Tbh this is dubious - not just the statement about leftists, but the principle as well. While I agree that it's important that the people be armed so that they can oppose the state and represent themselves, I'd also agree with some on the left who'd prioritize non-violent communal work and organization.

Of course non-violence is generally desirable, but it must be backed with arms. The enemy will only surrender if they know that the only real alternative is a bullet between the eyes. Violence is never desirable, but always justified, and sometimes necessary.

Fair, but I'm not sure that everyone on the far left really does agree - especially not the "libertarian" left side (green on the chart) who often cling to pacifist values.

mostly I'd say to have fun! draw a lot and don't worry about how it looks. get in to creating something that you enjoy drawing. that's how the real masters made it to where they are.
beware the trap of "drills" and "studies". those are necessary occasionally but mostly you should try to figure out how to make it as relaxing as possible for yourself and mine the creative part of your brain for the cool shit you've got locked in there.
that's the amazing thing about art, your output is different from everyone else's. so even if you think you suck, then at least remember nobody can suck quite the way you do.

I hear this book is good for beginners: (ISBN) 9780874774245. And this is my favorite art book of all time, I pull it out for reference every once and awhile (heh): 9780571202287. hopefully that helps and let me know if you have any questions. :D
