What's up with the weird LSD cover?
idk, Verso probably decided to gay the cover up in the last minute.

Yeah, seriously, it was perfectly alright
Don't we already have a good book analyzing the last years of Lenin's life?
zizek is basically verso's viral marketing scam lol
dropped
And Holla Forums falls for it every time.

I Schan'tsh lishenshts to Zhshishlekzsh
It seems the book has the same structure as Revolution at the Gates. Here's a sample:

So he literally just plagiarized himself again? That's hilarious.
SEETHING
As always with Žižek's books, you won't find much in it what the title suggests. It probably won't be a book about Lenin but rather Žižek's newest hot takes about whatever with some references here and there. I've read Žižek's book about Dialectical Materialism only to find out it isn't about Dialectical Materialism at all.
Which one?
Absolute Recoil

Good review of Tombstone, shows how Yang Jisheng dishonestly uses statistics to get his 36 million number. Every time Zizek writes about real existing socialism he quotes some crap anti-communist historian like Conquest or Chang.
wrong thread?
There's a whole passage Zizek writes about Tombstone in the text quoted above.
didn't this book get delayed? wasn't it supposed to be released months ago?
AFAIR it was expected in February this year then got delayed.
a retreading of some previous stuff but put into a novel configuration. Hope to read the rest soon.
Is Verso the best Anglophone left-wing publisher?
/Thread
WHY THE FUCK ISN'T THERE A PAPERBACK HARDCOVERS SUCC WHAT THE FUCK
Because book companies sell the hardbacks first to make money they release the paperback later.
Ah. Thanks. Never bought a book within 5 years of release before. What a bizzare business model.
It's the same business model the movie industry has used for years. People pay for the expensive "experience" (hardback/cinema) because they want to see/read the thing NOW and are too impatient to wait for the cheaper and more convenient version (paperback/home release) later.
Is Verso a publishing company?
Didn't Zizek say before that most of his political writings are done just to please his editor and is mostly farce? If he doesn't talk about Hegel and Lacan, should I bother reading it?
Isn't Zizek an unironic CapCom and Flat Earther? Doesn't he love fisting but is a virgin?
The fisting thing was a joke, and I'm pretty darn sure he's not a flat earther. He has said one or two not so negative things about certain companies in the past, but nothing that invalidate his marxism though, tbh, I find he mostly uses Marx just to get to talking about Hegel.
Where is the epub file?
yes
...
Really, bud? Falling for this Molly Klein tier slander?
That cover just screams of digital-only.
It's a strange world, when entire anti-communist propaganda bricks can be debunked on their own Amazon reviews.
Understand Zizek's sense of humour to get past the garbage.
You know there's demand for a book when shit ads like these keep popping up:

Yes. /leftypol stop falling for the spectacle of marxist jesters
Whatever keeps you away from books, I guess.
It's no "Let The Bodies Hit The Floor" but it'll do.
no point in reading postmodernist garbage
especially since most people here haven't even read the capital
The only thing I've read by Zizek is Revolution at the Gates and this is exactly what that book is like.
The thread can be closed. This is a take so hot it's creating universes.
Can you enlighten us in a few sentences why you consider Zizek to be a garbage postmodernist?

That's just supply and demand. There are people willing to buy at price X, and there are additional people willing to buy at a lower price. Suppose you produce an output that you can't tightly control the quantity of, as it is strongly dependent on the weather. Suppose that, for whatever reason, when you set the price you sell your output at, you have to keep that price for a while. If both these constraints apply, you can increase your profits by destroying some of your output. If you have to set a price permanently, you do not maximize profit at the point where you maximize the physical amount you sell while still covering production cost (which might be a goal for production under socialism). If you don't have to set the price forever and have some price-setting power as there are no perfect substitutes for the product you offer, it makes sense for you to first set a high price, and when you are done selling to the crowd that tolerates that price, you lower the price to get additional customers. Alas, the more foresight and patience customers have, the less this pays off. Introducing variations of a product, some slightly better than another and much more expensive (without that being a proper reflection of additional cost in labor and material) gives impulsive consumers an alibi and reduces consumer rationality for higher profits.
And behind the garbage can that is his humour, what awaits you is just another garbage can: wsws.org
Wooswoos on philosophy is like Fox on socialism.
Is it good?
I love verso personally and order from them regularly. Reading old traditional works is great and important for having a foundational knowledge of leftism of course but its also nice to read takes immediately relevant to the modern day that are written in more modern english so i can blast through them without having to analyze too much. I love analyzing Capital and stuff but its nice to give your brain a break.
They also have sales A LOT which is awesome. Recently bought "The Left Hemisphere" to learn about critical theory, and "Communal Luxury" which is just a primer and explanation of the paris commune i think, $11 each.
No, this is thread theme

Is Batko the next one to abandon anarchism?
How have none of you faggots uploaded the book already
Jesus, what are you doing fam?
A shiggy diggy do
can someone post the quote from M. Dupont about 'going back to Lenin' as the death cry of communist movements? it's in nihilist communism.
Its weird, I have been trying to find this with no success and yet amazon marks an available digital copy.
Got a copy with book vouchers I won.
Stopped reading there.
It's a paragraph about shitty behavior caused by the hunt for higher profits, not a normative statement.
dunno if it's already been uploaded ITT but here's an .epub version I uploaded: ufile.io
how about some legit site next time
that link works fine
download is ok, but site triggered my dns block for some reason
2017 is almost over. What Zizek mean this?
Ngl the preface to this is fucking fire alone. Everyone should get it tbh.
t. Definitely not Zizek's publisher .
Background probably one of those reflective designs irl
Good to see they brought in Contra as a consult for the cover art
this
Leftcoms give me a summary
Stop sucking Leftcom dick so much, it's a shitposting flag and there is only one literate Bordigist who posts under this flag. Don't you have some dignity?
...
thanks
can confirm, is legit
Just read it. It's short and really good. Especially useful reading for the "Lenin was just Stalin 0.5!" crowd - both the narcho and ML variation.
Some serious jabs at Badiou when discussing the Cultural Revolution, plus he reveals personal communication between them.
Anything juicy?
Badiou seems to be persuaded by Zizek's call for a Master in private, but doesn't address it publicly afaik.
How so?
It's a recurring Lacanian theme of his that is discussed in this book as well.
...
...
How about Zizek stops ranting about Lenin, and does something original.
Like what? Shoving a bowling pin up his ass?
Imo this books is highly original. The positions he takes up on Lenin are one of a kind and have huge potential for communist praxis.
mapes u tink
His take on Lenin is one of a kind, that's already original.
Its pretty interesting, will continue reading.
Relevant for all, even if you disagree. And i say that as a communalist.
that seems somewhat exaggerated
I'll only buy it if I can pirate it, then I'll know it's worth it
am I slovenian jokes yet
