papa Formless Oedon. We kill the nurse, he cries about, he snores, he drifts back to Dreamland.>NIGHTMARE SLAINEasy.

>>523541332>Or he drifts back to where he was in the Cosmos before the Mensis snatched him up>He falls asleep and drifts back to being with OedonAnd this, by definition, represents him dying in the Nightmare of Mensis. You had to kill the Orphan to reunite him with mommy Kos. It's all the same shit.

What exactly was Micolash trying to do with the Mensis Ritual? Was he trying to summon a Great One? Then what the hell was the One Reborn? A botched up great one or an actual great one?

Do you have the dolls number? Was thinking of getting some of gehrmans sloppy seconds.

Who's the best loremaster in our community and why is it VaatiVidya? What's his endgame as the spokesperson of the entire Soulsborne fanbase? No one can match his production value so I'm grateful we have him to spearhead lore research in these games

>>523541502>And this, by definitio, represents him dying in the Nightmare of MensisOr get this:It's him just going back to sleep, because you don't slice him apart like the Orphan.>It's all the same shit.Except it's different.

>>523541513Mensis summoned Mergo, and it teleported them into the Nightmare of Mensis (they cannot leave, they are trapped). The Mensis ask Mergo for "brains lined with eyes," it gives them the Mensis Brain. Useless.Mergo being not helpful, the Mensis try to kill 2 birds with 1 stone and ask other great ones to spawn them back IRL as great ones. The One Reborn is their attempt at doing this. They were trying to lure the Moon Presence with Mergo, so it would listen to their plea. But the MP was pissed off at them because it didn't like Mergo, so it came out wrong. You catch Micolash as he's asking Kos for eyes instead as a backup.

>>523541513The One Reborn summoning is isolated from what the Mensis school were trying to do in the Nightmare.

>>523541702>It's him just going back to sleep, because you don't slice him apart like the Orphan.Yeah, all you do is beat the shit out of its caretaker as it holds Mergo in its invisible hands/body.

>>523541645>Who's the best loremaster in our community?Redgrave is pretty good. He doesn't have Vaati's presentation but I liked his bit about mercury and how it affected Japan more than any of Vaati's stuff.

>>523536210either obvious troll or stupid. The doll's finger move is intentional and to say otherwise is retarded.

>>523542336The fight opens with the wetnurse swooping down on top of it, and the bassinet is overturned when the fight is over. The wetnurse either picked up the baby during the fight (meaning you then attacked the wetnurse while it was holding mergo), or you knocked over its crib during the fight. Either way you are not treating that newborn child well.

>>523542534>The fight opens with the wetnurse swooping down on top of it, and the bassinet is overturned when the fight is over. That's also where you hear the snoring. Do you have any shots where it looks like the nurse is holding anything?

>>523541645>Who's the best loremaster in our community and why is it VaatiVidya?this faggot is unironically shilling a joint timeline between the games even when the only two games that have had any related shit was demon's souls and bloodborne but that was cut prior to releasefuck vaatinigga

>>523537617>But the only real answer is that this is a video game and reusing bosses is allowed. You could clear this one up for yourself by reading Call of Cthulhu. It's short and it's public domain.

>>523542684It's got a huge baby bump during the fight, I always figured it was holding it inside its body somehow. Also, I just checked the video, the crib is overturned from the moment the fight starts, it's definitely the wet nurse picking Mergo up to keep it safe at the start of the fight. And then you kill the Wet Nurse.

>>523542725You're talking about this vid, right?youtu.be/vT_4jf02wsU?t=821He's clearly just entertaining the idea, he explicitly says that he doesn't actually believe the theory and is rather using it as a thought experiment for content. So no, he's not shilling a joint timeline between the game. Don't be disingenuous. He's just discussing the mere fact that a joint timeline CAN be shilled, if you only present the facts that back that theory.

>>523543271>I always figured it was holding it inside its body somehow.???>And then you kill the Wet Nurse. And then you hear the baby, then it snores, then it's "nightmare" is slain and it drifts back to where Mensis seemingly summoned it from the first time.

>>523533151When you first go to the unseen village you get the note about a Pale-blood moon . Later on the moon becomes red. But in other areas like Old Yharnam the moon isn’t red. Why? Also does the hunt happen every night or is it specific conditions that make a night what it is?

>>523544748>So you can just make baseless assumptions because "it's Bloodborne, baby?" How awful.Baseless? You see it jump on top of the crib, the crib is then overturned once it moves away. Stupid blind avatarfaggot.>Mergo isn't dying, it is just changing dreamsChanging from dream A to dream B requires dying in Dream A. This is explicitly stated and shown in the encounter between you and Gehrman at the end of the game. I don't know why you are so bizarrely attached to your headcanon but it's not fucking correct.

>>523544965I'm in the camp of "it's literally a stupid oversight by the devs" but it seems like such a stupid mistake honestly, like how do you miss that

>>523544965The MP is very specifically descending over central yharnam, that's why the moon is bright red over that one area but not red everywhere else. It's simply not as close everywhere else. Hunts, as in, townsfolk randomly succumbing to beasthood who then need killing, seem to happen fairly regularly. However, unnaturally long nights of the hunt such as what happen in the game are much rarer. These are indicative of the moon presence descending and driving the potency of the beast curse into overdrive.

>>523545038>Baseless?Yes, "baseless", out of your ass. It's just as likely that he's floating, dancing, anything - or maybe he doesn't have body if his dad is FORMLESS Oedon.>Changing from dream A to dream B requires dying in Dream A. This is explicitly stated and shown in the encounter between you and Gehrman at the end of the gameExcept you're just a human grounded and stuck to the Waking World, not an ascended great one baby who died ages ago and now exists in the Dream/Nightmare with all the other Great Ones. The Mensis ritual is what grounded him to that loft, as implied by the cord, keeping him from 'dreaming' with the rest. Also: We, the player, can travel between all these areas - nightmare frontier, mensis nightmare, hunter's nightmare, chalice dungeons - without dying.>I don't know why you are so bizarrely attached to your headcanonThis is projecting.

>>523547009it's awooooo

Tell me about Jung and Orphan of Kosm

>>523546287>Also, it is formed, as evidenced by the Yharnam Stone. That's his waking world corpse stuck in the lithopedion, what does he look like now?>It doesn't matter because it worked the same way for the orphan of kos: ejecting him from the hunter's nightmare required murder. apply like to like. But Mergo isn't the Orphan. He's not trapped in a "cursed" nightmare. We don't have to kill Mergo twice before he transcends to that "freed" state of being with his parent, unlike the Orphan. We can't say these same rules apply - especially with that snoring messing things up.

>>523547316Kos' corpse washed up on the shore of the fishing hamlet. Kos, being dead, bestowed blessings and insight on the people there, turning them into fish monsters. The madman fucked Kos' corpse as it lay on the beach, thus impregnating it with the Orphan of Kosm. The Orphan could also have been the one bestowing the blessings. It is ambiguous, but it also doesn't really matter in the end.Byrgenwerth caught wind of this, and sent in the Hunters to round up on the fish people. The fish people were then brutally experimented on to ascertain the source of their eyes on the inside.Eventually, Byrgenwerth went so far as to desecrate Kos' corpse. This outraged the Orphan so hard (it was still hiding in Kos' body) that it pulled the whole village into the Nightmare to get away. It also cursed the Hunters, who were committing all this violence, in revenge. This curse is why hunters go blood-drunk (which is actually distinct from beasthood), the Orphan is condemning them to go crazy and kill their fellows if they keep killing things. An ironic fate.Upon death, blood-drunk hunters are sucked into the Hunter's Nightmare as punishment for their sins. But that's something Maria is responsible for more than the Orphan, and is thus a separate issue.

>>523547640>That's his waking world corpse stuck in the lithopedion, what does he look like now?Presumably similar, only not as dead. It's not like Micolash changed the fundamental nature of his existence when he portaled into the nightmare, he just doesn't look like a mummy.>But Mergo isn't the orphan, he isn't trappedJudging by how his mom is standing before his boss arena and crying bitter tears of anger, I would say that yes, Mergo is being kept in the Nightmare by force. You are super hyper focusing in on this snoring noise and ignoring the mountain of evidence for why this doesn't necessarily imply the conclusion you want it to. Exit the tunnel vision, user.

>>523547796Thanks but that doesn't answer my question. I believe there's a link between Jung's alchemist stone inscription and Orphan of Kosm conception.

>>523548060>“I am an orphan, alone: nevertheless I am found everywhere. I am one, but opposed to myself. I am youth and old man at one and the same time. I have known neither father nor mother, because I have had to be fetched out of the deep like a fish, or fell like a white stone from heaven. In woods and mountains I roam, but I am hidden in the innermost soul of man. I am mortal for everyone, yet I am not touched by the cycle of aeons.”

>>523547970>Presumably similar, only not as dead. It's not like Micolash changed the fundamental nature of his existence when he portaled into the nightmare, he just doesn't look like a mummy. Not for him, at least.>Judging by how his mom is standing before his boss arena and crying bitter tears of anger, I would say that yes, Mergo is being kept in the Nightmare by forceDidn't imply he wasn't, just pointing how that just because they're both "great one babies" and they're both being "held captive", their circumstances are entirely different - something you'd realize if you didn't cut off the rest of my post. They're both clearly trapped in different ways and at different stages of "existence".>Exit the tunnel vision, user.More projection. We don't kill Mergo, user.

who's the blood minister

>>523549223>Not for him, at least. Now your the one making baseless assumptions. Assuming that the previously-established rules suddenly stop applying because they're inconvenient for your headcanon. And then you accuse others of this. >Their circumstances are entirely different, as you'd realize if you didn't cut off the rest of my post. The rest of your post fails to say what you think it does. You say that Mergo isn't trapped in a "cursed" nightmare. This is a very dubious claim given the state of Queen Yharnam outside his arena. The rest of your argument -- that their circumstances are therefore different and that death wouldn't necessarily be implied as a means of exiting the nightmare -- are founded on this claim. Which, again, is not nearly as rock solid as you think it is. In fact, it's also a lot of headcanon.

>>523550479Yeah, I do think that the people who appear as horrible monsters in the dream are horrible monsters irl. That doesn't imply that they were always spider men, it does imply that they were transformed as such before entering the dream.>at least not anywhere in the same manner of "cursed" as the DLC nightmaresThe DLC nightmares are cursed because the Orphan is cursing people, not because he himself is cursed. If anything, Mergo is kept trapped in the nightmare (external entities are physically preventing him from leaving) by stronger means than the orphan (who lingers because of his own autism). Either way, the result is the same: if you are in a nightmare and cannot get out, forcibly being ejected from it requires being killed.

>>523541645I liked checking Vaati's videos up to the point where he began to make up his own tinfoil theories and enforce them into all his other videos.

>>523533151Wtf were the pillar shrines in the hunters dream? There's even cut enemies called shrine knights

why do foes respawn?

>>523552462>yeupyou're not even making arguments anymore, why even bother posting?>Unless you're Mergo because you're already dead, then you just go back to sleep. That's not how it works for people like Micolash, retard, shut the fuck up. Literally your entire argument is "you see how it works for everyone else in the game? well not in this one specific instance because my headcanon demands it." That's not how it works.

>>523552745the game never explicitly says, so you'll have to pick which explanation sounds best>new beasts move into the area after you clear it out and then leave>the dream resets every time you come back, like the moon presence forcing you to experience a repeating nightmare until you do your job and wake up

>>523552605I always thought that the pillars were supposed to represent other player's dreams.>cut content enemieswho even knows, bro, speculating about cut content like that has less basis in reality than the speculation in smash rosterfaggotry threads.

>>523552884Ah my bad, I missed this:>it does imply that they were transformed as such before entering the dream. No it doesn't. We don't know when and where they transformed. In addition to that, the only major transformations we see in the waking world are specifically turning into monstrous beasts, nothing quite as articulate as the weird apostles.>That's not how it works for people like MicolashHe's just a human, not a Great One or a child of a Great One. He's also specifically a nightmare host, seemingly immune to all the crazy that's affecting everyone else.Bear in mind, this all stemmed from the doubt of us "killing" something that we don't actually interact with, whose form that we can't see, who's seemingly been dead, who's parent is implied to be a Great One, that falls alseep snoring. The "NIGHTMARE SLAIN" message isn't terribly specific or helpful here, just that it doesn't apply to the Wet Nurse.

>>523546287>And guess what: we can't leave it without being killed, either.or we embrace it and ascend and chill with the other great ones

>>523554418>he got the bad ending

>>523554619The only other “good” ending is embracing the hunt. Yharnam Sunrise is you leaving with a very questionable blood transfusion - that eventually turns sour for everyone - and who knows what other diseases.

What does vicar amelias tailhole look like

>>523554058>In addition to that, the only major transformations we see in the waking world are specifically turning into monstrous beasts, nothing quite as articulate as the weird apostles. There are the hunters who go blood-drunk, who are not beasts but also irrevocably cursed and turned into humanoid monsters. They all must be transformed (succumbing to the curse) prior to entering the hunter's nightmare. The Hunter's Nightmare also includes people like Laurence and Ludwig, who are said to have transformed prior to entry. All of the instances in the game where the order of transformation is actually specified say that transformation happens prior to entering the dream. >He's just a human, not a child of a great one, so it doesn't behave the same wayIt's how it works for you. And you are far closer to the nature of Mergo's existence (being an ascended human) than Micolash was. That's ignoring, again, the orphan of kos. The hunters desecrated Kos' body in the hamlet, the orphan was still inside. You can't just do that to a fetus and expect it to live, the orphan is dead irl but alive in the dream. Yet it still needs murdering to eject from the nightmare.

>>523533941I don't think you're channeling your consciousness into irl. I believe the hunters dream, IRL, and the overworld are seperate things. You're essentially hopping between dimensions/dreams. Is there any proof that the opening cutscenes where you're out to sleep (irl) is the same as the overworld when you begin the game?

>>523556226There are confirmed instances of outsiders physically wandering into the city limits, like Valtr. It's not like it's in some pocket dimension that is only accessible via shady blood merchant, it's connected to the outside world and you can just walk there.

Aliums real or fakeout

>>523533151Bloodborne in development was planned to be part of the same one as Demon Souls at one point. However the developers changed their mind and created their own universe for the game. That being said, is the universe of Bloodborne the dream of the Old One from Demon Souls, after being put to sleep by the Maiden?

>>523556553Almost certainly not.

>>523552304Tbh I want to believe the one where dark souls 3 ties into bloodbornes world when the girl painted another world. Also how the church of the deep wanted to change the cycle of fire and dark into "the deep". Which relates to how the ocean begets most great ones.

>>523556830the deep is just the dark, bro, deep weapons are a type of dark infusion.

>>523556385>like ValtrHe's a man who killed and ate a beast, so although he was a foreigner, he had consumed the blood the locals and partook in the hunt; which marks him as a hunter to the moon presence. >It's not like it's in some pocket dimension that is only accessible via shady blood merchantI think that's exactly what it is. Only valtr enters yharnam as an outsider. The only people we interact with are other hunters and a few stragglers. There would be a connection to them somehow but if Eileen, or djura kill you then they both state that you must be dreaming since you disappear on death.

>>523557934>He's a man who killed and ate a beast, so although he was a foreigner, he had consumed the blood the locals and partook in the hunt; which marks him as a hunter to the moon presence. There's also Old Hunter Yamamura, who also wandered into the city. The fact that beasts can leak out of Yharnam and attack locals of the surrounding countryside is also evidence that you can just walk into and out of it.

Does Oedon have any baring on the plot of the game. Is his hand or presence felt?

>>523555920>They all must be transformed (succumbing to the curse) prior to entering the hunter's nightmareSays who? Where's it say no one transforms in the nightmare? And Laurence is a whole other mess with how little his skull resembles a cleric beast.>That's ignoring, again, the orphan of kos.I was confused what you were going on about then I realized I didn't say:>so it doesn't behave the same wayAnd they don't because these two great one babies are two entirely different circumstances. For the most part, theOrphan needs to be killed to ascend while Mergo's already there.

>>523558724Oedon is the reason why your QS bullets do damage.

>>523533151Why do you suck so many niggerdicks?

>>523558724He's pretty much the Great One who's obsessed with 'quicksilver and blood' cocktails so he's fairly important in the grand scheme of things.

>>523558367So old yamamura was also pursuing a beast and he joinwd the confederates with valtr. He was also a part of the church. So it's reasonable to suspect that he consumed blood as well at some point, marking him as a hunter to the moon presence and placing him in the dream. But that's true, beasts can roam outside of yharnam. I still wonder if all the teleporting and deaths mean that you aren't in irl but just a low level form of dreaming. Everyone we interact with has consumed blood at some point, be they beasts themselves, or healing church blood givers. Everyone has to have some connection to the old blood to be inside yharnam on that night. You don't see random civilians who are free of blood consumption wandering around

>>523558724Am I the only one who pronounces his name as [oh-dee-on]?

>>523559224I mean, they say the name "Oedon" in-game. Have you never spoken to chapelbro?

Not a lore question but should i buy the base game+DLC right now, which would run me about $45, or do i wait for a sale of the complete digital edition which always goes for $18? I've already platinum'd the base game but i borrowed it off a coworker and i feel like playing it again.

>>523559137Hunters can teleport and respawn because their body is housed in the Hunter's Dream, not Yharnam. They're dreaming when they enter Yharnam, and awake when they're in the Hunter's Dream. So if they die in Yharnam, it's like waking up from the dream. You can just fall asleep again no problem. Similarly, you can teleport around Yharnam because you're just dreaming about different parts of the city.

>>523559907I think their body is still housed in the blood ministers office where you first wake up. But your conscious (soul/spirit?) Continues to move around the dreams and Such. So I don't think your body is in the hunters dream since its a dream first off, your body is essentially astral projected into this other dimension.Totally headcanon. You can disagree, since the game doesn't outright state this. I just personally think the whole game goes on at a higher plane of reality above the material which justifies why enemies return, why you can be teleported, and why magic can be interacted with. The old ones in pthumeru couldn't physically interact with the people there. But we openly see greater ones picking us up and shooting lasers at us in the overworld if our insight is enough. And since we aren't a physical body, but a mental projection of our consciousness, insight alters our interaction with this metaphysical reality.

>>523561215based god /thread based

why is the game called bloodborne

>>523539154there's a great writeup on how ludwig's "guiding moonlight" is actually a parasite that imbedded itself in his eye, which explains the little moonlight sprites he claims to see when he's scared. the sword is just said to be a labyrinth relic, and not from anywhere specifically.

>>523560665It goes on sale pretty often actually. But i think i'll get a physical copy if i can find one with a blue box, just checked gaystop's website and they only have sealed copies with the GH label.>>523560742>wait at least 2 yearsNah.

>>523561393Through consuming blood you are reborn into a great one, A higher being.

>>523544043nothing in particular, probably. but because the hunter's dream seems to be the lowest of the layered realities, it could be that they're "pillars"

>>523561595Not to be a Sony shill but I literally got a ps4 just to play bloodborne and I haven't be disappointed. I got other exclusives since. But it's because my toaster pc died and I didn't care to get Another.

>>523559224I misread it as Ideon originally, so I started referring to it as that when I noticed the O.

>>523552745because your personal respawn mechanic plays by edge of tomorrow rules. time resets to the point of your awakening, that version of reality becomes "a bad dream" and all the enemies you killed come back.

>>523561393its a pun. the deeper meaning is >>523561603 but its also cuz the scourge of beasts is a blood borne sickness, which is the more obvious meaning from an outside perspective.
