You wake up to the news that there is a huge wave of protests swiping the country. After a few days of mobilization, you realise people won't stand down easily, and they want change. This is your one-in-a-lifetime opportunity, but how do you seize it?

How do we make sure the dreamed spontaneous popular uprising won't either die a quick death or, worse, be used by forces of the right or the deep state towards ends antithetical to our own?

Just in case anyone is wondering wtf I'm talking about, this is thread for sharing practical insights we've gained from experience, from studying protests and revolutions, from following the shifts of popular opinion on certain movements, etc.

Occupy Wall Street already happened and it accomplished nothing

So?

So what could have been done better?

OWS was a total joke. OP's scenario probably would be too if it happened today. It'll be decades before USAmericans have the level of class consciousness needed for revolution.

what does that mean?

It will be like Ukraine, 2 weeks after it went to hell all the different groups were like scrambled eggs. A few months later, unrecognizable. Youre going to die.

idpol garbage, get off my board.

we'll be senior fucking citizens.

I literally googled "protest art" or something and saved the first pretty image, eat a dick

Even if that's the case, there will be tons of protests until then, and historically socialist parties and movements only grow when they prove themselves capable of handling their shit when those happen.

All revolutions have rehearsals preceding it, and if you drop the ball in one of those no one trusts you the next one.

No, more likely in our 40s and 50s. Global warming means we'll either see communism or the total destruction of civilization before we die.

look at this pic of Stalin surrounded by many different Soviet ethnicities. Guess he was an idpoler huh.

The party will have to constantly draw a line between itself and liberal/opportunist movements. Part of this means not always participating in every single protest– sometimes launching critical protests and propaganda.

Eeehh, not sure about this one user. I don't know of a single historical party that abstained from popular mobilizations of any type and didn't lose the public's trust eventuallt.

It'll be a squandered opportunity because we haven't laid down the necessary community organization and dual power.
Either we'll descent into fascism or a succdem will take the opportunity to take power.

Disgusting

There are even more blatant examples, like the Slav, Asian and African one. Can't be bothered looking for it because tashes are dumb as fuck anyway.

Well for one if there is a reactionary popular mobilization, you obviously have to abstain from it or counterprotest. But the same goes for liberal protests. Look at the anti-Trump rallies when he got elected. Absolutely swamped with liberal ideology. Marxist orgs had to have separate protests.

Fuckin' seize something important, suddenly everyone has to either shit or get off the pot
