Ah, I've only ever really played crazy hours of all Fallouts, never really ventured to the Elder Scrolls side before this.

I've played a ton of fallout as well. probably around 50 hours of fallout 3, near 100 of fallout new vegas and at least 200 of fallout 4.

What are your plans for the new year?

I never really use VATS in 3, NV and 4, mostly because it makes everything RNG-based instead of mad aim skills, and doesn't really allow shooting enemies behind cover as much.
I think it's only really ever useful for executing special melee attacks and grenade throws.

It's somewhat fun, until you need to micromanage too much and everything goes to hell.

Well, I've only put 100 hours into it in one character, kind of min-maxing and doing everything that's possible.
Mostly just using a freezing gauss rifle because around 500-600 damage in one shot without crits.

i use it a ton
since i like plotting out how my character will just stand in front of a horde of eneimies running at me and all i have to do is vats all their legs and they all fall crippled before my feet~

Basically all my carry weight is put towards a good rifle, something for closer distances, enough ammo for the trip, and food/drink/meds/etc.

I just really like getting the power armor out with a minigun/power armor and go all space marine on enemies.

I think there's a fixed-spawn for Hardened version that's just like the M40, which I assume it's based on.
I don't know why, but I enjoy when the guns look somewhat like their real life versions.
Although the AK/SVD in the latest DLC has the charging handle on the wrong side.

The one in Fallout 4, it's a katana with flamers on it, instead of a fuel-pack and a machete.

Aiming for the head, and relying on sneak attack damage doesn't guarantee you a kill, especially not on higher difficulties and higher levels.
