Star Trek Teaser

IT BEGINS

surely this time, they'll get it right

...

remove time lord

Just "Star Trek"?

no subtitle?

...

Who? Known for what? I'm extremely out of it where modern TV is concerned.

Alex Kurtzman wrote some Transformers movies.

And the Star Trek reboot.

So there is still some chance, that this won't be on the level of Abrams/Orci/Kurtzman shit writing.

Its nothing. Whats the point?

Not likely.

if they just call it Star Trek I'm going to be seriously pissed. The idea of naming your product identically or near identically to the original just to add confusion is pissing me off.

which means Orci is lurking around the corner

Didn't you hear? They broke up.

JJ is still pretty much in charge even when removed from the director's chair just like SW. This shit is beyond saving.

Its time for the Wholocaust. Who fangirls and Who ponyfags must be gassed.

it's not even in JJ's rebooted timeline though

Everything is JJs timeline now.

Why do they do this? JJ is terrible.

It's quite clear that they will do just that. The reason is that it does wonders for their marketing on the Internet. Anyone who hears of Star Trek is going to Google it and the first thing they will find is this shit. Well either that or the shitty reboot by JJ.

It's not about creating confusion, it's about replacing the old stuff with the new. That's how you maximise the usefulness of brand recognition, which is the only reason it's even called Star Trek in the first place.

I mean JJ could have theoretically just made a similar but different film where he copied Star Wars or Star Trek but those movies sold mostly thanks to their name. How many people would see JJ's OC if it had an original title and not superficial similarities to a successful franchise?

...

This would be sound reasoning if everyone and their mother didn't know what Star Trek was.

...

Sounds more like the music from the JJabrams movies, with a little Tim Burton's Batman.

Good lord, given how 'progressive' the original series already was, how bad is this one going to be?

Doesn't matter, they're not targeting you or your mum, they're targeting normie dweebs and kids who never watched any Star Trek at all and never will because "it's too old".

It's gonna be great. Every single shot is going to be so dense with black bulls.

well, yeah. wouldn't want the goyim to confuse this show with that misogynistic filth from the 60s.

thanks capitalism

Captain is a black trangender who racially identifies itself with a Ferangi

It doesn't matter if they've never watched it or never desired to watch it. They know what it is. The show's had significant impact on the culture, it's referenced in just about everything. It's influenced a lot of people's work in one way or another. You couldn't feasibly replace it with anything. Not the Abrams movies. Not this TV show.

If it were some lesser franchise like, say, Battlestar Galactica, you'd have a point. But not Star Trek.

I would actually prefer an honest attempt to display a modern SJW utopia to the lowest common denominator shite (with weak, plausibly deniable SJW messages) that is the star trek movies and the Enterprise series.

Given the disorganised, backstabby chaos that is contemporary SJW culture, it seems unlikely for the writers to be able to settle on a single government to be called good (compared to TOS' UN or NATO analogue, TNG's socialist paradise or DS9's USA), but that would make it all the more interesting to see what they settle on.

Maybe, since 'crews' is plural, they'll handwave it with diversity, and allow each ship a large amount of leeway in its social structure and social norms.

Question is, how are they going to make white men and Western culture the big bad?

Fucking slander, Cardassia would never permit such degeneracy.

Watch them ruin the Cardassians by making them into one-dimensional space nazis (like Star Wars) despite their planet getting bombed to hell and the Bajorans being emphasised as the heroes. Also note that you'll never see a situation like vid related in the new show.

All this and more waiting for you when they decide to make shit after the TNG era.

I don't want a whole series of things I love being raped.

They are going to get it wrong on so many levels, which levels though is up for debate. Guesses anons?

Fuller wrote for DS9 and Voyager, and he's made some pretty decent shows (that inevitably get cancelled one way or another). It might not be as bad as you think.

2 Episodes, none of note
20 Episodes all of which trash regardless cause it's Voyager.

He created Dead Like Me and Hannibal, two great shows.
