All these cryptic comments and anonymous leaks to the media are shady as fuck and don't mean anything. Why give support on either side, or hop to the defense of the Russian government as it stands, or the US government as it stands, or to instantly even care whether its true or not.
Everyone involved in this fiasco is an asshole, so having feelings either way about the US government eating itself alive that isn't positive is stupid. It doesn't matter if its lies, there's conflict going on inside and that's a positive thing.
As far as I read it was suggesting that they were confirming more, but I could have been mistaken. Regardless, giving this much shit about the authenticity of the US government isn't my guilt but it is yours.

This is nothing new to politics in the United States, lying is the foundation of all of it. But the very fact at a time when the American people are needing for the US government to nut up or shut up, that it's eating itself like this, is only a net positive.

I almost hope that they find tons of dirt on Trump just so that the conspiracy theory I have been thinking up ever since 2016 holds true: Comey is a Republican puppet and by first investigating HRC and keeping that whole scandal going by publicly declaring it is unfolding at the most dubious timing possible (but ultimately not being able to find any evidence of wrongdoing, of course) and now after the election of Trump investigating his camp (and definitely finding dirt on him) ensuring that a Republican party-friendly president ascends to the top of the US government and makes sure porky can implement the exact agenda he wants to.

I'd assume because it's relatively new. Personally, I think it's probably true - it's consistent with US/Russia relations and we do know that Russia was putting out anti-Clinton propaganda in the run up to the election, and they indeed had a pro-Trump slant for a period afterwards.
Even if I assume that the agencies are using this as leverage against Trump, it could also be a significant reason why they're attacking him to begin with. The "attack" is also a completely realistic motive in light of shady stuff going on before the election.
The extreme sides of it are largely just argued along party lines in the US.

Their 'confirmation' consists of a report in which they admitted that they never actually inspected the DNC server, but the private corporation the DNC paid to inspect it and say it was Russia is totally trustworthy.
