As someone from the area can I just say that Mik Pappas, who defeated the guy from pic 1, is pretty fucking based even compared to most of the rest of the winners, and on principle declined even contesting the Democratic nomination as he wanted to have no ties or commitments to any part of the party.
It's a long-term project, but introducing socialism, changing the law to favor restorative justice over retributive justice and replacing the police(being a force to protect property and uphold the law) with a force whose duty is primarily to protect citizens, trained in deescalation techniques rather than armed with military surplus, all this would lend themselves to the abolition of the prison in its current form. The very worst cases might still have to be confined, but the facilities would more closely resemble rehab centers and mental health hospitals than modern prisons.

1) there is a dissatisfied rural working class that is proletarian and is alienated from both parties.
2) There is a growing urban proletariat in cities like Atlanta, Birmingham and Houston.
3) It is [paradoxically] easier to build support for non-duopoly parties in "safe states" because their vote doesn't have the spoiler effect.
