But user, if it gets bad enough then the government might collapse, giving us our chance.

YOUR CHILDREN
SELL THEM TO ME

I saw 4/pol/ talking about this the other day. I had forgotten just how ignorant that place is. They were practically posting conservative facebook memes as arguments for how climate change isn't real and I wanted to shoot myself.

One of their arguments was literally:
And think I did

Live in southern Florida. Got my windows boarded up with wood. That's about all we can afford to do.

Essential workers!

Not yet. This is just the beginning.

What would be the Four Horsemen of the capitalist apocalypse?
?

Bookchin was saying, for decades, that this would happen. The ecological crises brought about by hierarchical modes of social organisation, but especially capitalism's grow-or-die mentality, are inevitable in this given the ecological limits of the biosphere. Our ecological crises present us with an opportunity for revolutionary agitation.

We must bring about an ecological society.

the decline of morals and civic virtue

inb4 some tankie/unironic nazbol comes in saying Bookchin wasn't a socialist or communist & labels him as "liberal".

Since when were tankies climate change deniers?

Driving a faggy hybrid and eating tofu isn't going to save the world.

Bookchin was the person who coined the term lifestylism you gigantic faggot.

I'm guessing you include the falling rate of profit as an implicit piece under obsolete labor and imperialism?

Low profit doesn't kill people. I was going for secondary/systemic effects of capitalism that kill people directly and point toward the failure of the system.
/shitpost flag

Nobody said that, and I don't believe in lifestylism much at all, but you can't deny that system as a whole in it's current form leads to ecological disaster unless system reorganizes itself to prevent it.

Not climate change specifically, but they do try to downplay the effects of the USSR's agricultural practices on the Aral Sea.

Leftypol, I come to you as a man nervous about the future of our land.

I am talking of course about Georgia, which is being overrun by thousands of Florida "refugees" (really economic migrants coming here for our jobs and upright infrastructure) as we speak. It is an invasion, and if we allow them to overtake our culture and leech off our welfare programs and rehabilitation clinics, we will be ruined!

Will you join us in our noble struggle?

We should have had /impending collapse/ a 100 times over by now, acid rain, overpopulation, a new ice age, mass famine, nuclear war… our vision of time is linear, it requires an end.

You can't have enviromentalism without domination of nature and human supremacy. No animal, plant or other natural being cares about the environment, not one of them has a second thought when it takes over an eco-system.

With all my heart comrade. We must drain the swamp right into the ocean.

Can't forget the classic

Yes
No

Change obsolete labor to increasing cycles of private debt crises and imperialism to world war once competing imperialist nations try to fill the power vacuum left by the USAs collapse

social atomization.

Seriously though AGW is unfalsifiable - I'm not dennying that Co2 brings the global average up by +2 degrees, however the models that have run away water vapor heating cycles are unfalsifiable. If it was a serious issue everyone would invest in 4th gen nuclear power (molten salt reactors)

Climate change (more floods, more droughts, more fires, more hurricanes, etc), resource depletion (everything from fertilizers to metals), the new economic paradigm in the era post-peak-oil, among thousands of other factors, all coalescing at a time when there has never been more people more dependent on increasingly complex, interdependent layers of industrialization.

Make no mistake, comrades, the 21st century will see more starvation than any other time in human history - and that will only be the backdrop for the collapse; our new normal.

This is why organization now is so important. Having a community of people with shared interests will soon be the only way to survive, no matter how prepped you are, you will not be able to go it alone, not forever.

well duh, only larping autist think they will be the "lone wolf survivor, fighting for his own" because they posted a lot in /k/ threads

And every single one (plus those that "should have been born but weren't") will be blamed on Communism.

OP you're sounding as paranoid & unhinged as an Alex Jones lemming Holla Forumstard.

I think you might be surprised by how often this is overlooked or misunderstood by preppers. Plus there's a bit of a stigma attached to telling people you have a lot of food, water, tools, guns, crops, a place to escape to, etc. - because before there's a crisis they'll think you're a crazy doomsday prepper getting ready for a zombie apocalypse or for 'the end times', but if shit does turn bad then they'll know someone to come to for shelter, handouts, and safety.

So yeah, don't underestimate the number of larping autists, I guess is the takeaway.

Despite there being no Communist world powers, and despite the fact that the majority of the damage being caused to the environment (and the vast preponderance of resource extraction) is due to exploitative capitalist industry, I suspect that your assertion is not incorrect - though look at how many people still fail to accept the reality of the situation we collectively find ourselves in.

Most of humanity, at least those living in modernity, are nearly entirely detached from reality - because they can be. They've never had to think about where the shit goes when they flush the toilet, or where hot water comes from, or how their food gets to the supermarket, or where their clothes came from, or how their electronic devices work, or any other myriad of things that directly impact their day-to-day life.

I am no longer surprised by the stupidity of humanity.

It happened in Europe in the mid 20th century and ended up killing millions, be it starvation or intentional slaughter.

And we're just not talking about the rest of the world. You America centric loons are eventually going to get your taste of history.

Not really.

HOW MUCH FOR ZE LITTLE GIRL?

Hurricane Lee may be added to the lineup. We'll have to wait and see.

Scenario: Irma severely damages NextEra energy/FPL nuclear reactors causing radiation hazard. You heard it here first.

But this is the second time I'm hearing it here.

Pipe down burger bar kid.

exactly

without a very expensive program to completely revamp the energy networks of all countries to cleaner sources and technology transfer programs to the poorer nations of the world we are completely fucked, and political will to do this under Capitalism won't come until it's too late (it's arguably too late already, but those measures would hopefully stretch the time we have until we fuck off from this planet)

Oh boy, nobody's told him yet.

The world could support a population 100 times larger than it currently does if it weren't for capitalism and modern technology.
Stop wasting resources on wars.
Stop using motorized vehicles.
Stop using destructive farming techniques.
Stop cutting down trees.
Stop running wasteful server farms.
Do that, and all your problems are solved.

Yes, we are.

forget pic.

NATO intervention when?

didn't get your point here.

well if you look at that exxon mobil study from the seventies (cant' find a link rn sorry) it says that by the time the effects of climate change are noticeable, they'll be irreversible.
i'm afraid that we should have stopped that by the seventies/eighties if we wanted to have a chance, really seems that this whole thing is a line of dominoes and we already pushed the first one a long time ago tbh

You aren't going anywhere. The "we" are the likes of Musk and Zuckerberg.

Why does it actually matter? Everyone on this board will likely be dead before the worst effects of climate change hit us.

...

If I had to place bets, I wouldn't be betting on a country which is already below sea level.

If only reality was that kind :)

Stopping all of this from happening should be considered self defense at this point tbh.

Would be nice to not have to worry about a category 5 hurricane every other weekend. And this is just the beginning. Can't wait to be blamed for not buying a hybrid car though, as porky peaces out to his secret mars base.

If theres any place that knows how to deal with water its us.

Now I understand why Michael Ruppert killed himself.
