I hope this one doesn't get ruined by trots.

Same here friendo, hopefully us SocDems ruin it instead. :^)

Anyway, what have my fellow Brits been up to this summer? What are your thoughts on May claiming she could run as Tory leader in GE2022?

She's implying she's not a lame duck. Well I guess she can't admit she is. But she is.

Yeah but I'm still cheering her on because Corbyn will have like 500 seats in the unlikely event May's MPs don't kick her out.

Same, I'm hoping she stays. Hopefully Jacob Rees Mogg doesn't take over. Normies love him.

t. om watson

ummmmm no sweeties x

Normies like Rees-Mogg for the bantz, but they like Jez for the same reason. I think an election with those two would be fun as heck desu.

Ahhhhhhhhhh the Trots are twisting my arm.

Anyone hear about this EU trap Labour is setting for the Tories? Saw it referenced off site but never looked into it.

Basically Corbyn and Starmer decided to support a transitional deal after Brexit that sees the UK stay in the customs union and single market for a few years. This makes remain voters a bit happier and doesn't piss off leave voters too much so I think its pretty clever.

The fuck is the Labour Party Conference Arrangements Committee and why should I vote for anyone on the ballot?

The committee that organises conference. You should vote for Momentum affiliates Seema and Billy to prevent any disasters like that rigged vote on adding Scottish and Welsh Labour representatives to the NEC last year.

Who are Cashman and De Piero with? The candidate booklet isn't particularly informative.

They're the current organisers and they're both from the centre-right wing of the Labour Party.

Say no more. Have they done anything particularly fucky being in charge or is it just part of the house cleaning?

There were a whole bunch of rigged votes at 2016 conference but I dunno whether or not that was their fault. Either way, you should use your votes.

Off-topic: Who does everyone want to run for Scottish Labour leader now that Kez has resigned? I feel Richard Leonard, Pauline McNeill or Alex Rowley would all destroy the SNP.

This is trash even by Holla Forums standards.

and now it has a weeb! EWWWWWW!

What even are you if you're not a SocDem, Stalinist or Trot? A fucking Posadist? Get out if so, you're nuts.

Hopefully Leonard, Alex Rowley has said he is not going to run so really Leonard is our best bet he will have the backing of the unions and most of the left within the party.

I fixed it for you.

Go read a book. Nerd

We're all just hiding our power levels until the aliens bring us true communism, lad.

This.

Yeah but its not too late for Rowley to change his mind! Scottish Labour would have the power of meme magic with him. Leonard is fine tho.

Nice, I'm moving up to Dundee soon, should be pretty good. Sadly the only socialist org round there is the Labour Party/Campaign For Socialism as far as I'm aware

You haven't met Comrade Halfon then.

Excellent

I'm in Scotland as of next week, not Scottish unfortunately :( (unless two grandparents count)

Same. I just study there. Heading back there in a few weeks.

I'm honestly sorry for bullying east coasters, it's fun though youtube.com/watch?v=Ein57OSrqoA

Do English people get Free Uni in Scotland? Is it SAAS that funds it?

English have to pay full fees like they do back in England. I'm English myself but get SAAS though cuz I've lived in the E.U. for the past several years.

Nope. We have to pay the same as the rest of the country. Some Unis do "Rest of UK" scholarships though for the first year

Sorry tae hear that. I feel jammy whenever English people complain about fees.

Jammy mate

At least Abbott hasn't been seen on tv for a while so she can't mess up anymore.

Forgot to post very important pic related.

you never had your praxis

It's a shame she's such a fucking liability, she seems like a decent person.

I've only taken Southern Rail three times this year and been cancelled on (as in mid-journey-everyone-off-at-the-next-stop) four times so far.

Honestly hate all rail franchises but Southern has a special place in the 9th ring. Every time they blame "staff shortages" because their workers don't want to work mandatory overtime and then try and turn commuters against them when strikes happen.

RENATIONALISATION IMMEDIATELY

Torn between joining Labour and voting for Richard Leonard or whoever the left candidate is, and hanging back to see if the party is stupid enough to pick Sarwar or not.

(I don't really have a choice, but hey.)

...

...

You're not missing much lad.

There's no reason why not. The time for her MPs to replace her was right after the election, and they didn't do it. Brexit could very well bring up new problems that force her out, but right now there's no motivation to depose her.

YEAH BOIS WE'RE BACK.

Looking at the SLab race, it seems that the trade union guy is pretty decent: has the techno-communism vibe that McDonnell is a fan of. Regardless, FUCK Anas.

ROMAN CATHOLICISM IS LABOL.

real talk, how hard is it to get a paid job (of any kind) in the Labour party?
seems about the only employment prospect my lazy mind can imagine bothering with. (Even if functionally we're talking stacking shelves in tesco versus stacking minutes in some internal document archive.)

You all have shit taste

Pretty difficult because there are rarely any accessible opportunities. It's easy to get a position like chair or treasurer in your CLP though and that might look good to some employers in the political field.

Erm, nice of the Guardian to finally notice but this has been a problem since NEW LABOUR (Tory-lite) introduced the scheme in 2010!

Wow, 7 years too late, 4 elections past and now they decided that this was a problem?

I like how they didn't raise this back when unemployment was peaking post-recession, it didn't help that people were doing work for free further stagnating the economy and postponing recovery.

Even if you look at the comments, they're all blaming the Tories (who were complicit but not in power when this was legislated) showing that they've learnt nothing.

I've been boycotting all of these slavedrivers for years:

Thats what he thought of saying when he was in the shower the day later.

Is she the evolutionary consequence of the soundbite culture – devoid of irony, banal in the extreme, a robo-candidate?

The Times on Theresa May, 1st February 1997.

Btw, this is from a member: each CLP has to send a statement to the conference suggesting how present labour policy should change. The second is another crowdsourced PMQs session.

how policy should change:
1) bring back Clause IV
2) bring back Clause IV
3) bring back Clause IV

broke: To secure for the workers by hand or by brain the full fruits of their industry and the most equitable distribution thereof that may be possible upon the basis of the common ownership of the means of production, distribution and exchange, and the best obtainable system of popular administration and control of each industry or service.

It believes that by the strength of our common endeavour we achieve more than we achieve alone, so as to create for each of us the means to realise our true potential and for all of us a community in which power, wealth and opportunity are in the hands of the many, not the few, where the rights we enjoy reflect the duties we owe, and where we live together, freely, in a spirit of solidarity, tolerance and respect

woke: The Labour Party is a social democratic party. It believes that by the strength of violent proletarian revolution we achieve more than we achieve by parliamentary reformism, so as to secure for the workers by hand or by brain the full fruits of their industry and the most equitable distribution thereof that may be possible upon the basis of the common ownership of the means of production, distribution and exchange, enabling us the means to realise our true potential and for all of us a community in which power, wealth and opportunity are in the hands of the many, not the few, where the rights we enjoy reflect the duties we owe, and where we live together, freely, in a spirit of solidarity, tolerance and respect.

It's coming home with no survivors.

Yeah I'll probably join. The only thing I've yet to decide on is the date I'll do it.

[Council cuts point]
I have to wonder if devolution was a mistake in terms of structure. "Devolving the axe" is a pretty big problem.
I mean, it's true that the SNP decided to make larger cuts to council budgets, but the alternative wasn't leaving councils alone - it was making cuts in other areas with worse headlines. Somewhere, the axe has to fall.
I'm no longer approaching this from the perspective of defending the SNP, but it's a serious political question - what is the alternative? In the mid-long term, one can appeal to the greater co-operation between a Labour government in Westminster and a Scottish Labour government's priorities, but in the short term - quite possibly before the next election, Scottish Labour needs a policy program set out against the background of the axe.

Though I suppose there's a wider tactical question over who to target, which is split down constitutional margins but isn't in itself a constitutional question. Chase after the working class "yes" vote, or try and stay in the present "middle" and put forward a more convincing "soft-no" argument (i.e. "just stop talking about it, people are tired of it, here's our plan for the NHS…")

The former seems more "all or nothing" than the latter, although the latter runs the much clearer risk of remaining in third place and maintaining a SNP/CON squeeze.

First ever McDonalds Strike today. While it's pretty small in the grand scheme of things especially with the size of their chain it's better than nothing and hopefully the coverage convinces more retail workers to unionise. Whether or not it will actually work today we'll see but my hopes aren't that high.

bbc.co.uk/news/business-41143869

chortling.

It actually might work imo. McDonald's fucking hates the McJob stereotype and basically competes by being the least shitty fast food company to work for.

lmaaaaooooooooooooooooooo ruthie is scared of richard

What does /britleftypol/ think of tipi valley?

What?

Novara Media has recorded an interview with the founder of Activate, the new Tory answer to Momentum:

youtube.com/watch?v=Y1byFK5uwcE

What the fuck am I watching? How is social media still free? Is this a parody?

Have been there for a week, it's an old hippie commune that became a sort of communal village (not that communal since there are plenty of people who never to talk to anyone).

diggersanddreamers.org.uk/communities/existing/tipi-valley

Holy kek they have existed for TWO WEEKS and have already had a split: they have a shorter half-life than trots.

Holy fuck, this organisation is absolutely hilarious. Their literal policies are "Rees-Mogg to be PM", at-least momentum and the CfS had solid cohesive beliefs behind them.

Also I fully (and immensely unfortunately) expect someone to either get raped or bullied into suicide in this group. It always happens in tory youth organisations.

This is a top tier piece of parody that is actually real.
Also who are these Novara Media lads? Any of their stuff good?

What a fucking brainlet.

I almost fell off my chair laughing. He even expelled all the May supporters in Activate! But yeah, I really am concerned for the mental health of any weak-minded, ultimately well-intentioned young Tories who get involved in this, especially after the leaked chats.

Novara is one of these new online anti-establishment media organisations that took off around the time Corbyn announced his intention to stand in the 2015 Labour leadership contest. Its run by socialists and social democrats and makes some really high quality videos, much better than conspiracy theorist trash like The Canary and Skwawkbox.

He clearly has no idea what Activate is supposed to be other than "Tory Momentum". He reminds me of the "what about the memes" alt-right kid from that video of a traditional right wing rally - completely and utterly out of his depth and oblivious to how much he's embarrassing himself and his cause just by existing. Lovin' it.

Is it even possible for Activate to be more BTFO than they have the last few weeks?

order-order.com/2017/07/26/sock-puppet-charity-iea-slapped-regulator-general-election-bias/
think wanks

is this real

From what I can see: yes.

If this is meant to be the tories' new ace-in-the-hole, then we have nothing to fear lads.

...

So much for the rich right.

The graun and indy are little fucking shits tbqh. The amount of shit they report on which they must have known was happening like half a decade later boils my fucking piss. Then they've suddenly become pro-Corbyn now that nearly every analyst in the country has been eternally BTFO, after ignoring the vast majority of people commenting on their articles calling them shite for two years.
I legit hate as many of their writers as I do writers for the DM and Sun etc. Suzanne Moore is a good example of one that need to fuck off and die pronto.

Top kek, after May had her Pyrrhic victory people commented on how she was finished and I jokingly said "Who's going to replace her, Rees-Mogg?" only for all the spergy out of touch Holla Forums dwelling Brits to shill for him hard as fuck with no idea how fucked in the ass they're about to get.

Are we keeping a list of these traitors for the Momentum firing squadsShetlands gulags?

Speaking of traitors, are we going to have enough New Labour MPs replaced to run a real party in time for a snap election later this year?

I was keeping a list of them but it started getting ridiculous when they signed the open letter about the EU revolt after the election.

I've got that list on my pc at home, I'll post it when I'm back from work.

It does need updating though.

I feel like I've been very patient with women; when I was a teenager I put up with column space being used up for the "Vagenda" with Holly Baxter and Laurie Penny. I even put up with Suzanne Moore being a crazy bitch and disowning her child and chastising someone else for doing the same. But now I think it's time someone finally said it: We should ban women from writing.

this is a real phenomena though
people don't prepare for female hurricanes because what is it gonna do, nag me to death?
amirite fellas?

As incredibly sad as it is, there is empirical evidence behind this article. It's a common misconception that hurricanes are given banal, effeminate names when they are not very dangerous.

Taking an ad hoc opportunity to moan:
I dislike what feels like a strong tendency for women at present to adopt a "whichever better for me" approach to power. Consider for example that we'd finally achieved 50/50 parity in parliamentary representation, and that this was lasting and stable. (As it stands iirc Labour is at a respectable 43%) I have a strong sense that regardless, we would continue to see the existence of all-woman shortlists for candidate selection despite the ostensible reason for their existence having been achieved, because it increases the poltical power of women and nobody wants to actively take on 50% of the population.

Not helping this is the fact that - and I don't care if it makes me sound like a bastard - most female parliamentarians are of a woeful standard, even compared to the remarkably low standards male backbenchers can be held to. Especially in policy terms women seem to have the worst possible political inclination of all: "I must surrender on economic issues so I can take power and advance my social agenda." Now, there are a lot of men who think like that too - but they're counterbalanced.

I can't marshal any real care to the subject, but it's part of the lingering unease I have towards politics, a sort of sense that I should just stand back and let women fuck it up and save myself any trouble.

Here it is

Yeah I wrote it, the problem was I had something like 50 names to add to the list over the EU rebellion and then realised we weren't going to have much of an upper party structure left.
Just realised that if you're a Labour Party member and haven't cast a ballot recently - go check your fucking mail. Gloria De Piero is standing in an election right now. Too bad, she's pretty hot.

Agreed, half the candidates on this ballot are women and once is assured a place. Considering De Piero is Progress it's pretty much a given that Chandwani gets a spot, regardless of the other two candidates. I personally didn't bother joining Momentum as unless I was to state my sexuality I would be kicked to the bottom of every promotion list.

hi lads

Truly the party of the working class

Wait, momentum is homophobic?

No, Momentum explicitly state every minority will get kicked up the promotion list on sign up, not wanting to state my sexuality, and not wanting to get passed over for promotion for not doing so on principle (despite not actually being interested in climbing the ladder) made me choose not to join.
That is, I'm not straight, but didn't feel I should be compelled to point this out to gain specialnormal treatment.

I've missed these comfy thread

Yes, Momentum is NAZBOL

All women shortlists or any identity quota based ones are just a ploy to diminish leftist influence in politics.

Let's say let's say out of 100 Labour Party candidates, that 10% are actually socialist and understand economic theory, class struggle etc, let's assume they are evenly male and female. What an all female short-list would do is effectively wipe out half the potential pool of socialist candidates available for that position ie liberals are overwhelmingly represented in society and can churn out "good" candidates by virtue of sheer volume, socialists are rare and have a smaller pool of talent from which to find a "good" candidate and are disproportionately hurt by all female short-lists.

I like how there aren't any shortlists based on wealth or class.

If there's one silver lining to the Blair years its the /comfy/ party political broadcasts.

Labour's best broadcasts were from the 1990-1994 era tbh. Perfect balance of ad-man slickness and a tendency to humour or humanity. By the Blair era the Vaseline had taken over.

As if Fry did some Labour campaigning. Always been pretty neutral towards him but I like him a lot more now I see he did a bit before Blair.

I normally think the pop-culture reference is pretentious, but in this case I really can't think of anything more appropriate: Even though you know the steak isn't real, if you could go back, forget everything, would you?

I had a lovely British summer comrade, went up to the peak District for the ycl summer camp and had an amazing time. Climbed up kinder scout with party flags and smoked a lot of fuckin weed. Good weekend. My friend is also trying to get McDonnell to sign a copy of the lrb when he's meeting him soon so that should be pretty funny.

Do you think the YCL would purge you if they found out you browse a reactionary Holla Forums board like Holla Forums?

We run it fam.

Oh shit thats a great idea. Should have thought of that when I saw him at a festival a few months ago and could've tried to get him to sign Das Kapital or something. Don't see why he wouldn't do it and would be a cool thing to have.

Get him to do Reform or Rev: and then get his answer in the back page.

Don't worry, Richard's already received the five Scottish Labour MP/MSP/MEP nominations necessary to stand thanks to Hugh Gaffney and others - they're just not listed on Wikipedia yet. All we've got to worry about is making sure he actually wins the contest.

Sorry, I meant SNP.

You don't think 0.4 percent of the population have a disproportion control? Zionism is the only right wing politic allowed here.

Stupid. Doubly so when Holyrood has zero control over immigration.
Even stupider. At least learn the relevant facts to accurately inform your own prejudice.
Labour have had a friends of Israel grouping for longer than you've been alive. The SNP only got a Friends of Israel society in 2015 or so.

The same parties have seats in the UK parliament and lobby for mass immigration, Not to mean't the fact that holywood may one day have that power.
Which is why I posted.
I forget sometimes how kiked they are.
You are making my point for me. You forgot the government lobbying they've been allowed to do since 2016.

You don't think it's interesting that the kike lobbying has been pushed so heavily post indyfef? They need all their bases covered just in case.

No, but pretending to be a victim and demanding a special status in a foreign nation while you do it, is a little hypocritical.

Non-humans can't have nations.

Obvious Holla Forumsyp is obvious, fuck off you brainlet.

You should be thankful. Your board is collapsing under the weight of its own ADHD. Try explaining why any of my posts aren't accurate.

Just had a conversation with some bloke at work who said we should bring national service back and that soldiers have too many human rights.

In other news, it appears the great withdrawal bill won't pass: high-up tory backbenchers are saying they won't support it because it gives to many powers to the PM: my money is still on a RED OCTOBER election.

Source? Which backbenchers? Is Revolutionary Rob about to show us his TrUe CoLoUrS?

Guardian don't have the article up anymore, but it was some high-up 1922 bloke, and if they say they can't support something the government is slightly fucked.

Exactly one month until the start of October Revolution 2.

Two months lad…

Fugg. Always forget that, my bad.

New YouGov poll confirms that the Liberal Democrats are the /woke/ choice for true communists in Britain. Perhaps it's time to dump Comrade Corbyn and Revolutionary Rob, and instead consider supporting our boys in orange.

Gee, I wonder which faction could be behind these numbers?

COMRADE CABLE WILL LEAD THE PROLETARIAT TO LIBERATION

He was so radical that they had to nominate Ken Livingstone instead of him. Apparently He was in a Marxist Soc in his uni days: has he just been playing the longcon for all these years?

That is a very real possibility. His stare definitely suggests he's hiding something.

wtf I love Lib Dems now.
Interesting chart though. Working class is very low though which is something that should really be improved. Saying that the NRS social grade system classes basically anyone who works in an office as at least "lower middle class" which I think is slightly outdated due to lower wages within these fields nowadays.

Yeah the actual working class percentage is almost certainly much higher. With all the pits and steel works closed its pretty obvious that not many people in northern Labour heartlands like Liverpool and Newcastle still fit into Grade D, especially with more tech companies and the like locating to cheaper cities.

WE'RE COMING BUCKOS

This tbh. Teachers would be like C1, despite being pretty proletarian. This is the nature of the post-industrial economy.

Corbyn's true position on mass economic immigration a good deal is more nuanced than it appears, IMHO actually less of a gift to porky than the real policies of May's Tory government.

But you have to admit that the #VirtueSignalingWelcome impression Corbyn offers to the public in every media statement, vilifying everyone opposed to foreign scabs as a screeching racist, is the gift that keeps on giving for UKIP types.

Triangulation worked to get Brexit through without personally dirtying Corbyn's hands, but I'm not sure if it's a valid long-term strategy on immigration.

Indeed it is. Corbyn doesn't want dirty bankster migrants that do neo-liberal things like being profitable or imperialist things like actually taking a liking to the country that allows them entry. Those people aren't his friends and allies, they aren't "vulnerable", they commit the cardinal sin of not needing him.

It's good ol' John's Birthday today. Hope he unwraps a revolution.

I doubt anyone really believes that chart. If 56% of all 'working' people were in managerial and administrative positions society would cease to function.

Also hilarious in light of this data is the charge of 'stifling bureaucracy' that capitalists always make about "muh big government"

First as Home Secretary, them as PM, May and her party have presided over one broken promise about immigration policy after another, and consequently record-breaking levels of immigration:
telegraph.co.uk/news/uknews/immigration/11827172/Immigration-statistics-expected-to-rise-to-record-levels-live.html

In contrast, Corbyn has been advocating for concrete solutions to the lawless status quo immigration and corporate exploitation of disposable scab workers:
newstatesman.com/politics/staggers/2017/07/jeremy-corbyn-wholesale-eu-immigration-has-destroyed-conditions-british

As I said, Corbyn is far from the unequivocal positions on immigration that I would prefer, but he is a far sight better than May's hollow gestures toward ex-UKIP voters.

Just because something is profitable, it doesn't mean that it's good for society.

You do realise that money isn't real right? It's a merely a means of exchange within a social apparatus like a game to distribute societies resources.

At least when an poor immigrant "steals" job he often provides society something tangible in return, wealthy oligarchs who have extracted their wealth from the impoverished 3rd world who then speculate on housing prices are sucking up a disproportionate amount of resources and get even wealthier in the process at ouour expense.

But do keep licking the boots of the rich and wealthy, maybe you'll find a job waitering them at a restaurant well beyond your affordability and that of the general populace.

You're truncating out the professional part.

Hes just another lying politician.

any of you wankers applied for volunteer? we need non-burger mods

those are some sick labour gains

The poster below is secretly a jazz musician! Tell him to HOLD THE TROMBONE, BUCKO or your theory levels will drop down to critical levels in less than five minutes!

I think you mean "competent politician"

He said he was in favour of it during the election and now hes going back on it. I'd hardly call that sparkling clean, people remember.
I suppose that is another way of saying liar.

[citation needed]
The EU is not the single market, dr. bad faith.

Anyone intelligent enough to have an attention span that long will remember he's been opposed to the EU since before UK entry. Anyone else is too much of a nincompoop to notice anything beyond a news cycle or two.

Polish strawberry pickers out, Somali scum in!

Even though May has been -willfully or not, it doesn't really matter with a judicial apparatus that makes an immigration stop and deportation of foreign criminals impossible (the human rights act that doesn't go far enough for Corbyn)- useless in stopping the tide, at least she has the intention of having an immigration policy that does not favour the people that have been turning Swedish and German cities into the dens of foreign gangs and ghoulish imams.

I'm not referring to job "stealing" migrants, I'm referring to the migrants for whom Corbyn's support has marked his political career; actual members of terrorist friendly and allied organizations, gangsters able to avoid deportation after impregnating their prostitutes thanks to the human rights act and refugee children from a strange and distant land where 14 year olds look 40 and suffer inhuman pain when undergoing a simple dental x-ray to check their age.

In his appeasement and willful blindness, Corbyn has been a bigger useful idiot than any of the Rotherham councilors, par George Galloway, there is no Englishman as deep in the pockets of the British Ummah as Corbyn.

The 🍀🍀Irish🍀🍀?
The muh Hezbollah muh Hamas meme is a matter of supporting foreign organisations, not migrants.

And I'm sure that this unfulfilled, practically unverifiable rhetoric from the Tories is super trustworthy.

Only if they detonate bombs or make village greens look like one has been detonated.

He also supports their imported branches, being well connected with them through the stop the war coalition and numerous other front organizations of which he is a prominent member. Like I said, name one politician better connected with the British Ummah through their fronts par George Galloway (another Corbyn ally).

And I'm sure you'd rather have the IRA waging war on Britain than have Britain sell arms to the Saudi's, such things have to wait for the moment the Saudi army attacks Britain of course.

And I'm sure the Tory government are completely innocent of involvement in Islamic attacks on British soil.

As surely as I am that you'd be screaming your lungs out if they actually cleared the vipers den, as you are already doing about the prevent strategy of not having sharia promoted at universities.

We're already supporting Rojava, the best chance today at truly cleaning out the vipers' den, instead of flailing pointlessly at the symptoms of deeper problems.

He's not against Brexit; he's opposed to the Great Repeal Bill and always has been because its such a scummy power grab.

This. The GRB is being opposed quite a few backbencher tories since it gives power to the PM, not Westminster (or the other parliaments).

With ISIS retreating in women's clothes, a Britain where the gender identities of Jihadists won't be invalidated would surely be a strategic asset to Rojava, cornering an enemy and having them fight to the death would only lead to needless loss of lives for the YPG.

And there I was, understanding nothing of those who rally against liberals and conservatives who state that transwomen aren't actually women while simultaneously campaigning for the inclusion of those who preach sharia, I just couldn't see the genius of it!

Are you a Conservative Party member or an actual leftist Corbyn critic?

Neither and I don't see how you could mistake me for any of the two based on my post. A leftist wouldn't talk in the terms I did about immigration and no Conservative Party member would ever post on Holla Forums.

There are plenty of anti-immigration leftists and Holla Forums is full of Tory members.

Burger here who's probably moving to Britain in a year or two, how's the leftist project looking over there in general? Has Chairman Corb re-energized a new far-left movement? Are you noticing more far-left exposure in the media since his gains in June? Is Britain, like America, accelerating toward groucho totalitarianism and mass civil conflict? Is there any hope for y'all? I'm looking for good news.

Fuck off, we don't want you.

Sorry lad. I want a PhD and Brits have good schools.

back to pol

Interesting excerpt from "British Party Politics and Ideology After New Labour" on how Blair did. Note however that it predates the 2010 election so you basically have to read the last paragraph through euphemistic lenses (i.e. the hints towards community-welfare actually just being "get the state out of it and who cares about the poor")

There was another bit about how he inherited a centre-left country and left with it being a centre right one, but I don't think it was in that book and I can't find it on short order.

I'm very glad even Blair has recognized his legacy as an absolute failure

...

What are the actual odds? I found a load of his union membership booklets a while ago but nothing to do with the party. Still an amusing thought.

Should we start a new UK Posadist party, comrades?

Tories pushed through a bill on the bases of 'this will wholesale transfer EU laws into British law, and if you don't vote for it you're just making brexit harder'.

Problem is, the bill puts the powers of the translation of these individual laws in the hands of the PM, instead of parliament or any other 'democratic' process.

Unfortunately, it passed despite some intense debate from both sides. Someone in the tread broke it down better but i can't find it now.

So now, any previously EU laws (like the European Convention on Human Rights) are now solely in the hands of the PM on how she may or may not translate them into British law, and knowing her record, enjoy your lack of workers rights, union rights, banned encryption and being snooped on somehow worse than we already are.

Have you JUST read the news from the past week?

Someone get the Webm of Skinner talking about how Benn used to have Posadists show up to his rallies.

Why live.

keep digging

Don't have Skinner but here's Healey.

YES THIS IS IT
Tbh why couldn't we have had PM Benn. We would be at FALGSC by now.

What are his chance of winning though, all I know at the moment its just him and a "moderate" taking part

Sorry mate, I wrote this comment half asleep and didn't realise it was a reponse to someone. Will try to do better in the future.

Richard Leonard launch was good fun.
Most of his staffers are Socialist Action, or Campaign for Socialism, so mostly Leninists from what I can gather.

No Thank.

I can't see the Tory MPs letting Mogg get anywhere near the party membership run-off vote tbh.

Ayy lmao we're comin bucko.

Pretty decent, he is the trade unionists' favourite, supported by the Corbynophiles and the hard left. Ansar only really has the red tories on his side.

Leonard wins unless SNP supporters join labour because they know Anas Sarwar would kill Scottish labour.

I mean some SNP supporters might join to support RIchard since a lot of leftist peeps joined the SNP when SLab when full blairite.

Also Scottish Labour is rebounding regardless: most recent polling puts them gaining 6 Holyrood seats while the tories lose them. This is without any major change in the SLab, with Richard it could surge.

That's a good user.

craigmurray.org.uk/archives/2017/09/save-craig-murray/

Whistleblower and political activist Craig Murray is getting sued for libel.

Please help him :(

He's being sued into financial ruin by some zionist daily mail prick because Craig called him a liar.

This prick just so happens to be the same prick who smeared Jeremy Corbyn as an anti-semite. Oh boy.

"In 2015, I published a series of articles exposing Jeremy Corbyn’s links with anti-Semitic figures, and this led to what is now known as the “Labour anti-Semitism scandal.” "

The Zionists in this country are a fucking pain in the ass, they're hand in hand with Progress. What did he call him a liar for?

Donated and bought Murder in Samarkand which I've been meaning to do for a while.

The guy, Simons, sneaked up on Craig Murray and called him an anti-semite on live television, quoting a sentence from Murray's blog ripped out of context that has the word "tribe" in it or something. Murray didn't recognize the sentence, assumed Simons was just being a scumbag as usual and he went all "I didn't say that shit m8 you're lying."

Does May actually know what the internet is? Don't know how even people on the right support her. They're always going on about how commies want 1984 when they're trying their best to make it themselves.

Yeeahhh bbooiiiissss. Now everyone is focusing on "well they didn't support (not, it doesn't say they actively opposed him) Corbyn" and not the fact they are one of the fast growing unions because they are unionising places like McDonald's.. Watch out for the USDAW: they are going to grow into a major thing v soon.

The USDAW's leadership was dumb enough to support Owen Smith, the pharmaceuitcal lobbyist who literally had the job title "government liaisons officer" whilst working for Amgen and had a similar role when he worked for Pfizer.

I like to think this was like in America where the pro-Hillary unions were the ones where the executive decided who to support instead of balloting their members.

motherfucker looks like a stupider john oliver

Iirc the unions don't consult their membership much on endorsements.

Regardless, USDAW will be a big thing in the left in the UK. Let's hope the election has knocked sense into them.

"D-d-don't vote or canvass for him guiz! H-he won't be able to do anything anyways! Just go protest like you usually do, right fellow lefties???11""

I've seen it all now

see Anas Sarwar's campaign team accidentally dropped every detail of his life down to his favourite brand of toilet roll when they released his tax records.

PDF gone now so it's a bit Twitter-hearsayish but basically they uploaded a PDF of his tax records to show he was a good boy, but all the personal details (NI number, address, bank details, tax advisor phone number) were covered up with red box graphics rather than actually redacted, making it trivial to copy-and-paste them out and read them.

Probably illegal to dig for the PDF now if it's out there [since it was taken offline on his end], but fucking hell. That is some level of incompetence.

Thought I'd share this with you all.

That is mathematically impossible.

The name, the "Corbyn snatched defeat from the jaws of victory" and that line made it perfect. To make it better someone else has given him an upboat just after I posted it.

"Brits think class is more important than idpol"

The Indy decided to send whiny pisspants shite Tom Peck to narrate Labour's conference. It seems like they never want anyone to read anything by them ever again, at least it will be cheaper for this to happen to them since they've been out of print for ages.

tldr

"Brits think working class is an identity"

working class is both an identity and a material factor.
many of the working class do not have working class identity, but instead "middle class" identity. indeed, most "class" idpol seems to centre on the middle class. (particularly with the language shift from "working class" to "Lower middle class")

there is of course not really a middle class in material terms. (Or if it exists, it's petit-bourg rather than just "wage labourer but they get a good wage")

The speech was alright: good shit on the economy, weak on brexit, use of "socialism in the 21st century" is a bit unfortunate and he could have phrased the Palestinian stuff better.

The thing is a lot of the "middle class" have a proletarian mentality: teachers for example. Wage workers who are well off still unionise and shit in the UK, and I think there is real potential there for the real movement.

What's the problem with this?
I didn't watch it, what happened?

Associations with Venezuela…

He just didn't phrase it well. Accusations of anti-semitism are always going to come with criticism of Israel, but going with the "we should build a ME that works for the ``proletariat`` " would be better tbh.

Honestly the accusation of anti-semitism don't seem to phase anyone so I'd be happy if they kept piling them on since when they do this it seems to have the opposite effect. It could even turn public opinion against Israel.

broke: britain creates all its arms exports in house for its current clientèle
WOKE: jeremy corbyn comes to power and nationalises the arms industry and sells arms to anti-imperialists around the world

If Brexit ends up a total mess or cancelled (almost certain) then there will be fascism in the UK quicker than on the continent.

Is this he guy that said he's going to re-nationalize the energy sector? 100% BASED.

politico.eu/article/labours-grassroots-left-wing-tired-of-cult-of-jeremy-corbyn-momentum/

Sound's like shes reading directly from a comment on a Stefan Molyneux video

*walks towards you and blocks your path*

I appreciate the dub dubs but if Corbyn gets in, he will understand the importance of a reasonable brexit

This. Freedom from the Tories is only one front in the battle, freedom from the neolib fanatics that have infested the EU is another crucial tactical victory.

half the point of brexit is to turn the clock back, a culture war by pensioners and little englanders, and at some point reality is going to intrude on the delusion and people are going to be very angry

clarify?

I don't think "little England" are the only ones angry about the EU

The idea that if only they leave the EU they can be a relevant and major global force again, that they will be able to do what they want (sovereignty), that they will be better off financially, and that all the poles and the pakis will be kicked out. None of those things will happen.

lel

the main attraction for me is Corbyn can spread leftism with impunity without the neolibs tugging at his collar

only if you are in the eurozone
no, it can be worked around.
yes where agreed. and the UK was the country that pushed hardest for expansion and freeness of trade.
there are ways to minimise that, other countries managed it.

Good. Cuts of Personality are a bad thing and Debs himself said liberation can come from the proletariat alone. The movement will last far longer if it morphs into one of ideology outside of Corbyn the man.

Also reminder that Corbyn has been a brexiteer since before 1975.

It's quite impressive how Polly Toynbee has managed to become one of the least shit Guardian journalists.

What a terrible paper.

laughing heartily at Leonard's team sending an email to journalists with the subject line "Coment [sic] on the latest Jackie Ballie pish"

It is a worrying possibility that Corbyn is a victim of his success. It is good that Corbyn didn't turn the snap election into a presidential one like May did, but Momentumn needs to transit from about Corbyn to about leftism in general

...

Reminder that Benn is a extraterrestrial comrade.
t. Posdadist gang.

shit that.

Anyone going to the Rally in manchester on sunday? Already got my flyers ready.

being a german lefty is suffering

WAIT THERE IS A RALLY IN MANCH ON SUNDAY? WHEN AND WHERE!?!

Tbf Wagenknecht is based, SED and FDJ lass.

Yup and this absolute Beast will be there.

WOOPS wrong one :V

Saw him do a talk thing at Glastonbury with a few other people including one of the leaders of the Greens. He was definitely the best speaker in that group though. There was a bit of a q&a bit afterwards and I was thinking of asking him some commie stuff but couldn't think of anything at the time.

Eh never a great fan of "muh countar protasting toriiesss!!!" but tbh with the lineup they are cockteasing I will go.

I really want to go to that debate, it looked interesting, but by the Sunday afternoon we were all too knackered. What did they talk about?

So if you're going, what should our codephrase be?

Iron and copper

Narwhal bacon :^)

I was going to say "google bookchin", but
Google Narwhal copper is it then.

Lads should I try and infiltrate the Labour society at uni or just join up with the socialist workers party?

DO NOT TOUCH THEM WITH A BARGE POLE.
Entryism is perfectly fine, might end-up being the middle class "can't we just get along" types though.

If at a loss, try to see if there is a SocApp branch, they're the good shit (also a labour sub-party).

I know the word idpol get branded around a lot but bloody ell they did look rather obssesed with it.
I'm in Leeds so there also the leeds independent socialists although they seem to be more focused on linking up with trade unions and getting pissed at pubs but there you go. I guess that might be worth a look.

I'll be honest I can't remember a lot of specifics. As with most of the things there it was more of a talk than a debate because there was pretty much a consensus between the four people on the panel. The topic was something along the line of "Is Democracy Broken" which might have been more dividing if Labour hadn't done so well a few weeks earlier but because of that they were all a bit more optimistic for the future.
I remember them, especially the green bloke, talking about FPTP for a bit as well as the possibility of other voting methods and about Grenfell tower where John said the people were murdered by political decisions because of failures in democracy. I think he spoke briefly on Tony Benn as well which was nice. The other two guests were pretty unmemorable but not bad by any stretch.
The q&a was mostly unrelated questions, a couple idpol ones but they were ok for the most part. It was also nice to have a sit down and just listen to a talk in the middle of the day.

Well that and the fact if you are also a femanon the SWP has a massive history of sexual abuse.
And independent soc groups can be interseting, tend to be more locals than students though: they might not like you there.

I suppose dictating the morals of some obscure tendency to the soc-dems over at the Labour party looks the best bet then

Tbh it tends to work if you sell it right.

Unironically, it is quite easy to sell Bookchin to liberals and have them turn actually red/

Im in a independent one at uni, they tend to have quite interesting talks on left wing topics as well as being a center for organising local left wing activity, though its mainly quite small things like handing out free food or campaigning against something the council is doing its still nice to be able to talk to people who dont think the labour party is the most left you can go. Also I go to a pretty Tory/rich uni so its nice to get away from my middle class friends.

>Trots
Liek pottery

Pretty comfy this.

Bonus Jezza in this one.

Has anyone interacted with younger Labour supporters/members outside of here? Do they even count as liberals?

HITCHENS IS /NAZBOL/

lel he really fucking hates lolbertarians I for which agree with him

Reminder Hitchens was a militant member: so is he NAZTROT???

At uni yeah, most of them are middle class "lol let's be nice to each other also the welfare state is great" people. One is kinda woke but lacks theory.

is there anything more fucking grim than The Big Issue?
(inadvertently found myself on their website and they literally say word-for-word "We believe in a hand up, not a hand out", it's a good thing I had my EpiPen handy or that dose of regurgitated ideology would've been fatal.)

For some reason this made me google "the absolute boy" and I found this cancer

We Nazbol now

Right lads, see you at the Manch rally. Remember, the call sign is "Google Murray Bookchin".

Standing next to the unison sign on the left of the stage lad

...

Where abouts? Has it left yet? I am about a 10 minute walk from town and I am not 100% on where to go.

Still speech's. We're at the castlefield bowl

Thanks Comrade, I will be down as soon as my phone is decently charged.

Brilliant

Rock up with your own bloc of lefty uni mates, try and get the soc to swing more momentum than progress. See them all vote for Liz Kendall & Owen Jones. Give up, never go again. Not that we're bitter or anything. Things might be different in LabSocs now that Jezza smashed the Snap Election so YMMV.

Sounds pretty comfy.
I think by that point we were all sat in a ring of hippies singing to us up by the stone circle so I fully agree.

luvin every laff tbh

whoops, mixed up and

need to move to the north

March starting now

/burgerland/ here

What level of disgrace am I

A broken clock if I ever saw one.

A large one mate.

Fuck hell that was good fun, missed McDonnell though and the lads that gave me a red flag asked for it back at the end.

Wil upload photos later.

Real commies would have let you keep it

uhhhh uhhhhhh yeah but it's worse when corbin duz it

I don't even know who they were: "Red Bloc" they called themselves. Tbh they did look kinda cool and most of them were fit.

get out my country

you're good, he's speaking tomorrow in Manchester Cathedral
you have to register for the event btw

never satisfied, because they don't want to be
cunts

It's all SNP Scots being opportunistic cunts because obviously Sturgeon gives a massive shit due to it being related to independence referendums and tweeted about it four hours earlier. The funniest I saw in the entire Catalonia escapade was an Iraqi getting mad and calling them traitors, took me a moment to realise why he was so butthurt.

Thank you comrade, I will put me De Leon questions to him there.

WAIT LADS, it is saying I can ask a question as a member of the audience: what should it be?

"Have you Googled Murray Bookchin?"

When I saw him I thought about asking him if he thought reform could really work for achieving a socialist system but then I figured he would kinda have to say yes in-case there were cameras 'cause the media would have a field day with it if he said no.

Obligatory 'Go back to plebbit'.

*McDonnell stares directly into a pap camera*
"No, socialism is only possible through violent revolution"
*McDonnell proceeds to glide away gracefully, maintaining eye contact with the filmer*

towards the end he did say he wanted to "go further than reforms"
he a crypto-revolutionary now

What do you all think about the Tory conference? It feels like May will at least last another year the only competition is Boris who is hated by many in the party

Well did you ask him anything?

May is on stage giving her speech now. Things are going on. No surprise to see cum gargling shitbag Tom Peck in the crowd.

Kek this made me laugh though

Hahaha she's stolen Corbyn's organ donation opt-out policy.
