Opposed to the rich variety of combos in other Zelda games. The weapons being limited in use was great, forced variety and functioned as a pretty good motivation for continued exploration.

The eating spam could have used work, like an animation or something so you couldn't just do it in combat, sure, but the items in prior Zeldas were a joke.

There were a lot of options in MM and OoT, but I do acknowledge it did have massive limitations in combat. I just found that 4 or 5 weapon types in BotW having a jump attack, and a one cycle combo lacking personally. And finding anything cool was killed for me knowing it was just going to be gone anyway. I think a repair system outside of just the 4 clans main weapon or whatever would have really gone a long way, as well as improved durability for stronger things. And while combat wise most of the items were pretty eh it did add more to exploration and other weird quirks. I found the ones you got with the slate to be kind of awkward to use. Not bad, but I just couldn't use them in combat situations, and they were just kind of cumbersome to me in general.

Cooking was a delight though. I don't know why.

Cooking systems or mini-games in videogames always get me for some reason, I spent hours on the food crafting system in the Star ocean games

I found Monster Hunters to be a nice distraction, though I never found it crazy useful.

Food items were crazy useful in Star Ocean, the only problem is you could not use them while in combat.

Outside of combat there was something for anything, healing, magic refill, resurrect, status ailment, sometimes all of those in one food item

I could get rezzed to full health from dead with topped off magic and it would still cure my paralyses like I cooked and brought that shit with me everywhere

Having it be temporary was great though. It probably could have been balanced better, but having a constant variety is always nice, the resource management / threat assessment of choosing when to pull out your good shit is always welcome and just having a reason not to always use your +7 flaming sword of whatever is something I greatly appreciate.

The slate items are definitely kind clunky but at least they genuinely mesh with the world. They very deftly avoid the "item only useful in dungeon" problem that Zelda's always been plagued with. They didn't need specific shit designed to use them, because they interacted with the world and it's properties on the whole.

Cooking and finding ingredients and recipes was great, but god damn did yellow health items need a nerf.

One of the major issues I had with BoTW was how it would throw a large quantity of enemies at you sometimes over a large variety of enemies. If there were more end game challenges like the Lynels I think the game would have benefited greatly from the variety of more unique and dynamic enemy varieties, so battle's felt more engaging with the enemy rather than just the environment, not that it wasn't good to get some focus on the environment.

I only played the one for 360 with the little retarded summoner girl.

The idea was nice, yes. But for me personally it wasn't done well. Though as I only beat 3 of the main areas and the final boss before I had to sell it for gas money my inventory was limited in space so I might have just felt more rushed to find more swords and shit.

And as for the dungeons I missed having actual dungeons thematic to an area. The pre dungeon fights were fun, and the boss fight area for the bird was rather neat, but it all felt samey in the end. At least with the 3 I did.

I just warped and got hearty durians and cooked 5 for max hearts. It was sadly abuseable.

I don't know. It was fun, and I really enjoyed the game as a whole, but there was so much empty space in the world just there to walk through. Not always bad, but with so few different enemies to really fight and just slaying moblins all the time I found actually having to fight tedious.

And the blights were alright I guess, but the final fight against boar ganon was so....bad....

See those big fights are where the environment interactions shine through for me the most, because they're more useful. Random enemies it's barely worth doing anything unique half the time. I remember the first Lynel I actually fought was on those savanah planes next to the desert in the south south-west of the map. Lighting fires, flying up, shooting down at him with bombs which created more fires, landing right back onto my horse. On the other hand, even like the first time I fought those spider things in the combat tests, which overused as they are really are the game's closest thing to a unique and dynamic enemy, was barely memorable at all.

When you end up in the scene where you accidentally peep on one of the characters in the shower, it was all so awkward and dumb.

Yea...they did a great job creating the world, and laying everything out, it's just a shame they didn't do more to fill it up and flesh it out. It's a problem I never really see open world games past a certain size get around, it's just too hard to fill up all that empty space with enough unique and cool things like Terry town.

If you even had like 4 or 5 enemies like the Lynels, and even just like 3 or 4 more mini-boss types, and like a few dozen more old zelda enemies, like just re-use the one's from the old games holmes we do not mind!

gotcha, ive played a lot of games where single hit attacks are king and multi-hit attacks are very weak, so this is useful applicable advice

If an attack has 60 power and hits three spaces, it isn't 60 power per target.
It's 60 power to each target.

HP and MP recover whenever a Digimon levels, so don't worry about using a lot of big attacks very frequently.

They never communicate it well, IIRC, but Aptitude is the hard-limit your Digimon's level at that given moment. It goes up whenever you Evolve or Regress.
