There is an argument to be made that all far left movements are just a means to achieve power, and once achieved, the goal is just to maintain that power by any means necessary. Young people, who are more idealistic and narcissistic by default, are usually needed to help this process often called useful idiots. People die because beta males can't handle their lot in life. Even in the case they are not CIA fronts, their presence is pale when compared to the actual reactionary elements - mostly accomodated people from upper-class neighbourhoods such as those in Caracas. A left opposition (such as what some Venezuelan trotskists have proposed[1][2]) means jack shit in the current situation.
Since the Venezuelan people are objectively better under a Chavista regime than under a bunch of neoliberals installed by the CIA, the struggle must be against the opposition and in favor of the Constituent. Of course state power also means jack shit without a consolidated people's power, and could easily turn against it's people in that case. If anything, organization at the basic level must be strengthened to sustain the attacks from the opposition.
