they definitely appealed to westerners in this one. the scoutflies are mostly an amazing mechanic. Area interactable wildlife that helps in hunting is also a huge step up.

MH:W is just a less grind-y MH. Mechanically it's the same game if not a bit more. It just trims the fluff to a slightly more manageable amount.

If you liked MH for the grind without ever really doing anything, then sure, there's less to do because there's just less outright material grind with a bit more focus on actually trying to fight stuff rather than just always perpetually prepping to fight..

I mean the story right at the end was rushed and stupid, but the build up to it was okay. The demon fights got pretty boring, and everything that was supposed to have some kind of emotional tug at it fell pretty flat, but oh well.

The art was actually one of the things I enjoyed the most. It was a nice break from what we'll call the usual I guess. It made it stand out, and not in a bad way.
