How ironic that Kant wrote exactly about types like you, without you even knowing about it. Metaphysics is an immense part of how we understand science and how we understand logic. Information has no importance if we can't understand how we process it as human beings. Even if you claim neurobiology does the same, we still have to consider how we use that knowledge, and what it means to the human condition. I can grant you some insights since your thick skull seems to be penetrated by the current state of academic philosophy. All philosophers during Kant's time were scientists. They were well versed in all the natural sciences in addition to mathematics. Not understanding the importance of philosophy is like ignoring the heart of science itself. Science without philosophy is nothing but a tool. If you think that critical thinking, ethics, epistemology, ontology, and even the love for knowledge are useless, then you are not a real scientist. Results are important, however, purely going for results, creates a toxic environment for science. Certain subjects would be left at the wayside, human experiments would be allowed, corporate greed would sink its fangs even deeper than they already are. Today we have an issue with engineers and scientists, who are more interested in money and fame, than the actual pursuit of knowledge. Then we have people who think that humans can be reduced to numbers. And people like you who think that knowledge as a means to an end is enough, not considering how a scientific community can flourish. I will admit that philosophy majors are a waste. Reading philosophy is fine, studying philosophy as a vocation is questionable. It creates an environment ripe for mental masturbation and institutionalized thinking, instead of insightful analysis and creation of creative and useful ideas. Philosophy becomes close to useless unless combined with a scientific field of study since it lacks purpose.
Finally. You can not be a Marxist without appreciating Kant. I doubt you would know this. However, the matter of fact is that Kant was the one who formulated the idea of self-driving logic, which ends in contradiction which has to be resolved. Hegel took this idea and refined it, creating the dialectic as the result. Which in turn was taken by Marx and applied to the field of political economy. Metaphysics and philosophy applied to create some of the greatest insight on economics.
