The american constitution forces a two-party system. It won't work.

By the time the democrats crumble enough to make way for a new party, Boinie will be six feet under.

explain

No it doesn't.

Americans divide the country up into voting districts and only one candidate is chosen from each - the one who gets the most votes.
youtube.com/watch?v=s7tWHJfhiyo might explain the problem

It literally does.
Winner-take-all methods cause the spoiler effect which eventually leads to only two parties that can win.

Bernie already has created two parties. The democratic party is fractured. He just needs to declare it formally.

How could he betray his own supporters by rallying the official democrat candidate if he is on his own?

Yeah that is why he is still fighting and isnt rich like most republicans/dems

His past shows he is a big socialist, he supported clinton either because he was forced to or because unlike you, he realized what a danger Trump was and hoped that this was the only way to stop him.

absolutely. it's so obvious he's trying to play the system. if bernie didn't endorse hillary they would have politically assassinated him. shunned him completely and probably even blame hillary's loss on him. he has a seat at the table for the democrats now. and has leverage over them. in the short term we all thought he sold out. in the long term he has leverage.

The problem is after losing in the most humiliating way possible, the DNC is still controlled by neoliberals with a death grip, they will never let an actual leftist anywhere near power, they would rather a fascist win.

This is why the DNC has to be destroyed, you have to put immense pressure on it, how do you do this, you make them lose, over and over and over again.

If they lose every seat in 2018 then you can push them against the wall and purge.

The 2020 democratic primaries are going to be a clusterfuck, a final fight for the very soul of the democratic party.

The problem is that the media is pretty much the propaganda wing of the neoliberals who ignore the fact the DNC is in more fractured state than the RNC.

What also needs to happen is that every skeleton and DNC schism needs to be dragged in front of the public's eyes in the most loud and un ignorable manner possible

The only way Donald Trump doesn't get a second term is if Bernie creates a party. After the last election though, I'm sure Bernie fears the Dems and they will demonize him to no end if he were to create a new party. CTR & ShareBlue would be in full force trying to paint him as a monster for dividing the left. The democrats are currently prepping Corey Booker to run without a doubt. His post election actions are practically spelling it out. It's a shame but such is life.

Corey booker is diet obama with even less policy and more fused to the oligarchy

However, from American history we know that the dominant parties can die out and be replaced, I think we are on the 3rd generation of parties in the United States.

If Bernie-crats could get their foot in the door at the right time of the Democratic parties downfall, they could become a new dominant party.

Will this change anything? No, of course not, but its not impossible in the US system.

Corey Booker should wear pharma advertisements on his clothes. Fucking sell out

Well that's true.
There will always be two main parties, but those parties may change.

first past the post voting systems cause a two party system you mong.

very true

yeah he's very slimy and has a lot of pharma connections. I knew he was running when he very publicly cosigned Bernie's new pharma bill despite shooting a nearly identical one a month earlier. On top of that Mashable was paying to promote this article on Twitter yesterday for whatever reason.

You do realize that the american constitution says that they need to use first past the post right? You fucking dick wart.

Will you stop falling for this voting meme? The ruling class isn't going to give you control no matter how nicely you ask for it. Ask yourself why Sanders even made it into the primaries. People were on the cusp of realizing that voting doesn't matter and so they gave you a glimmer of hope and the revolution is stopped once again. If you want power you're going to have to take it by force.

There is a two party monopoly, but ask the whigs how they are doing.
It is possible that a party can die.
I think if the neolibs refuse to actually be leftist, it is preferable if the democratic party dies

The way i see it there are only two ways of changing things in this corrupt system, entryism, or destruction

i understand there was a big controversy on the election of perez as dnc chair over the bernie supported ellison
but for the life of me, after reading their respective campaign platforms, i cant actually see much of a difference
perez and ellison's strategies for organization are pretty much identical, and for that position thats really all that matters
i know at this point it doesnt really matter because perez has made ellison his "deputy chair" to appease the further left side of the party

Ellison wasn't the greatest but I still feel he was further left than Perez. Honestly I think Bernie would've endorsed Sam Ronan had he known of his existence before. The DNC was too caught up to even symbolically elect Ellison over Perez. That's how lost they are. Deputy Chair isn't even a real position.

It's the only choice left, or rename democrats

There is actually a third option: Work outside the federal constitution. State and local elections are conducted solely according to state and local constitutions, and can be made to use instant-runoff voting, as the state of Maine has chosen to do next election, and a few localities already do:
en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Maine_Question_5,_2016
en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Instant-runoff_voting_in_the_United_States

Aside from that, primaries are technically private affairs internal to parties, and could legally be decided by anything from IRV to coinflip if the party openly declared such to be their rules.

Going into somewhat more uncharted territory, my naive understanding of the constitution suggests it may be legal for state and local governments to switch to parliamentary systems, or fill legislative bodies by at-large proportional representation lists instead of direct election. Perhaps even, due to the abstraction of "electors", use IRV for their citizens' votes in federal elections.

We're in what's usually termed the "Sixth Party System" right now, pic related.

It was largely symbolic. Everyone assumed that Clinton getting assraped by Trump after the sham primaries meant the Clintonites were going to bow to the Bernie faction by appointing the candidate Bernie supported. The Perez appointment was a slap in the face by losers against winners.

Just the sheer gall of it declares their preference for political murder-suicide over conceding internecine defeat.

Gradualism is for queers
accelerationism is for real men

what is this myserious leverage that you're talking about, Bernie is just as irrelevant in the Democratic Party now as he was before he ran for nominee. Perez's appointment as chairman makes that abundantly clear.
It's true he has a greater platform and more influence in general, but that means nothing when he's never shown any willingness to take a stand against the DNC, who are much bigger and more powerful than he is.

Either of these is retarded, because the cost disease in both are disgusting.

Try telling that to socdems.
