I figure you nerds would like Victoria II, but is there anything else? I love the game and all, but it's eight years old and hasn't had any new content in like four years.

Banished is good, everyone works together, there's a centralised store where people take what they need, encouraged to educate your population, no money only trade with people from other settlements by giving them what they need in exchange for what you need.

I took that image off google and am unfamiliar with that event, but I do know that in Darkest Hour you can start as Germany before Hitler took over and instead have it so communists win and take over the country. Then you can either ally with Stalin and easily steamroll Europe, or play "hard mode" by opposing Stalin and starting your own rival commie club with blackjack and Trotsky.

it's not the one, but there is a mod called "Communist Germany" or something. It gives you a few options to play as porkie germany, but it gives you a shitload for commie Germany. Ally with the USSR or don't, invite Trotsky to the government, pick from Marxism-Leninism, Market Socialism or Social Democracy, loads of events to spread the revolution, it's the shit.
It's basically the #2 best mod behind Kaiserreich.

Fuck yeah, Banished is awesome. And it's full communist without being edgy about it at all. It's not a statement, it doesn't throw communism in your face. It's just there, accepted as a gameplay mechanic.

What was the last Civ game that had global warming in it? I know civ 2 did, but I was really disappointed that I could clear my continent of vegetation and build coal powered factories in every city and nothing happens in the New one

It's not exactly a socialist game, but I've grown a huge liking to Shadow President. Every single game I've had has resulted in a varied and interesting world forming from my actions and the doings of the AI.
There's just so many cool things that can happen. I've seen Libya get coup'd by Islamic fundamentalists and slowly, over the course of a decade, transform into a military power that I had to nuke to get rid of. At one point, I saw protests in the USSR turn into ultranationalist terror attacks and eventually the Soviet Union turned imperialist, causing an unstable alliance between the fractured communist bloc with the USA, eventually resulting in WW3 as the new imperialist bloc tried to expand into Japan. I've seen global nuclear war poison the neutral parts of the world, and watched how they fell into civil war, regional conflicts and dysfunction. Pic related.
I wish more games had such an open ended fashion, in which so much can happen. It really makes the world feel alive when things aren't just static numbers and behaviors, but rather things that change based on changes in the game world.
That game is like crack for me.
Nothing beats balkanising France and taking all of the rightful German clay.
Putting a German monarch on the UK throne is also pretty fun.

I fundamentally misunderstood the budget and spent six months setting all spending to zero because I thought I was actually doing inputs.
The results were ~unusual~
I still haven't figured out how the budget tab relates to the revenues and spending tabs.
It was a lot more fun even if it made me paranoid to browse.
Has anyone played a Kaiserreich game as Mexico? Every time I have played the same, they usually attack the USA during the civil war and either chicken out or just take like Texas or something and peace out.
I want to play a game where I just rush in, restore the Mexican empire, and save the CSA, but idk if this is viable.
Everything by David OReilly was released on steam a couple weeks ago. It's really fucking chill and I approve it.
Not sure about it in the current version, but in the last version they seemed to run out of events before WW2. I wouldn't recommend getting too invested.

Well for one Duty helps normal stalkers and they see the zone as a vile being that needs to be destroyed also the mercs (read:the zone porkies) are one of their enemy
Also there is a fallout mod that makes the NCR the soviet union and the Legion the wehrmacht but unlike most WW2 mods it changes things like NCR flag and signs for the USSR flag and soviet propaganda while the legion flags are replaced by the nazi flags (also Caesar is literally hitler so that nice)
only complaint is that the Legion only uses gewehr 43 and nothing else
also the Soviet ranger helm is way brighter than the normal so you should use the riot gear one or just use the neck cover mod that still keeps the normal one

the original is still one of my favorite games of all time
