You wake up one day

What do you do differently?

So basically the war is won and there's nothing much to do other than rush towards Berlin?

I keep fighting Nazis. What else?

...

use chemical warfare so i get remembered as an even bigger tyrant

I liberate Greece and Manchuria immediately and arrange for the NKVD to assassinate Tito, Khrushchev and Orwell.
I order an immediate translation of Marx's works to Chinese
I tell the Communist party to never provide aid to Cuba.

why

because it's a meaningless coastal island in a continent of impoverished and exploited people.
Cuba was the US's call for reigniting the Monroe Doctrine, a Successful revolution in Mexico, Colombia, Peru, Chile or Brazil could turn the cold war around, instead we got literal SocDem with guns at the US shores.
Tito and his non-aligned movement were an amazing excuse for populist movements around the world to engage in class collaborationism and eat away support for actual revolution.

faggot tankie, when do you subhumans ever get tired of being wrong and retarded

tankies are socdems on pcp so its wierd for them to be mad at socdems

Don't backstab the Anarchists, and make allegiences with America.

...

That is exactly why you want to start a revolution there.

Invade the rest of Europe.

...

1. Win war stop allies for taking over a portion of Germany

2. Make USSR and satellite states a democracy

3. Continue cold war

4. Fund revolution everywhere.

Don't forget to shoot down the airlift into West Berlin and annex it.

Don't pussy out on Greece and go balls out in Korea
You can't let the cappies drag you to concessions that will end the spread of revolution

...

Smoke America and rush Berlin

Begin a 5-years plan to dissolve the state in all of conquered satellite countries. Good luck conquering that back, Porky.

Just when I thought tankies couldn't be any more cancerous.

this is the most disgusting thing I have ever seen

invest in computers and try to elimimate war from existence via advanced soviet technology. Abandon the nuclear project. Abandon the space race. Everything for soviet computers and ai. Automate everything. We post scarcity now, comrades!

...

The only reason US didn't nuke USSR was because they'd get nuked back.
I say keep the nukes, but make sure you just have "enough to explode the US and enemies 1.5 times". Maybe some nuclear tests to scare them a bit, or for research into nuclear shit, but no tsar bomba. That'd be a waste.
Tone down the space race. Focus it for useful shit instead of propoganda. Like GPS or some shit.
Make sure there's more direct control of people over their MoP. Not just because it's good, but also to limit the amount of bureaucracy needed to handle things. That just breeds corruption.
Infiltrate large corporations. They have less intelligence agencies and less ideologocally blinded servants. Meanwhile, they still hold all economic power.
Fund any sort of socialism in any place. Try to focus on getting them printers to spread propaganda and shit and try to get the participants to volunteer mostly. No sense in paying others to get them to pay others to do your work.
Act like an adventurous investment firm when infiltrating the corporations. You'll find the things that will get most popular then.
Help illegalism in other places. Smuggling shit to them is last-resort, best option is to get them to produce everything on location, so they become self-reliant.
Oh and stop making the USSR such a shithole totalitarian dictatorship. And hope Orwell still writes good dystopian literature after that.
Make sure there's an united socialist front. It will consist from everything between stalinists, leftcoms, annihils and demsocs. Try to emphasize the common causes and intentions. People who focus on side issues will be asked to STFU, though they can still watch. Note how the borders lie at totalitarianism, uselessness, more uselessness and state-capitalism with parliamentary characteristics, respectively. Everything within this area should be able to work united.
And I think that's everything I'd do so far.

Bollocks.
The USSR didn't get any nukes until 1949, fully 4 years after the US did.
The US literally had hundreds of the things by the time Stalin's program got off the ground, and a large battle-tested strategic bomber force to use them.
They could have bombed the shit out of the SU whenever they felt like it.

Win the war against the germans (they already lost at that point) and keep the tanks rolling west

And right into a mushroom cloud.
The Americans being the sole possessors (at the time) of atomic weapons were one of the main reasons Stalin didn't do just as you suggest.

Why do you people have such a hard-on for Makhno when he was essentially an autocratic robber baron?

Plus the fact that the USSR was in ruins and had lost tens of millions of people in the war against Germany. Hardly an opportune time to take on the basically unharmed USA.

Try to assassinate Mao. Sponsor a Chinese leader who isn't pants-on-head retarded.
Don't appoint Ceaucescu and Kim Il Sung as leaders of their respective countries.
I just invade Greece and puppet it. Churchill is welcome to try to stop me. Finland doesn't get off as easy as they did IRL either.
No German land for Poland, just set up a bigger East Germany.
Devolve power down to the local soviets. Make the system work like the constitution claims it would without all the nomenclature and patronage. Still no other parties or any tolerance for the advocating of bourgeois restoration.
Make sure bureaucrats and managers are constantly rotated to prevent them from stagnating into a permanent elite.
Make developing something like the Internet our #1 priority so planning can actually work efficiently without as much corruption, misinformation and lack of control.
Something like that.

...

Nuclear weapons back then weren't the long range automated doomsday missiles we have today. I can assure you the US would've had a very hard time trying to nuke the USSR in 1945

You know without Cuba, you'd still have nukes in Turkey pointing at you?

Mainstream history doesn't tell you this, but the Cuban missle crisis was a HUGE victory for the Soviets.

It could have happened, though.
And with little or no meaningful retaliation from the Soviets.
Fortunately for all involved, the US public was sick of war by 1945, and the USSR was in no shape to continue fighting for long, either.

The Soviets had a great land-based fighting force, but practically nothing in terms of naval or long-ranged strategic aviation.

The Soviet Navy was conspicuously absent during the war, save for land based soldiers and a minor submarine force.
They also had no large, long ranged 4 engine bombers save the ones that they interned from the Americans, the Tu-4/B-29 copy was not ready in any numbers before 1948.

The US had the largest navy in the world by a long way at the end of hostilities, and the Strategic Air Command was operational by the end of 1946.
They had hundreds of long ranged B-29's and B-50's, long ranged piston fighters, logistical aircraft and jets as well.
A good chunk of it was based in Europe, so they wouldn't have even had to go much farther than they already had been in order to bomb Germany.

Would it have been easy?
Of course not, the Soviet airforce was still pretty damned good in spite of being mainly tactical in nature, and the US would have had difficulty doing it, but it could be done.

We should all be grateful the war ended the way it did, because it could have been much, much uglier than it already was.

Pretty sure the Red Army could have pushed the allies out of Europe quite quickly, and then the USA is stuck in Britain, nuking its supposed allies in Western Europe without a way to get close to Russia.

Before whatever stocks of lend-lease supplies the Allies were giving them dried up?
Maybe, maybe not.
And the Allies weren't so terrible at land war either, it could have been a push.
If it came down to it, and the Soviets had turned on the Allies, the Brits and Americans would have very likely allowed the Wermacht to continue fighting, as indeed a lot of them wanted to, to counter Soviet aggression.
And there were some in the Allied High Command who were openly in favor of nuking their way to Moscow, Patton, and LeMay being the obvious ones.
As I said, it would have been even uglier than it already was.

I played every Hearts of Iron game there is.
1944 is too short to accomplish anything, but I should be able to get whole Germany and Austria, the Benelux states, Norway, Denmark, the Balkans, Greece and even pieces of France and Italy.

I'd refuse to let go of Northern Persia and establish worker's councils in said region.

I'd mobilise against Japan and try to liberate Manchuria, all of Korea and invade Japan. At least we should be able to snatch Hokkaido and Northern Honshu from them.

Also I'd start my own Manhattan project. It's a necessary evil, and even without hindsight you could assume these would be useful soon.

And as someone with scientific background I am my own tech team and I myself would offer to work on cryptography and computers with my fellow Soviet scientists.

Cuck Mao - instead of giving the land I conquer to him, I just turn it into my own puppet states. Greater Mongolia and the People's Republic of Manchuria sound like much more reliable partners than a fully united China.
