I keep hearing this line again and again and there doesn't appear to have any basis for it, how does imagining a sexually explicit image in your head with your minds eye, especially for those with a very active imagination differ from seeing one with your real eye? There is the reasoning "well it cant compare to what you can see on the internet" how so? If one puts his mind to it it is easy to conjure up as many erotic imagery in your minds eye as a porn artist could after all where does erotica come from if not the sexual imagination of the people who create it? Somewhere down the line somebody will have had to conjure it up for it to be placed into the world and indeed the more you hang out with the porn addiction community the more you start to see that even masturbation to your imagination isn't "good" there is an emphasis on how you should only imagine "realistic" scenarios and not "porn" scenarios so not all imaginations are okay you need to have the "right" imagination make sure your imagination is "right" or else your an addict. When you look at it from this point, it becomes really hard to not see it as a resurgence of puritanism or puritanical ideas.
