Zizek Appreciation Thread

This is a great thinker of our time. Hes written about 75 books, gives lectures, and does debates. He is the next Hegel for fucks sake, and all we do is memeify him. Lets give him some credit.

I don't know how he finds the time. I guess a cocaine addiction helps.

...

He's pretty good and currently I'm convinced that his loudest critics are the ones that understand him the least, if they've even bothered to read him at all.

...

Anyone else actually read his books? Violence is really good

...

Absolute Recoil and The Parallax View are great, plus Plague of Fantasies is also good and more similar to perverts guide to ideology but hardly ever mentioned as an entry point to his work unlike tSOoI.

Zizek also writes excellent essays that I highly recommend, I think I might prefer Zizek in essay format than book.

...

I have his book Living in the End Times, but i feel im too much of a small brained wojak to read

What's it about?

no idea user

He's probably almost single-handedly responsible for reigniting a general interest in the communist movement with his excellent pedagogy and sharp commentary.

But then there's crypto-smashies like this guy though who are in the dustbin of ideology and couldn't for the life of them understand context and nuance. CrimethInc or the local anti-fascist LARP club will forever be much more to their liking.

systemic violence in the most part

All I've got

Zizek is an opportunist that will say anything for money, including endorsing Trump, and cites anti-communist propaganda like Chang and Halliday. Also the only reason he's published 75 books is because he copy pastes things he's already written to pad them.

lmao

I love Zizek but calling him the next Hegel is ridiculous.

...

...

...

Didn't he get caught plagiarizing a while ago when someone noticed that a few paragraphs made sense?

What do we do after he dies? Is there any up and coming talent to become our new meme philosopher?

me

Kek. His explanation was that a friend shared some "notes" with him and implied that he could use them as-is, turns out the friend had copied the notes word-for-word from elsewhere.

Things are looking grim. If Zizek happens to die from an overdose real soon it'll be Badiou for a while, but after that the old guard will be near-dead, and I don't want us to be stuck with losers like Sam Kriss.

...

Sam Kriss is better than Zizek and is actually a communist.

Sorry son, the rod ain't coming out today.

Not a fan of Badiou.

...

It's true though. Zizek ran for the liberal party in Slovenia and rationalizes pogroms against Roma, while Sam Kriss uses irony as a trojan horse to advocate for Maoism in mainstream publications.

This is great parody. Worker's Spatula, right?

Sharing is caring.

...

So he's your typical twitter liberal?

Why are philosophers often such petty people?

And I'm 100% sure you're the same type of idiot who believes in memes like entryism and Overton window shifting and that you unironically support figures like Sanders and Corbyn. This "argument" is on the same level as saying it's hypocritical to own a smartphone while being anti-capitalist.

All he's said is that the Roma are an example of particular cultural groups that cause frictions and that the typical ivory tower liberal response to ordinary people's reactions to said frictions is naive and something liberals don't want to hear. Pogroms my ass.

Sam Kriss openly stood out in support of several liberal European parties by their specific names in these last few years while having a daily routine of hipster shitposting on Twitter and maintaining a pop-postmodern Tumblr.

This is probably bait, but recognizing 20th century communism's failures and disavowing dead-end Stalinism varieties =/= being anti-communist: inthesetimes.com/article/19677/the-left-fidelity-castration-slavoj-zizek-fidel-castro-cuba-che-communism.

Their entire career is based around starting arguments with their colleagues.

Heavens forfend. We might have to rely on the departed, like Posada, to be our First Comrade. Tho North Korea already set a precedent on that.

Wow, you sound mad. No, I do no believe in entryism or other trot bullshit. The line about Sanders and Corbyn is cute, considering Zizek's warmed over eurocommunism and support for SYRIZA. What you call "dead-end Stalinism varieties" actually holds territory and has support from throughout the third world, unlike opportunists who endorse Trump. No, I will not read the article from your shitty socdem website.

This is a lie. Post proof if you can.

bordiga go home

During the DotP? Of course not. Point is that in Marx, socialism is a semantic synonym for the lower phase of communism, and Marx was explicit in saying that any form of post-capitalism invariably abolishes any kind of state, especially a state that stands on representing itself as a nation (bourgeois bullshit).

Yeah, so something like a labor voucher: a form of currency that has no way of circulating (unlike a fucking Rouble) because it is deprecated upon use for a commodity of equal value in labor time.

Marx made it beyond clear that such egalitarian types of schemes for capitalism do not abolish the law of value, which also explains why the USSR did have a law of value and measured its growth in compound capital growth (USSR literally kept by a GNP and GDP). In fact, this entire scheme you're displaying goes completely counter to what Marx said of other "socialist" models devised in his time, like Proudhon's. Now I know the USSR was Kautskyist bullshit, but you just literally demoted yourself to a mutualist outright, because you define a wage as a reductionist, where it is exclusively taken surplus in the hand of an individual proprietor instead of surplus appropriated for renumeration (which is why cooperatives also, just like "centrally planned" capitalism, are capitalism). Witness:
>Through estranged, alienated labour, then, the worker produces the relationship to this labour of a man alien to labour and standing outside it. The relationship of the worker to labour creates the relation to it of the capitalist (or whatever one chooses to call the master of labour). Private property is thus the product, the result, the necessary consequence, of alienated labour, of the external relation of the worker to nature and to himself…
>We also understand, therefore, that wages and private property are identical. Indeed, where the product, as the object of labour, pays for labour itself, there the wage is but a necessary consequence of labour's estrangement…
>Indeed, even the equality of wages, as demanded by Proudhon, only transforms the relationship of the present-day worker to his labour into the relationship of all men to labour. Society would then be conceived as an abstract capitalist.
(Marx, Economic and Philosophic Manuscripts of 1844)

Pitiful faggot.

but it does circulate, the use-value of a currency si to act as an accounting method, while the physical voucher is destroyed onc it is exchanged for goods, the information it provides is kept in the record book and is used to restarts the productive process again
vouchers do not eliminate the law of value, as the total amount of products in the record book = the total amount of labour

I love dis nigga so much my wife came in the other day and asked "Why you always watching that old dude?"

Mencius Moldbug greatest NRx of all time

you must show her the error of her ways and make her embrace the ziz

Zizek is A GOD

'the next Marx' is more accurate

These posts are a breath of fresh air., thank you.

e-book files anyone?

Reading Looking Arwy. still. Shit is heavy. Its taking me all my head hamsters to think like hes writing.

actually it is totally accurate, all he produces is one good, important book and then a bunch of other wizard-tier tomes that will never be in the mainstream of philosophy.

Where do I start with Zizek?

How is running for office for a reactionary political party the same as owning an iphone? Why does anybody think this a rational comparison?
