‘The Strain’ Renewed For Fourth & Final Season By FX

I remember reading somewhere that Del Toro said there would be exactly 5 Seasons regardless of ratings, no more, no less. Guess FX is losing too much money. Thing is, what else do they even have to replace it? All they have right now is this and AHS.

I can't believe it got a second season.

nothing wrong with planning a show out to an exact length. iirc vince gilligan was going to end breaking bad at season four, but ratings were so high amc pushed for more.

planning it ahead is better imo.

I mean not that much more left in the story.

Haven't read the books, but I have read the spoilers some anons posted on some other threads. How much left until the Nukes go off?

The show has deviated quite a lot from the books: Nora is dead, the Master had his head chopped off, Satrekian has found the secret messages in the book, Palmer is still alive and there is a new sealed Ancient now.

I never really made sense to me that it would take them years to figure out that the book has to be read in sunlight. Obviously the silver was meant to stop vampires from reading it, but all a vampire would have to do is wear gloves while handling the book, so that's a really shitty safety measure. So it stands to reason that the book would have to be read in an environment that's hostile to vampires: either under water, in a cloud of pulverized silver or in bright sunlight.

I'm curious what the deal is with this shipment from Egypt. I think it's a sure bet that it contains the sealed Ancient, but I have no clue what the Master could want with him. I also wonder if the new guy is a sentient vampire like Eichhorst, maybe he is from the sealed one's strain and was on his own for millennia.

As for the nest under Central Park, couldn't they just douse the whole thing from above with gasoline and set it on fire? Explosives would be even more effective, but I guess that might collapse the entire cave. Or just flood it, then the vampires can't go anywhere.

My guess is that will be how this season ends.

Well the only way they're gonna branch this out to shit out three seasons (we're in the first ep of the third) is by extending on the conflict within the Ancients.

It's come up a few times that the three Ancients aren't all there and that's they've lost contact with the Old World ones.
We sort of assume the master rebelled against the ancients and wanted to rule in plain sight or something instead of from the shadows.

So if the Ancients were ten that makes 5 of them missing, (the three in the new world, the egyptian, the master).

One could assume that the rest of them are actually backing the master or something, or that they followed the egyptian and that the deal with them leaving him alone is tied to unseal the egyptian or something.

They have Atlanta too. Even if you don't like it, it's FX's most watched show in their history. And don't forget Legion is coming, people eat up capeshit.

Since the seven vampire lords have always ruled humanity from the shadows, it can be said they they represent various political/economic or even philosophical ideologies, which dominate humanity. The key component here is that six of them "get along" fairly well, while the seventh (The Master) is opposed to, hated by, feared by the other six… and humanity as well. Why? Because he represents capitalism. The other six ideologies can recognize each other as somewhat valid, even though they are enemies. Just because you disagree with someone doesn't mean that you think them totally insane and beyond all help, right?
But the Master is different, he thinks he is entitled to everything that exists. He has no concept of "satiety", he will never stop consuming, he thinks he can just eat absolutely everything while growing and growing with bigger and bigger "gains". He can't see that eventually he will eat himself to death, he will doom the planet to extinction with his hunger for MORE. All things in the natural world fundamentally reject capitalism, since it has no allies and seeks only multiplicative death for his own profit. And so it is with the Master. Shit, even the Jewish tribes reject him, their God is a vainglorious asshole but next to the Master he seems almost reasonable.

It isn't surprising that you are a communist.

Is he eating poop?

Have you taken the brown pill yet matey?

...

There are only seven Ancients. The Master is one, then there are the three we have seen already and one is sealed up in the box. That only leaves two more Ancients we don't know anything about.

The Master won't rot out humanity, he wants to have a vampire/human ratio such that there is just enough humans to maintain society and keep him and his brood fed. Shit post, you should be ashamed of yourself.

...

Lol this crap is still going after the first season?

...

Considering the only half-way decent thing he ever made was Hellboy, that isn't too difficult to believe.

It couldn't have lasted forever. Current episode was mostly just filler. Fet and a police team that included the chick he had banged move beneath Central Park to blow up the nest with silver. Except it takes them the whole day well into the night now when previously Fet had made it in and out during the day. All the police men except the chick get killed off. Meanwhile Gus and a bunch of other convicts have to clean up the tunnels as well for some reason. Everyone except Gus, Angel and some random chick die, Gus then later joins with Fet and the police chick. Meanwhile Zack gets a creepy spider-girl sex slave from Eichorst for some reason. Also they have to evacuate the place. Fet blows up the nest, but it was a trap all along because there have been even more vampires pretty much everywhere else in the city and now they are overrunning Central Park There, I just saved you 40 minutes.

Well now I have to watch it, thanks a lot.

It's kinda trip because can he put his dick in it and test it out, or will loli vamp infect him.

And I did see it since I saw after reading your post just now lol

Still what is making me interested is seeing whether they stick with the decendent of Azrael's body parts or use the crimson worm as a replacement. I like the Setrakian and occido lumen decoding detective work a lot.

I don't know maybe I just like the fact they show more societal collapse than the walking dead and fear the walking dead ever did.

Zombie apocalypse scenarios never made any sense to me. Seriously, how much of a threat can a bunch of rotting corpses really be? I get that in the first few days they would spread rapidly because people would be taken by surprise, but once it's known it should be very easy to get up some defences up. Your typical cheap-ass motorcycling suit is designed to withstand being ground along a concrete road at over 100 km/h, I'm sure it could withstand gnawing from a rotting corpse.

The vampires in The Strain are much more aggressive with their stingers, so that works better. But I was still disappointed by how ill-prepared the marines have been in the show. Pic related is a shark suit, it's basically a chainmail armor for divers. These things are strong enough to withstand a bite from a shark. You can't tell me that the military wouldn't be able to afford few suits for a specialised team and like them with a silver coating. Imagine the scene where the master wiped out all the marines, but this time he wouldn't be able to even touch any of them, let alone bite them. And the silver effect was already known by that point in the story.
