Former member of an insurgent group, overthrows the government, kills and then dances in the blood of the rich, doesn't give a fuck about anything. IS Rick Sanchez the Ultimate Egoist? The supreme incarnation of Max Stirner?

is he… /ourguy/ ?

No, actually.
He's spooked by nihilism, and it actually makes him miserable in the long run. He can't get over that nothing objectively matters. The dialogue between him and the shrink was kind of trying to point that out. Probably the only egoist main character I can think of is One Punch Man off the top of my head, albeit he's an involuntary egoist.

why is nihilism a spook tho

This is why I love Holla Forums so much. You guys seem like the only smart board on this entire site.

nihilism in and of itself isn't a spook, but the idea of it hangs over Rick like a ton of bricks. The lack of objective meaning for Rick, means that he can not assign anything meaning for himself. That's why he can't move forward and stagnates contemplating suicide in his garage.

What make you think Saitama is a egoist ?

Yes. Also, he realizes that he's not even unique and that everything he loves and cares about cab just be replaced.

People shit on the pickle-Rick episode, but it said a lot about Rick's psychology and the lengths he'll go to avoid confronting his real issues.

And also this. Any thread on Holla Forums will be dragged down by stupid Holla Forumsyp cobtrarianism.

I can't seem to post images in this thread, or else I get "XSS Exploit - Post Discarded"

Oh fuck off back to reddit.

since this is basically the designated reddit thread, does anybody have the /r/socialism "you're golden" pic?

In the anime, it isn't outright apparent, but in later chapters of the manga, Saitama has a long conversation with one of the biggest villains in the series, Garou. He questions Saitamas motivations and what they literally come down to is that he plays the hero because it's something he enjoys doing. It's almost a game for him.

I don't watch reddit & Memey, why is there a backlash against it so bad that people is watching Xavier the Renegade Angel out of spite?

Because of the edgy contrarian brigade who tripfag while telling people to go to reddit

...

People aren't watching Xavier out of spite; it's a genuinely great show.

Fuck off, XRA is a poor imitation of King Star King and you know it :^)

You see OP, Rick and Morty is a "deep enough to appeal to edgy people while also just scratching the surface to be able to sell to the masses" type of show. Things the spooked masses enjoy including all forms of non-anime and fun are not allowed on leftypol.
/s
Don't we website tribalist, people.

still asking for this. I feel like I was drowned out.

Here's some more panels just to illustrate my point.
Garou literally thinks he's some kind of monster because he doesn't fit his fixed idea of a hero.

...

honestly I never watched this because it seems to be made by and for the lol-I'm-such-a-nerd crowd, and this picklerick crap only reinforces that notion

bumpin

It's not. It's sort of like Family Guy if every episode was Stewie.

Shame. You're missing out on a perfectly good show.

...

I sure hope this is being ironically drawn like shit. This mango had good art.

No. As points out, he is shackled by his own nihilism, unable to create any meaning for himself.

If you want to see an actual egoist character in a piece of media, look no further than the Master from Doctor Who.

ONE is actually the original artist.
His style has always been….unique. lol

that's not how Stirner thinks… The Master kills people just to he edgy, Stirner doesn't view self interest and altruism as antithetical

G T F O

I think that depends on what you mean. Altruism is generally seen as selflessness. Stirner says it's possible to be concerned for others without rejecting the self completely. For instance, restricting my hedonic impulses because I care about someone does not mean I have given up my cause.

Yes but why? Why do they dislike R&M?

Never said it was bad but there is a new interest on the show just because what is happening with R&M

He's a self-described hero for fun with no legitimate motivation for his actions. Instead of celebrating when he annihilated an enemy in one blow, he is devastated to see what could have been a fun challenge be defeated so easily.

Describing R&M like that is an easy way to make sure no watches it.

You really convinced me with that anime girl at the end, way to reveal you're just an incredulous 2D waifu loving cretin, you may as well have posted a pony whilst you were at it.

It's an irreverent spoof of Back To The Future, picklerick is their version of Southpark's towlie episode ie deliberately low effort and holding the audience in contempt.

This, it's not as pandering as people are making it out to be and even mocks the audience.

I'm pretty sure the creators also spammed pickle rick on Holla Forums in order to force a meme and generate free publicity.

Oh..oh my god I get it now.
I get what Holla Forums is all about.

BOTSWANA

Why would they need to do that? Show is already really popular. It was probably some stupid autist.

While I don't mind watching it I don't get why imageboards dislike it so much, it seems to be because Holla Forums feels the need to constantly lash out at reddit (who love the show) because the site used to run ads there and half of them are shameful former redditors. Although bullying reddit is necessary, hating something they like to be contrarian is faggy. However, discussing TV and shit from a Marxist perspective is reddit tier lifestylism, nobody gives a shit except bored reddit Marxists. I imagine the poster spamming pickle rick in numerous threads is most likely a Holla Forumsyp having a kek, but if it is it's probably the most nuanced and subtle trolling I've seen them do here, so it could just be reddit.

This is the real joke of the thread.

Every single fandom now.

including feminism

Rick Sanchez is a cartoon and does not exist.

is this what you would call dialectics?

so what?

Yes and no.

Yes he is the supreme egoist as access to infinite versions of the universe has i his own words precluded the need for attachment. He can and does do as he wishes and jump to another reality. He can revel in the infinite possibilities of the entire cosmos, with access to teleportation, seemingly at will.
Yet he is presented to us in ways fundamentally flawed in the mold of current ,target audience culture. He is, in short, a moralizing character. A Humbert Humbert to be straw-manned, lead and beaten by the almighty writer when the appropriate points need to be driven into the audience.

Reminds me of Breaking Bad and how Walter White ended as this sad, irrecognizable parody of his past self. As if character development had been eschewed entirely, in favor of putting an easily digestible cardboard cutout borne from straining the original character through the filters of PC/IDPOL.

In both cases the producers seem to conclude that if they throw in some eye-candy and shallow spectacle, the audience wont notice the cardboard cutout getting torn down to the tune of doctrine.
