Shut the fuck up faggot, the insignia is god-tier and signifies unity between manual and intellectual labour (nowadays capitalists do their best to keep them divided and oblivious to their actual interests) and the tricolor is atleast a symbol of revolution and republicanism. West Germany didn't assume they'd go back and make a mistake: they kept the migrants around on purpose as Germany's population was starting to age and excess labor is a good thing to drive down wages. East Germany had no motive to do so on account of having a very different economic system and mandating full employment.

Every communist state has been a massive failure, but East Germany was the closest they came to functional.

It still sucked to live in but nowhere near as badly as most communist countries. Had the Russians let it keep all the German clay in the east instead of handing it over to drunken poles, it might actually have succeeded long-term and been the one to annex West Germany instead of the other way around.
