awful
Bad but fixable.
Depends on the details. How do you feel about this subject?
Pretty ok
Gudd
Honestly a lot of people on the left (especially white dudes for some reason) went through a (right-)libertarian phase. Have you considered that democratizing the workplace is a step in the right direction?
I used to be far more left, but after growing older and experiencing the working world and living in different countries I've become far more economically libertarian. As far as diplomacy goes, my views are entirely pragmatic. I see no real benefit to tradition or nationalism, but I don't think we've advanced enough socially or technologically for a more global world.
Why though? I'd expect the opposite to happen tbh
Don't go to /liberty/
Read Proudhon, then Bakunin, then Kroptokin, then come back here.
you're right about traps being gay tho
OP TAKE THIS ADVICE
or at least learn what mutualism is, and then convert to socialism.
I used to think that it was the obligation of everyone care for the less fortunate, with a greater cut being taken from those that earn more. However, with the way taxes work in the UK, someone who earns £35,000 will be taking home almost the same amount as someone who takes home £45,000. This is mere income tax, council tax and national insurance tax round things off even more.
Where does all this money go? To the NHS and welfare. Don't get me wrong, I believe both have their place, but they have become far too broad. People should be held accountable for health issues that are a result of lifestyle. As for welfare, you know there is a problem when over 25% of the working age population in unemployed even if the government tries to hide it under the term 'economically inactive'.
I've lived in the UK, Canada and the US, and the quality and affordability of life increases in that order.
...
...
No. Your economics are shit.
Nice try scrounger.
Socialism isn't the government providing social services to it's citizens through taxes though, it's an entirely different political-economic system. Capitalism produces goods for the sole sake of accumulation, socialism produces goods for use. Socialism is more efficient than capitalism and isn't subject to the brutal booms and busts that capitalism has.
Really? Canada has infinitely nicer infrastructure than the US does, and housing is much more affordable in Canada's urban areas than it is in most of the US's urban areas.
I'm self-employed.
doing what?
I have several online shops in which I sell physical goods I have produced, digital goods I have produced and physical goods that I have purchased for resale.
That's pretty reasonable.
I'm not a bong, but I'm pretty sure that's not how income tax works. Don't tax brackets there only affect the portion of your money that you earn above the lower brackets? That's how it is in the US. That way you take home a lower percentage the more you make but you always take home more. And as for
The difference in what most people earn comes down to what the employer decides to begin with. The people who "earn" less are already having more taken from them by getting worse pay.
Sure but the lion's share of the money that gets taken away goes to the business owner prior to the paychecks even being written.
Unemployment is a product of capitalism. It's a check on inflation for one, and it rises as a result of technology only benefitting the capitalist. Instead of improvements in tech allowing people to do the same work in less time, Porky fires some workers and has the rest keep working the same time for the same pay but doing more work. And of course Porky pockets the difference.
The US is a lot bigger than the UK. Some areas have it better some areas have it far far worse.
Sure but you have to Google Bookchin
fuggen shitpost flag
Political Compass is such crap. I'm not even Holla Forums at all and I somehow made it into the red square
OP you basically are exactly what I started out as when I was first getting into politics.
[spoiler]and being gay is okay
Only NazBols and Borderline Nazbols make it to the Red Square. Welcome to the GANG.
I checked them out. It's full of nationalism and bible-bashing.
Well then if that's true you're going to have a hard time fitting in here. The one thing that unites the users here is our hatred of capitalism. Understand it's not unfounded but based on shitloads of theory, we all have our reasons. While we sometimes disagree on how to get rid of capitalism, we agree it needs to go.
The only thing I can suggest is read theory and come here in earnest with questions. I would personally be happy to answer questions, or provide resources for reading
Capitalism is necessary until global automation becomes a reality. If we are lucky we will see that in our lifetimes, but until then money is the cheap oil that greases the engine of progression.
Capitalism will not enable global automation.
Capitalism is not even efficient, they have to ship products across the sea to make it cheap and have no need to make factories close to the consumers purely because of the free market and costs.
Why would they do different with automation leftcom?
only good liberals are Jacobin liberals, and they dont even exist anymore.
Not really fam, profits are only like 4% of what you produce but taxes are like 50% for some people lmao plus consumption tax plus taxes on businesses that make people not want to hire you …
also in socialism you would have to fund investment somehow… essentially through even higher taxes
That is efficient. The people with the least opportunity cost (if you know what is) to produce clothing are in China, while shipping is fairly cheap. Central planners would have no fucking idea where to even begin with this but capitalism figures it out
this board should be deleted.
tell me more
Sorry, it's just the free market of ideas that makes our board 20x bigger than liberty :^)
