Was Code Geass a good quality animation or stupid as fuck?

Was Code Geass a good quality animation or stupid as fuck?

I really liked it. The first season at least

Anons here will probably tell you it's stupid however because >weebshit

people here are normalfags, so

Code Geass was reddit: the anime

Why does he wear the mask?

LotGH is the best. It also is a series of novels for those who like to read. Not "graphic novels" bullshit, but actual books

to hide his identity and ultimately to use it as a symbol.

Legend of Galactic Heroes is not a good anime. In fact, the animation quality is probably the worst part of the show. The voice actors are emotionless, the music is just well known classical music, which is not bad but you can't just slap beethoven on everything and call it good taste. The only thing going for it is the story, which works better as a book. I wish this "le gender of the golhacktic heroes is da creatist anime ebar, by da way I've only seen 3 animes and don't even care about the medium!!" meme would die.

It's ok to have bad opinions and taste.

STOP

The only people who say that LoGH is the best anime ever are Holla Forums because it has politics and Holla Forums because they think they're being mature. And normalfags who have only seen 3 anime, and the other two include k-on, which they don't "get" moe, and evangelion, which they don't get because they're fucking retarded normalfags. LoGH is 100 episodes of dialogue, beethoven, and really bland powerpoint tier animation.

fuck your shit nigger

Thats nice lad.

It was good but the ending was a bit questionable.

best anime

Its not very good.
However it was one of the first anime I watched a few years back so I am nostalgic about some parts of it.
JIBUN WO!!

I like to think of it as the Metal Gear Solid of anime. In the sense that it has wacky characters and dialouge as well as the plot seemingly be cool but simultaneously retarded as well and with more twists in the plot than this in this road.

Season 1 was great, season 2 sucked but the ending was good.

But it was good.

After the fantastic cliffhanger of season 1 what do they go ahead and do? Basically hit the reset button with a timeskip and have Lelouch start from scratch again. Plus there's more.

The entire arc with those China people was shit and lasted too long.

The creator himself said that when season 2 was moved to an earlier and more popular timeslot, he had to throw out all his original plans for season 2 and start as if he was introducing the series again to a new set of audience who would watch it.

I thought it was good. Better than just about anything on TV, anyway.

Better than most stupid mecha shows that's for sure. It really kept the suspense up looking forward to the next episode each week. Shame about the goofy human designs though.

Underrated post. I kept expecting LoGH to be building up to something really meaningful but in the end it left me with blue balls.

Babby's first shounenshit. Literally SnK-tier.

Didn't they explain that the government had brainwashed Lelouch and have that kid pretending to be his brother?

Really, not DBZ or Sailor Moon?

...

get over yourself faggot

Go back to your sol moeshit you fucking pleb

...

It ran that early? I first caught Code Geass when i was in high school form around 2009-2012. Back when it was on adult swim.

Pretty boring action show with no personality, charisma or anything worth caring about other than skintight clothing, which is shit.
Watch full metal panic or something instead, there are better mecha shows

...

/a/ has the worst taste in anime I have ever seen. I'd take the opinions of Crunchyroll users over you lot.

...

who are you quoting?

Pls.

Half of those anime are Toonami-tier. And usually people who don't bother giving other anime a chance think that only old anime can be good.

name an anime thats better

K-On!

Not that user but pic related. If it's unchecked I either haven't seen it yet or it's shit.

...

That is a rather subjective question. The only thing it really has going for it is the plot, but some people can find its politics tedious and its presentation hamfisted and melodramatic.

On every technical standpoint where you could objectively measure it there are countless things that beat it. It's animation is inconsistent from series to series, movie to move, and even within a particular series itself. Same could be said of its sound design, voice acting, character design, direction, editing, and key frames.

So again the only thing in which you can address its supposed greatness is in its writing and plot and those are subjective once again. Even within the plot ideas that were interesting on paper fall apart when they are translated to the screen. The idea of early modern warfare naval tactics in space between giant fleets sounds amazing, but when you see it animated you start to realize that the three dimensional maneuvering is obvious as fug and for any one to fail to see it is stupid. The scope of the setting in regards to political maneuvering is only interesting to the casual viewer if it is concise and relatable, something that falls apart over the excessively long format and with the extended cast. The occasional petit bon mon is lost in the ocean of mediocrity that is the rest of the dialog. I suppose if you have to sit through hours of people explaining the plot the occasional witty remark is something you would latch onto.

Finally it is missing one of the most important aspects of an engaging anime: a sense of wonder and fun. The grandeur of the setting loses its luster when you are seeing it over and over again. The colossal scales of the battles and the universe becomes commonplace. When you are so suddenly thrust into it at the beginning of the series it is breathtaking. The scene at the beginning of My Conquest is the Sea of Stars as the ship comes into land and the animation of the gases passing by is gorgeous and the immense nature of it are awe inspiring. Yet not even does sixty minutes pass and we are treated to the first battle of Reinhard and Yang. Already the scope and majesty of it is lost. Compare this to Master and Commander. Not once in the film are we allowed to forget the massive size of the ships, the claustrophobic nature of life within, nor how tiny those ships really are in the wide oceans of the world. Master and Commander manages to express that feeling of life on a military vessel far better than anything LoGH ever did. As for fun, there is very little of it. As mentioned there are the occasional humorous moment such as Yang discussing alcohol. But these flecks of gold scattered in miles of earth never really amount to anything truly enjoyable. You keep waiting for more scenes like the description of the collapse of society to occur, but they almost never come. You are left watching out of pure inertia and to see why others have spoken so highly of it. Only too late do you find out that someone misled you and took advantage of your ignorance to push something on you that you never would have chosen on you own.

Watching LoGH on Holla Forums's recommendation is like being molested by your uncle. There's something off about him, but everyone regards him very highly, so you trust him, and then on a family camping trip out at Montauk Point he takes advantage of you. Years later, you accept and acknowledge what happened, but you still refuse to believe that he's scarred you, because that would put him in control, not you, and the last thing you want is a molester in control of your life – but your denial doesn't make it the truth. You want to believe that deep down inside, LoGH is a good person, and you see that LoGH has very redeeming qualities, but you sit down to try and try to rewatch part of it so you can reference it in a thread on Holla Forums to help explaining why it wasn't that good and all you can think of is Reinhard von Lohengramm's hard, throbbing cock.

I tired watching a few episodes. I found it really boring.

Code Geass is great. Flawed messages to be sure, but still great.

LoGTH is fucking great. Except for Yang being a pussy and the weak ending, which is still better than it being bad.

...

Baccano and Death Note are fucking garbage

Those weren't that bad.

eh Death Note had an interesting premise but it got retarded down the line.

Sure, it's not exactly subtle and has a bunch of tropes that dominate the storytelling but than again compared to what? Looking at Western cartoons they're either apolitical or in the worst case transport cultural leftism. Live action TV? GRRM writes political torture porn where the good guys die due to bouts of retardation and letting themselves get isolated and picked off and all other shows that come to mind either had undercurrents that either boiled down to lolsodeep liberal social commentary (The Wire, New BSG, Mad Men) or end-of-history triumphalism with a Neocon flavor (original SG).
Compared to that LotGH is a msterpiece because it's remarkably uncynical and does portray a case where authoritarianism (that isn't run by progressive TOP MEN) can produce good outcomes.

The pacing of the series was ruined by the filler episodes that took place at school, you can't have ultra serious shit followed by wacky school antics, it doesnt work. It's what made FMP shit too.

also there was a lot of fan service with CC and that chick with the red hair.

Also fuck Orange Range, I get they were super popular at the time but those intros and outros dont fit the show AT ALL.

I'm probably the only one who thinks this but Valvrave was a much superior version of what Geass was trying to do. Pity it was so short though.

damn nigga

...

Baccano was fun gosh darn it.

you should watch Golden Boy

pssh

Go back to watching Toonami, kid

Mech is a perfectly fine term for it. Someone who hasn't even seen Gundam or Rahxephon doesn't really have the right to say either way though :^)

Mech is stupid as hell. Who is entertained by giant poorly animated robot fights? 08th MS Team is literally the only mecha anime that's worth watching for the actual mecha. Everything else is just a commercial.

beeep boop

I can tell you haven't watched jack shit. Just stop embarrassing yourself.

Enjoy your toy commercials.

Sure it's not the best, but it does what it's supposed to. The battle scenes look great, and the body language of the characters is communicated subtly but also clearly.

Just because they're not over-exaggerating their emotions doesn't mean they're emotionless. They all gave very good performances.

They didn't just choose pieces of classical music at random. Each piece was chosen because of how well it complimented what was going on onscreen at the time.

I disagree. A lot of what makes LotGH so great is that you can almost always tell how the characters are feeling by their body language, which is much more effective in a visual medium.

I know it's fun to pretend that everything you don't like is loved by normalfags, but I can assure most of them don't know about LotGH, and the ones that do are too intimidated by it's length to actually watch it.

Don't listen to what Holla Forums says about the show. It's not some great propaganda piece that's full of "redpills" or anything like that. The show is about the way humans behave, and why they behave as such. That's it. It's not anti-war or pro-war, anti-authoritarian or pro-authoritarian, anti-liberal or pro-liberal, anti-conservative or pro-conservative, anti-democracy or pro-democracy, anti-fascist or pro-fascist, anti-religious or pro-religious, anti-aristocracy or pro-aristocracy, or anything like that. There may be characters who hold those viewpoints, but that's only because those viewpoints are apart of the way people act and think in real life. The show itself is fairly objective.

Stop acting like you know a single thing about anime.

It needed more rape to be quite honest, onii-fam.

How about compared to Hyouge Mono. Furuta's obession with Aesthetics is overacted to the point of presenting himself like a character from a work by Molière. His mannerisms are exaggerated like a Kabuki actor and his reactions and actions are so over the top ridiculous that the entire series is a Sengoku era comedy of manners.

But once you get past the MC's extreme personality and subject matter that is so heavily focused on fashions and trends from an isolated island nation of feudal warlords you find a story of subtle political maneuvering, morally ambiguous larger than life figures, betrayal and loyalty, deep characterizations that paint complete pictures of personalities and motivations, and the exploration of a plethora of beliefs and philosophies in a historical setting from a fictional standpoint.

Again, as I said, LoGH's plot is entirely subjective. Maybe you like hamfisted and melodramatic presentation of tedious politics. Me personally, I like to enjoy myself while being entertained. I would rather not feel like I am obligated to watch something because it supposedly shares my world view.

That's politics for you, it's pretty much the same irl.

I know more than you faggot.

Then why was the only part of you addressed the joke paragraph at the end?

I was just saying not to listen to what Holla Forums has to say about the show. The rest of that post was just complaining about LotGH not having enough 'spolsions. He compared it to Master and Commander for fuck's sake. That's like comparing Solaris to Star Wars.

So you won't actually address the points being made and instead will misrepresent them to hide the fact you don't know a single thing about anime.

His post showed more knowledge of the medium than yours have.

WEW

Yes.

You can't be serious. The characters are stiff as a board in that show from the toes of their feet to their blank facial expressions 90% of the time. The only way to tell what's going on in their heads is by reading the subtitles.

What a dumb fuck. Also Lohengramm is 90% hype and 10% results. If it wasn't for his subordinates handling everything important from the civil war onward he would have died in defeat.

The only real battle he personally wins is the one against the Alliance's retarded invasion which was tactically and strategically unsound, so he basically had help with that too.
