Even by ML definitions of socialism (socialism as state capitalist monopoly) Venezuela is less "socialist" than literally any west European country. Germany, France, Sweden, Netherlands etc. all have a higher degree of state ownership, public spending as % of GDP, more welfare, less inequality etc.

Also Cuba has good doctors and that's it. Seems like the problem with relatively not batshit communism is that they can only maintain one form of economy (USSR had good war/enginnering industry, shit everything else). Not that different from fascist Banana Republics who can only do agriculture or tourism.

If scandinavia is socialist than so is the US. They are all varying degrees of social democracy i.e. welfare state capitalism whose "democracy" is subverted by business interests so as not to be one. It doesn't work, not the "left" model, not the neoliberal model, not the classical liberal model, it crashes endlessly, like all the fucking time, every 10-15 years, it has ravaged the planet and put even its own populations on their knees, other populations on their faces or in their graves.
