Western Ukraine is not neo-fascist… It's a neolib government allied with NATO and EU. The reason Russia invaded was because NATO used the uprising to install a NATO-friendly government, further moving their positions towards Russia. Russia then invaded eastern Ukraine as a defensive imperialist move, since they need to use Crimea as an external military base.
