You see , when you have a body of theoretical works in which you claim to base in science, you should probably base those idea in the scientific process. However, her work is built on the basis of a few things that should immediately set off red flags for any kind of reason for her works based on science.

First of all, she an orthodox Marxist academic. Now i don't really have a problem with orthodox Marxist's, mostly because they dont do anything in any functioning organization other then talk about marx which, if you wanna be useless but still feel like your feeling you are fight the good fight then go ahead with that. But orthodox Marxists are very bad a not being totality biased in their writings, as well as all other people of various ideological tendencies but i digress. The main point is she is staring with this fundamental base from a fundamentalist perspective, which is never good.

Second, she also belives in a fundamentalist interperatation of Freudian psychoanalysis. Now i wont go into why psychoanalysis is shit exactly because this post is already too long and most of you wont read this. To keep it simple, she presents psychoanalysis as a proven scientific fact, which if you are at all familiar with you will know this is as far from the case as you can get.

Now these two things, these two fundamentalist interpretations of ideology mascaraing themselves as scientific analysis is a recipe for Jodi Dean being able to spew whatever it is she wants and people will listen to her out of ideological solidarity because shes a Marxist as well as being an academic, she has the additional benefit of being able to say whatever she wants and still sound coherent in her ideas as being an academic grants one the skill of bullshiting your way through life with the ability to argue your position, no matter if the actuall position you present has an basis in reality and not just 'theory'.

Its like building a house on quick sand, if the base for your ideas is built on unstable ground then the rest of your ideas have as much weight as they sink into the base of their ideology.

I have actually. Im heavily involved in the BOC at my local, tried to organize my workplace until they shut down 1 week after i got some proper fuckikng training. Then theirs the GDC which has managed to organize a about a couple thousand people since it came back to life, IWOC which, if you've been living under a rock for the last few months was one of a few organizations that organized the Largest prison strike in US history to date. Theirs a few other things i could mention but that would be excellent for me as im currently being hunted by a culmination of White nationalist skin heads so it best to keep that shit to a minimum.

So ya, tell me more why i should listen to jodi dean and not continue actually organizing my community?

You should join your local, and if theirs not a local near you, you can start your own with a couple people.

Dues depend on wages. We take all members of the working class, unemployed, retired, students and those above's dues are only 6 dollars a month.

Now their are two main reasons to join the iww. First of all it will get you out of the house and away from the computer to connect with people who you are politically aligned as well as connecting you to various activist's and other groups. Secondly, if you are new to the movement, they are very accommodating, people are always willing to talk and discuss things you might find the majority of people (liberals and such) dont know about.

Golly! So what did the strike win for the prisoners? I bet with the whole iww behind them they were able to win some awesome and badly needed reforms.

I mean even if it gained no concessions it brought a lot of attention to the problems in the us prison system, and showed other prisoners that organization is possible. I expect we'll see a bigger strike in the future.

Idk I read that crowd and party book and found the central argument (the necessity of an organized party with central aims) pretty convincing. It would be more effective if you explained why her views are wrong rather then just attacking perceived flaws in her ideological beliefs.
