The video games industry is less elitist because anyone can make a hit game and sell it online. The former hopes their "messages" about society or whatever will overshadow the crappy gameplay, while the latter tries appealing to the lowest common denominator and ends up pleasing nobody due to aversion to risk and insufficient development time.

The best games nowadays are things like Contraption Maker. It's a simple idea executed flawlessly with little story. You've never heard of it because there's no politics about it for trolls to latch on to and troll Holla Forums with endlessly.

On the gaming end they generally avoid politics because they either don't want trouble for gamers or because they don't like SJW.

fam, it's not like this isn't an extremely anglosaxon problem we are currently facing with SJWism. obviously native Japanese film/game/anime industry is not under attack (from our enemies, anyway. Japan is still experiencing the halcyon days of censorious conservatives).

Any non-shill on Holla Forums should understand perfectly that soapboxing from peripheral industry (translation, PR) is very quickly followed by media escalation, then political lobbying and SPLC hate-crime designation.

The anime industry is very strongly aligned in favor of its domestic markets, and mostly dependent on niche but highly dedicated audiences buying things like overpriced Blu-rays, and figures and other merchandise. There are also major cultural differences involved. Foreign intervention is not going to go over well, especially now that there's some resurgence of nationalism in the country.

Well, my point is that I'm not afraid for Japan's domestic market, but rather emerging obscenity laws in the West.

Admittedly, there was a renaissance from a roughly 25 year period encompassing 1970 - 1995 thanks to directors like Scorsese, Cameron, Scott, Zemeckis, and Mann, as well as accomplished actors such as Clint Eastwood trying their hand at directing and succeeding greatly, but that time has long since passed.

Now it's 110% pozzed, and looks to be heading that way unless the film industry can get its own GG or Sad/Rabid Puppy-like operation going to try and drive this sickening trend of progressivism back from whence it came.
