First time I've had one of those "lol both sides r dum" moments, but it's not so much "both sides" as "damn near every post in this thread is retarded."

There have been a lot of great comic books over the years, a lot of great anime too. Right now the big 2 are dominated by SJW shit, once they start having to actually hire good writers again the comics will start to get good again. It's already beginning at DC, SJWs are throwing shit everywhere about it. DC doesn't have profitable movies to fall back on, so they've started slowly moving back to pre-52. Their two best selling comics right now are about a married pre-new 52 Superman with Lois Lane and the white version of Wally West Flash also married.

Anime/manga in general is currently better than the west specifically because they're putting out the action stories comic books used to. The people who screech "capeshit" and "weebshit" are the same people, SJWs who are really just hipsters who hate anything that isn't constantly promoting their politics and anything popular. You don't have souls, that's what it comes down to. You are empty, hollow "people" who require everything be about your politics.

But yes, Anime does have a lot of shit produced each year too. Lots of moe garbage.

Every opinion expressed here about One Punch Man so far has been wrong. It's neither the greatest thing ever or garbage. It's not a hateful deconstruction parody, it's a loving parody that quickly becomes what it was parodying.

What makes it stand out and so popular is a combination of some of the best action sequences currently being animated, and a lot of good, light-hearted humor. The series also puts to rest the notion that a protagonist can be too powerful, that the show will be boring if this is the case. The guy who wrote it basically did the exact same thing again with Mob Psycho 100, which is this year's new obsession. I haven't gotten into it yet, but it also boasts really well animated fight sequences, only instead of being about a guy who trained so hard that fights became boring to him as he can destroy any enemy with one punch, it's about a boring boy who tries his best to hold in his emotions because he has ridiculously powerful psychic abilities fueled by his emotions. Both feature the common anime trope of villain characters constantly boasting about how ridiculously powerful they are, and then summarily getting destroyed utterly by the protagonist.

Marvel has quality control in the sense of "there's too many white/straight/male/thin characters, do it again" and they don't particularly care about the quality of the art itself, hence DA tier Squirrel Girl and other such lovely things.
They can afford to make shitty comics with shitty writing and shitty art because their movies rake in so much dosh that losing comic money while pushing agendas doesn;t mean too much to them.

DC is pretty much the same right now, but as said their movies don't bring in as much cash, so they're starting to focus more on making their comics less shitty in order to compensate.

I have not read it for a while, but I am sure the story is continuing my last point. They can easily make 5 episodes alone on just the villains secret base. They probably waited for the webcomic to keep going before they made season 2 so they could have more material, but they can do it.

I enjoyed One Punch Man as a single season. It's nice to see a show that concretely ended try and make that gambit with a second season, but I'm not even going to act surprised if it falls on its face.

This is where you have it wrong. Wan-Pan was good for that anime season. Boku no Hero was better though. Cape shit is crap only if it's western. Nippon actually has doorama and story.
