Class consciousness in tech workers

Valley bros are mostly Musk-workshipping lolbertarians, but recently I'm seeing nascent class consciousness develop in some circles.

Plus, the way big tech is colluding to keep their wages low has really struck a nerve. Is there still hope for them?

I don't know. The STEMlords I have met are some of the most classcucked people on Earth. I don't think they I have a choice about developing class consciousness though. Tech seems like its bound to have a huge crash in the coming years.

Future tech employee here, see myself as communalist or Luxumburgist. My qt who wants me to live with her is also a tech worker who's already a left leaning person tired of liberals and the status quo and I'm trying to really shift her.

It's just that when it comes to a STEM field, in a lot of them you don't need to go to grad school to earn bux so it draws a lot of people only in it for the money (capitalists)

Corp worshipping techfags are cultist-tier faggots, but it seems to primarily be an American phenomenon. Could a burger fill me in on why and how? I've never seen it outside of the butthurt belt or USA.

Every tech fag I've met here, from telecommunications, to programming, to just assembling computers for old men is at worst a social democrat, and regardless of their opinions on politics, they are always incredibly pissed off about the ongoing policies of large tech companies. This isn't just my group of friends, either, I've had the same talks with basically anyone I've worked or trained with. As a matter of fact, conversing with techfags is how I discovered socialism in the first place.

Two words: Silicon Valley.
When the revolution comes that place should be bombed.

I'm seriously thinking of dropping my CS degree and just going into something manufacturing related like CNC machining because of how fucking insufferable STEMlords are. Half of them are ancaps, the other half smug liberals.

Literally the most classcucked people on Earth. I guarantee within 5 years CS salaries will be shit just like IT salaries.

But that's because you're from some Anglo country, most likely the US, where no one is not classcucked in the first place. My own coworkers are pretty ok when it comes to class consciousness, and most of my uni mates are either left wing or nothing, but no one is a liberal.

Wut?

It's already happening, computer science courses are completely saturated and taken by every man and his dog. I swear, the massive push towards it is just to make middle level IT work cheaper.

Not so much with the countries north of Poland, though.

10/10 otherwise, I always thought these mid-eastern countries really sucked because of their politics, but I had never came to associate them with a geographical feature. So it's basically the countries that joined the EU in 2004, plus a few more.

techbros shouldn't be viewed like normal workers their goals are to automate people out of their jobs. how the fuck are you pretending to "unionise" the same tech workers who are working to make millions of people economically worthless (and this become lumpenproles).

Automation is good. Just not under capitalism.

pretty much this. There was an unholy synthesis of free-market worshipping and hippie lifestylism towards the end of the 80s to mid 90s in the US. It was promulgated by people like those in Wired magazine, and it was called the Californian Ideology: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Californian_Ideology
The whole movement really started when Benchmark Capital gave a decent amount of cash to ebay.
From wikipedia:
What they don't realize is how much of their industry and culture of Silicon Valley comes from initial government spending especially Cold War defense spending. It's pure ideology.

Yeah, I am really starting to worry that I may never really work in that field after all, I always wanted to be a computer scientist but changed my major, but changed back but later had a breakdown and didn't finish my minor in CS (majored in math). I hope I at least make something that serves the public in a good way, but I always fuck myself over by not concentrating on work. I should probably be doing my project right now even.

fuck

hahahaha what.

The more people that lose their jobs, the closer it is to revolution.

Plus automation is needed for FALC. The technological advancements made during capitalism are necessary for socialism to succeed.

Im studying compsci and like half the reason I turned to leftism is because capitalism offers me jobs aiding the goverment or corporations in surveiling people, participating in the raping of my web browser, or making some sort of garbage proprietary crapware for people with learning disabilities and a fear of technology to do shit they could already do. And then expects me to delude and doublethink myself into being positive about this.
I didnt even go into it for muh job at all, I just want to participate in UNIX autism and contribute to free software.
I hope this IoT trash takes off. I'd rather live on bitcoin from a toaster botnet than do any of this shit for a living. It'll all probably be automated by general purpouse AI anyways, or outsourced to indians. There is no future.

You and I both, comr8. Corps are turning ICT into a terrible shift-work consuming monster of a field. It's fucking depressing to see what it has been turning into over the past decades.

Tech people are generally smart, they can fastread a subject a graps a general useful idea, but in economy, like in most subjects, the devil is in the details.
So you got faggots who act like Scott Addams (he said he can master any subject in a few hours) thinking that they know the nuances of economic theory because they read some blogspot and wikipedia page, but they can only grasp with basic laisse faire and ancap because they didn't read enough theory.
What's worse is that most of them think being porky is at their reach.

That's literally their biggest problem. I used to think that it always boiled down to muh bad decisions, and while the individual has some control over destiny, his formative years are so out of his control that he could be fucked before even out of the starting gate.

Don't forget about whether your professor can write a decent recommendation to a friend of a friend who's a partner at some VC who could fund you, and then they have people clamoring for their money now, especially since municipalities of all types are throwing money around trying to attract people like that in the first place.

Looks like I might have to settle for being a teacher at some fucking public school who might only code on weekends. I fucking hate this. Figuring out how I could transition out of this is seriously fucking with me.

I don't there's something wrong on improving your wealth. I studied physics but I'm currently working on IA (I'm from a country where working in pure science is living in poverty and you still don't get to have access to any research oportunities). I certainly feel a lot better working and helping some friends on local philosophy confs.

I still try to address some issues with my coworkers, even if their views are pretty infantile. At least me being physic while they're engineers gives me an edge on their world view, so I'm not entirely dismissed.

s/physic/physicist/

Fuck, I should get some sleep.

Most programmers are invested in the stock market, and are therefore petite bourgeois. Even if they aren't investing, they are still aspirational, as they see everyone around them getting involved in startups with potential to "make it big."

This is literally the most revolutionary thing you can do though, since it brings us closer to FALC.
