Meanwhile the right has consistently been moving to the extreme right as we sit back and stay divided into different groups.

It's not necessarily saying extremism is bad persay, but rather the left needs to become uniformly extreme as the right is taking over society through radicalism.
Moderates keep society stable. But if one wing goes radical, the other wing also needs to in order to maintain balance.
Or will we allow the right to win?
