I thought this movie was just okay. As a fan of the kaiju genre I thought they could've done more with this. It reminded me of Avatar in the sense that the world they set up was interesting. But the story was so bare bones. Seriously I get its supposed to be a homage but I thought they could've done more. Like embrace all the silliness of the Showa era Godzilla and Gamera movies. Actually I think a silly tone would fit better rather than this grim tone that takes itself way too seriously.

I thought the main actor was terrible. Hell all the australians in this movie are awful.

Despite it's flaws, transformers 1 did have some enjoyable aspects to it. Wasn't the worst film to see from the point of view of a human, but it should have shifted to primarily viewing things from the transformers by the time the climax of the film came around.

I was excited for the in the works sequel that DelToro was talking about right up until I found out that Boyega used his personal production company to help get it into production… so he could cast himself as the star and kick out Charlie Hunnam.

Pacific Rim was okay, but it had its problems.

Not enough robot vs. monster action.
Most of the mechs got taken out extremely quickly.
