What are your personal experiences with and thoughts on the various socialist organizations, parties, unions, etc. in your country?
Burger-centric pic related.
I know the Green Party is out of place but I threw it in anyway.

I've chatted with the people who run a RevCom bookstore. They were cultish but friendly.

Wow that's like four succdem parties, a police union and one neoliberal party.

FUCKING OPPORTUNISTS GET THE FUCK OFF OF MY BOARD!!!

REEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE

...

I've only partook in more radical Marxist-Leninist parties which are small but so what, I don't want a social democracy. Usually the litmus test for me to check whether are party is useless controlled opposition or crypto-liberalism is by looking at this: Are they defending Stalin? Do they defend the DPRK? If they do neither, they are liberals or opportunists. Ideological purity is an absolute priority in these days.

Anyway, the ones I experienced were friendly, but autistic espeically in their dogmatic language. They actually preach not to use jargon in front of normies but for some reason they still don't get it quite right.

I think we have a cop problem hmm

wow great social democrat partys.

READ ZIZEK YOU BRAINLETS.

...

The green party is super hit or miss. You have some people running with them that are dope af and some that are just neoliberals, centrists, and SJWs.
That being said though in general leftist orgs in the US are a tricky beast. When I lived in the boston area I wanted to hook up with Rosa Negra and the IWW but ended up moving. Where I am at now there really only seems to be a ISO group thats active. I asked them what they were up to and it was all planned parenthood related shit. I'm on the fence about joining a group that's that focused on a rather liberal issue. I'm not even inherently against that sort of cause but not looking to make that a focus. Guns and revolution for the working class should be the focus. Thus I'm not really sure if its worth joining a group that prolly has a couple of feds in it, only to engage in liberalism. Any thoughts comrades?

Are you a burger? WWP and PSL are the only relevant orgs who do this. There are unfortunately no militantly pro Stalin groups that are relevant in burgerland.

The local CLP I have back home (I am at uni) is made up of good eggs who believe in a better world: they aren't explicitly marxist whatsoever but like the ideals in general. A kind of impious but righteous christian but in socialist form.

I was also at the Manchester March, which i met quite a few groups. The various CLP representatives there were much the same as I said, the trade unionists were just looking out for the workers, there was a org called "The Communist League" who were v interesting to talk to but kept on trying to sell me their paper (they split from a trot org, so ofc), the pro-Rojava lot were cool to talk to, there were two independent choirs that were a hoot to sing along with, the SWP were pretty cringy ngl and the ☭TANKIE☭s were fucking insufferable. I mean you are at a march about ending austerity cuts and supporting Corbyn and you chant about defending Venezuela and marching with DPRK flags.

Aus here. Which org should I join? SAlt are a bunch of petit bourg idpol-cucked liberals, so I've been turned off of them pretty hard. I saw a bunch of CPA youth members at the marriage equality rally, but idk enough about them to make a judgement.

I would remove them because they're not really left-wing and the CPUSA because historically it's been a complete FBI honeypot and nowadays it's basically a wing of the Democratic party.

In general, disappointing as fuck.

Brazil has plenty of left-wing radical parties but, for the most part, they're not really major players. The Communist Party split in the early 60s over precisely how much they should suck Moscows' dick, but two years later both were forced underground by the military government so it didn't matter. After re-democratization, the party that was formed after the split became junior patners in a coalition with the Worker's Party in the Lula period, where they became mostly known for having a senator that thinks Global Warming is an american plot to stop developing countries from challenging them in terms of industry and economics.

PSOL (Socialism and Liberty) is the college-y party that undergrads and grad students float towards because they're harmless enough to not put their careers into risk and because they talk a lot about gender and all that shit. They praised the "people's revolution" in Syria, they praised the "people's revolution" in Ukraine, and they're currently praising the anti-Maduro "people's revolution" in Venezuela.

PSTU and PCO, together with the orthodox Communist party, are the generic jurassic Left with lots of ☭TANKIE☭s that consistently say dumb shit and alienate the masses of leftists and progressive-minded people with their "all bourgeois parties are the same, maaaaan" shit at every election and at every political crisis, which no one buys because we're still terrified that one of the major right-wing parties will launch a coup so we don't want to just stay idle.

Among the most moderate (and popular) ones, you have PDT and the Worker's Party, two vaguely social-democratic parties with different tones of leftism within their own ranks. The Worker's Party's policies, corruption scandals and their stubborn Lula cult are really bothersome so I'm pretty much done with them, and the PDT is kind of a blank page who has just welcomed a major Social-Democratic nominee for 2018 named Ciro Gomes. Because he's the only guy who discusses social-democracy in terms of economic rearrangements and not populism inside the current arrangement, because he's the only mainstream respectable figure who talks U.S. imperialism without sounding whacky and nationalistic, and because he has a long record of attacking and being sued by the right people, that's the party I'm currently supporting and about to join, even though I'm much further to their Left.

Socialist Alliance seem pretty based though they are socdems.

The Green Party USA are left wing. Their new constitution is anti-capitalist.

I'm not. I would assume defending Stalin or the DPRK would be a way to completely ostracize yourself politically in the USA. In Europe it is similar, but as long as you can argue properly, your arguments are usually taken seriously, while I would imagine any argument pro-Stalin would outright be surpressed in the USA no matter the content.

For Holla Forums, Europe is a much more hostile enviroment than the US which is fortunate I guess. You can argue in defense of Marxism-Leninism all you want as long as you do it honestly, on the other hand Holocaust denial is cracked down upon extremly hard. Sadly, this is mostly because the authorities view communist parties as an historical oddity and not a threat, whereas the eternal burger gets constantly triggered and feels entitled to shout opinions down that are fundamentally "anti-American". Burgers don't know about the Streisand effect, I would love if the authorities would try to restrict the freedom of assembly and speech of my party because that would expose us to press coverage and social media drama.

The brazilian left is a joke, they are either SJWs or Trots, there is quite a few MLs but they are literally just SJWs with some economical knowledge
Most big political partys have lost all their power or influence over decades of infighting, and have no poular support due to the left being restrained to university students circles and all the race/gender bullshit they try so much to put down everyone's throats
The most promising leftist is a socdem that grabbed my attention with his views on foreign corporations slowy taking over the country, and promises of bigger economical independence and nationalism
I think he has a good chance, and while its not the ideal, its the better choice

Does this bloke have a chance of beating Mr "The Junta did nothing wrong Rossa deserved to be tortured" bloke?

I'm not sure of what you're trying to say.

The right-wing candidate for president that literally praised the commander of the torture unit of the "love it or leave it" Junta.

Jair Bolsonaro is his name.

Canada

Liberal Party: Current government, headed by le weed current year man. Centrist neolib technocrats to the core, mixed in with tons of idpol. Fuck em

New Democratic Party: Generic catch-all succdem party. Spent the last year running to the RIGHT of the Liberals and got rewarded with a loss of sixty seats. Platform is ok but non-threatening and also lots of idpol. Lots of partnerships with labour unions, but those are beginning to strain as the party base is shifting to educated urbanites.

Greens: One seat in Parliament, really only active in major cities and on the west coast where they have a coalition government with the NDP at the provincial level. Succdem, but they vary wildly (especially in the west where many greens are former conservatives, including the party leader) and are prone to tolerating conspiracy types in their ranks.

Communist Party: Fairly orthodox MLs. They've been slowly drifting into idpol to bolster recruitment.

Communist Party (Marxist-Leninist): ☭TANKIE☭ party, and the larger of our two ML parties that participate in elections. They used to be anti-revisionists that supported China in the sino-soviet split, and their rhetoric shows.

Revolutionary Communist Party: Maoists. They don't run in elections because fuck your bourgeois voting system. They spend a lot of time fighting other communists - I mean, right-opportunists. Most of their membership is francophone Quebecois, so brush up on your french before you join.

Socialist Alternative: Originally an NDP faction, they started their own org and follow the Democratic Cops of America model of endorsing other candidates instead of running on their own ticket. They have links with organized labour and are sometimes involved in union elections. Still kinda idpol-y.

He has a lot less support than it looks like, I dont think that Ciro is going to have much problems with him, I cant wait to see them debate tbh

Our future right-wing presidential candidate is an imbecile that praises the torture and assassination of political oppositors, the ultimate right-wing LARPer so to say

What about Deng?

They switched to Hoxha after Deng went revisionist IIRC

Based?

Read for yourself and judge. Their current line is pro-cuba

Enjoy never, ever being relevant to the working class m8, and I don't think that's the right attitude to take on the USSR, we don't have anythig to gain from defending a dead state, only things to learn about how we do the next one better.

Nice Anglo chauvinism, idiot. Stalin is revered by the working class in many countries to this day.

I'm not praising the eternal science of Stalinism or whatever to the average prole. All I was saying, I am not going to purposely lie about something either when asked about it. People aren't dumb, they know what you are trying to selll, to try to cloak yourself in PC isn't very sympathetic.

And believe me, you are a communist, you get asked about Stalin. Now, are you going to cuck yourself and lie or are you being honest?

Yeah, that was my bad I assumed he was burger for some reason, idk.

he's german

All they seem to do at uni is get themselves kicked out of student elections and hassle random students to buy their newspapers. Idk, I think student politics is a bit of a dead end. I don't even think its that good for radicalising - petit bourg kids graduate, start working in finance and forget all about their socialist/anarchist/radical "phase". I think my time might be better spent radicalising my future colleagues and once in employment radicalising the industry union.

THIS, READ LENIN 2017.

It is time to read.

If you're in Melbourne look up the socialist party

Fellow Ausfag here. Can't help you much, but I can give you my experiences.
Absolute garbage, completely consumed by identity politics. Checked them out prior to the US election, and there was some growing radicalism, but a lot of elitist "how do we teach the DUMB working class our pure ideas?". Post US election, all I could hear from its members were "How do we educate the stupid working class on resisting DRUMPF?". Apparently their affiliated unions are quite good, but I can't speak from experience.
Trots. Very good members, very watered politics. The party line seems to be purely socdem, but all the members I've met aren't even Trots. They claim to be avowedly Marxist, however their policies seem to be limited to expropriation of big business, protection of small business, and socdem labour policies. They explain that they hate capitalism but not how they'll end the cycle of capital in Australia.
Sort of similar to the above. They give me the impression of being a big tent organisation trying to attract as many left leaning individuals as possible. Their policy list is almost purely socdem, but they support the collectivisation of large firms, which is leagues more radical than the two above. A decent chunk of their social charter is knee jerk liberal shit, like "free hormones to anyone who asks, without first being diagnosed with gender dysphoria" and what basically amounts to "ban feeling bad about women and gays, expand speech laws", but there is decent shit thrown in with it, moreso than SAlt at least.

Most of their policies are written extremely vaguely and some make no sense, like "Government funding for services run by and for the trans community, such as Gender Centres. There should be a Gender Centre in every capital city at least." I feel as though they are in the vein of people who think capitalism is a system of ownership, not production, and they think funding "the good not-capitalists" will fix "the bad capitalists".

...

Man you people are spoiled as fuck with all these choices. I'm literally the vanguard for organizing in my area no matter which organization name I work under (Greens and Democratic Cops of America at the moment).

M8, having to choose between dog shit, dog shit, and dog shit is not a good thing. The only thing being spoiled, sadly, is the greater socialist movement. How's the Greens going?

Indian one is garbage. They are shills for businessmen and, and Christian and Muslim vote bank.

I went to Socialist Alternative's Marxist Conference earlier this year with my dad. First talk we went to had sectarian infighting between them and Socialist Alliance.

Never have given orgs a shot, perhaps that will change soon.
Do have to do some reading, but first hand experiences are welcome, so I'll keep an eye on this thread.

When isn't there sectarian shitflinging between SAlt and Socialist Alliance though?

I read it. Its just saying we should join parliament and participate in reaction trade unions not join groups that are totally un socialist. Compromise with them? yes. Work with them? No. Hotel? Trivago.

Dad thought it was pretty funny.

I've emailed with the german section of the ICFI quite a while, because I was into Trotskysm at that time. They are indeed very cultish and called me a maoist… So I stopped being a trot.
