Which I.P got raped worst Star Wars or Star Trek? True force wakens did great. But no one gives a shit about the new characters. Only new characters that could sell toys are Kylo Ren & tr8-th0r. But for Star Trek. Beyond flop after being hyped for making Sulu gay. And Star Trek discovery looks like the CISbusters moment for Star Trek. I'm not sure if Star Trek could recover like Star Wars could.
Movie & TV I.P raping thread
Star Trek got raped harder but it got the raping it always deserved for being a commie Utopian series.
Star wars is and always was a cheap fantasy story to sell action figures.
What's the damage?
trek definitely took the hottest poz load of the two
It did worse than the complete shit that was into darkness but is universally considered (outside of the shitshow that is Holla Forums) to be a huge step in the right direction for the new movies.
It also made a profit still but Holla Forums doesn't seem to know what "flop" means.
Also the original Star Trek series was going to have a gay in it but the producers thought it would be too much having a gay and a black woman on the show at the same time and the creators eventually went with just the black woman.
source?
I don't think so, Tim
profit or close to breaking even?
Personally, I'd say Trek got raped harder if only due to the awkward rights split
Continue to not think that the most progressive Scifi show in the last 30 years isn't progressive. Hell, half the cast is minorities, they've been trying to put gays in as main crew members since the original series.
This isn't news, this is you over reacting because you never realized how liberal Star Trek was.
to be fair riker did stick his dick in a non-binary snowflake and go full white knight on planet tumblr.
That isn't good enough in current day Hollywood. Amazing spider-man 2 made a profit as well.
It didn't.
Super hero movies are literally product placement movies. The movies themselves barely make jack because of inflated marketing budget, but they do make shittons of money on merchandising. Sony made the retarded as fuck mistake to sign off all the toy money to Marvel to make pure profit off the movie.
The problem here is diminishing returns. Into Darkness made less than the first one, and Beyond made less than Into Darkness. This is because mostly Into Darkness because that movie was total horseshit and destroyed a lot of fan patience with the series had. We can't really gauge how well this movie did until long after it's been out and if word of mouth among fans is good.
We will however most likely get a another movie. They're making a TV series by Bryan Fuller and JJ Abrams is going full progressive and as much as TV likes to shit on "what Star Trek has become!" it's always been progressive, so Abrams is likely to make another one just as a passion project.
...
He wasn't openly gay then
Oh I know it was progressive as fuck. But do you really think they'd have had an open gay character on network TV in 1967?
Star Trek should've been left on the shelf long enough for people to really want it back. Lensflare Trek came out only four or five years after Enterprise was cancelled, and that was because there had been endless Star Trek for at least a decade. (one or two TOS movies, TNG, DS9, TNG movies).
and now Star Trek has diversity quotas instead of actually going against the grain.
Yeah, it's #1. The largest grossing film of that kind in history. How does it feel to lose, GamerGate? Feminism won, and you lost! Who you gonna call, manbabies? Who you gonna call?
...
If we're choosing between Star Wars and Star Trek then Star Trek got raped harder.
No it didn't. Currently it's at $199m worldwide. It will end up bellow $150m domestic, and if it doesn't do really well in China, it could end up just slightly above $300m worldwide. That's pretty bad for a movie with budget of $185m.
Star Trek has always done a very poor job of being truly progressive. It uses diversity to appear progressive only on the surface.
Think about it, First black captain usually solves all of his problems by nigging it up and breaking shit. He always dresses like an extra on 12 years a slave, gets locked in a hot box, is a rape baby, and as a cherry on top he runs out on his pregnant wife to another dimension.
Janeway is a bipolar bitch who has constant mood swings and is consistently portrayed as an incompetent. Not to mention Chakotay is a proud member of the rubber tree people tribe :^) Everyone on Star Trek is a stereotype masquerading as progress.
And it's certaintly very interesting how the evil space nazis make much more sense and are far more likable than the wrinkle nose space muslims, don't you think? It's almost as if socialists have proven they're the true racists.
He also didn't want new Sulu to be gay in the new movies. Pegg had to step in and tell him how wrong he is, you know, being a big fan of the Star Trek series to a guy that was on it and the character that he played as, was wrong.

Oh hey man, pretty sure I just saw you on Holla Forums. What's up?
Why do you think they went with a black woman instead?
You proved my point with 199m worldwide and you continue proving it over and over.
EVERYTHING does well in China.
You do realize the Chinese will eat this shit up right?
As in what? Reviews, money, what?
Yes
No. 200m is pathetic. Studios get only around 50% of the earnings. This thing is not even close to being profitable yet. For that, it needs to make around 400m worldwide. Its opening numbers are down 30 to 50% all around the world compared to Into Darkness, so there is no reason to believe that Beyond will make much more than Darkness did in China (57m). That would put it around 160 to 180m for foreign markets including China.
Not necessarily. Into Darkness' earnings were just average there, and even Star Wars underperformed when compared to the top grossing capeshit. I guess they are not that much into starshit.
...
Star Wars was raped like Jodie Foster in that movie about rape.
Star Trek just revoked consent once they realized that Shatner was wearing a girdle.
Isn't that a violation of the Prime Directive?
that would be no since prime directive is all about not interfering outside of federation
