Ron may have been an attempt at satire at the start but he became the embodiment of the "American man". The guy that expected people to face the consequences of their actions, a guy that wanted to be as self sufficient as possible.
Actors being involved with politics is like rappers being involved in the scientific community. One out of every ten can participate in the conversation in a positive manner, but the other nine are up their own ass.

And you know what, the show did a very sneaky thing with Ron. Beginning as the ideal, stonewall type and then transitioning him into a giggling daft cunt too terrified of handling his exes, constantly relying on a woman to bail him out, a woman who constantly sticks her nose into other people's business with the express intent of forcing her own angle no matter how disruptive but ultimately excused because she's the lol quirky main character we're suppose to love, and then ends up marrying a divorced mother of two girls who spends an episode pissed at him for trying to handle the brats and he has to apologize for it. Nevermind that his mother was a dominant I-don't-need-no-man who kept his father in line.

Speaking of that, what was with this show and fathers? Ron's father was dead, Leslie's father was dead, April's father was spineless, Jerry was spineless and neverending Joke, the entire show was a mouthpiece for muh gurl power, and the plot spiraled out of control to push Leslie to the top despite all her unlikable bullshit. Even when the town booted her, she still rose up higher for reasons I sure couldn't grasp. There were no consequences for anybody, April especially, the endless whiny cunt. Given every opportunity only to whine and cry with no direction alongside her dumbfuck show shining rockstar hubby, both of whom were graced with a kid they somehow didn't accidentally drown in the tub.

The only likeable character ducked out in the first season. I have no idea why I stuck around to see Pajeet worm his way into a millionaire with his Equadorian whore. How Jerry was never given his chance to demand some respectability and professionalism, that will forever bother me.
