Rohingya genocide

cbc.ca/news/world/myanmar-burma-rohingya-bangladesh-migrants-1.4266365

What ought to be done in this case? Granted, the obvious solution would be have the West take in as many of these people as possible. But the West didn't create this problem (Myanmar has been a rouge state cut off from the West for decades) so the typical emotional blackmail that would apply to Palestine, Iraq, Libya, Somalia, etc. doesn't really apply here.

Any country which supplies the Rohingya with weapons to resist continued violence and ethnic cleansing would, unfortunately, be in a de facto proxy war with China, as China is Myanmar's biggest ally and supplier of military aid. Muslim countries who like using this as a means of showing how violent Buddhists are don't seem to be doing all that much either; Erdogan the hypocrite called out Myanmar the other day but what the fuck is he doing to help?

This issue seems like a clusterfuck all around.

this is good and not our problem

...

Why? Why is it obvious? It's not obvious to me.

Why would that be a bad thing? Here in Canada we have plenty of space, particularly in our cities. Given as to how Myanmar was once a British colony I think it would be best for them to be shipped over here.

It's only a matter of time before this happens. Amerika will do whatever it can to weaken China if China gets too influential.

Seems more like a job for Indonesia, Bangladesh, and Malaysia. S and S-East Asians can manage their own affairs.

Are you sure?

We need to spread democracy and freedom there.

If the West isn't involved, then we need to work to get the West involved so that we can then condemn them for it. I literally cannot think about the world and geopolitics unless it's framed against America and within anti-imperialism.

I mean, if they make it here and prove their origin, they deserve asylum. Clear case of ethnic and religious persecution. But any real solution that also helps the poorest people, who can't afford to come all the way to the West, will need to be organized by local sympathetic powers. Unless you are an imperialist that would like the West to keep on being the "world police".

Fuck off Holla Forums.

user…

not an expert on the matter and I'd be happy to get linked to some unbiased information on the conflict. i'd just like to throw in that the rohingyas aren't exactly quakers either apparently.

Listen mate, my first world country cant even take care of its own homeless population or stop ISIS radicalisation, we are still being blamed for yugoslavia, what makes you think there is anything usefull the west can do? They litterally only fuck shit up.

Yes, they have their own insurgencies, which is one reason why other countries like Bangladesh don't want them because they know the violence will immediately spill over, similar to Afghanistan/Pakistan.

Also why tankies never bring this shit up. They're willing to through actual Muslims being persecuted by "peaceful" Buddhists under the bus in order to uphold "socialist" China.

If you go one place and people mistreat you they are shitheads.
If everywhere you go people mistreat you are the shithead.

There is no such thing as "persecuted" muslims.

if this is a genocide on peaceful muslims by agressive buddhists how come 71 buddhists were killed by muslim militants in attacks last week?
does anybody have unbiased information on the conflict? oh and i'm not a tankie.

google reserve army of labour, in the unlikely case this isn't a bait

Sauce?

Sounds like these Muslims are just attacking because they were provoked. Islam never allows you to attack unless you've been attacked.

Simply being a kuffar in the presence of muslims is provocation enough WHEN WILL YOU IDIOTIC NAIVE BRAINLET LEFTCUCKS LEARN

oh will you fuck off with you silly bait Holla Forums. thanks.
still looking for unbiased information though.

Simply being a nazi in the presence of most people is provocation enough.

Not an argument.

Shut up kaffer.

I'm not Holla Forums and I'm not baiting. Islam has a very strict set of rules when it comes to warfare. I have a hard time believing "Muslims" would attack unprovoked.

problem is, muslims are easily provoked these days. keep in mind buddhism is atheist and buddhists are not considered a "people of the book" in islam, so they're basically fair game.

Why do people dumb as you exist?

So prove that this has anything to do with the issue in Burma. Buddhists attacked first to my knowledge.

And what does this have to do with the conflict? You're starting to sound like Sam Harris.

We need more brown town. Bring em over boys!

proof? source?

i was questioning the "genocide" narrative by posting a reuters link. read it.

i have never heard of sam harris.

If you are going to invoke who muslims may or may not attack based on their religious teachings obviously the buddhists lacking the protection status of "people of the book" is a pretty big factor, no? Are you being stupid now or are you being disingenuous now?

It is a fucking genocide. It's been going on for years.

how is it a genocide if two sides are armed and kill each other?

You're talking about a small group of defenseless Muslims against a brutal dictatorship. It's a fucking genocide.

yes i know the genocide narrative pushed in the msm. now how does the fact your small group of defenseless muslims raise a thausand armed fighters and staged a concerted attack and dozends of targets, killing at least 71 innocent (just using your moralizing language) buddhists fit into this story?

note that this was not the first act of violence form the muslim side. there was a similar act of war by the rohingya last october. i'm sure the burmese governments' reaction to these attacks was overly harsh and hit many rohingya who were not actual belligerents ("innocents" for you) but what is a government supposed to to if there's a massively brutal ethnic conflict within it's borders? sit by the fence and watch?
before you give me an emotional response about muh genocide please sit back and consider my question. thanks.

one more thing about your moralizing language and your manichaeic innocent oppressed minority/exild deictatorship narrative. Aung San Suu Kyi, the burmese head of government, was a pet of the west until recently and was hailed as an almost saint like figure who would bring muh free markets and muh democracy. now you chose to demonize her as the incarnate devil. is the t"the new hitler" [TM] ? notice a pattern here? saddam, ghadaffi, etc…
what's the purpose of this manipulative propaganda? did Aung San Suu Kyi somehow hurt western interests and needs to be disciplined now?

Blame isn't zero-sum. Another instance where both sides committed acts of ethnic cleansing against each other's civilians would be Yugoslavia (though obviously the overall balance of power favored the Serbs).

Maybe they don't "attack," but they do spontaneously explode an awful lot.

Talking of Burma; which of the (many) insurgent factions does Leftypaul support?
