More millennials grappling with high debt loads, says bankruptcy trustee

Part of the problem, Mr. Kilner says, is how easy it is to borrow money these days. Credit cards are all-too-easy to obtain, and payday loans are just a click away. Those issues, combined with a lack of financial education and soaring housing costs, are laying the groundwork for a troublesome financial future, he says.

Women in Power: From Medusa to Merkel

Greek imagination has offered our imaginations a series of unforgettable women: Medea, Clytemnestra, Antigone. They are not, however, role models – far from it. They are monstrous hybrids, who aren’t – in the Greek sense – women at all. And the unflinching logic of their stories is that they must be disempowered, put back in their place.

Thanks, user.
How did nobody see North Korea coming? It's a clash of the egos.

Reminder that animu pics make anything 100% less relevant.

Maybe with THAAD, but judging from the lack of bellicose rhetoric from the Americans I would imagine they're either not 100% confident that they can protect Seoul or prevent Chinese intervention. NK would have to fuck up pretty hard, so hard that even China wouldn't have their back, for the US to threaten direct invasion.

what a fucking joke, they're center-right

Who wants to bet that China is orchestrating this so as to force Trump to deal directly with China to mitigate North Korean threat?

...

I think China really prefers that NK knocks the missile nonsense off because it perturbs the Nips and Nongs, which is bad for business. They prefer NK remain because there's a kind of entente in the region and they're not interested in having an advanced American ally on their border. It's as much a headache for them as it is for anyone else, and I imagine they'd rather be shot of it than anything since NK plays this game of antagonizing one side, then the other, to gain concessions or whatever. Sometimes though NK takes it too far, like that time when Kim Jong Un (iirc) was summoned to Beijing to get bawled out.

Mostly I think Beijing just wants them to stay quiet and not give the Yanks any excuses, but of course they can't.

Thank you news user.

...

Sure. That's why so many corporations are actively supporting it and tweeting about how great it is.

Bump

Whichever corporations are tweeting that, are ones trying to cater to their liberal demographic. Idk wtf that has to do with a fucking labor strike. The anti-"idpol" cancer on this board has reached the level of anti-"imperialism" from tankies. You're against a fucking labor strike.

they aren't labor strikes you tard

Ok

Ok. Whether it's effective with the level organization labor and the left have right now is another story.

I live in The Netherlands and I've noticed nothing and all my friends don't know anything about this. Only thing I've seen about woman's day is an article this bourgeois fat girl from school shared which was about 'mansplaining'. It was absolutely horrible and childish.

That's not an issue with the strike itself, but with outreach.

Are you simple? The corporations don't give a shit, it's not a labor strike, they want to be seen as pro woman because it's no danger to them, it's aimed at the big bad wolf character. IF men pulled this shit these Silicon Valley creeps would be going full Porky.

hahahahahahaha fuck you erdogan

After the mess from a few years ago, I kind of assumed Egypt was just in a constant low-level of civil conflict, especially with the Libyan mess next door.

Did you thank her for cuntsplaining it to you?

Give it a read, there's some keks in there from a minister in Turkey implying that Turkey is badass enough to fight Russia and the US.

Trying to paint opposition to this farce as idpol reaction isn't a substitute for an argument. A one day, corporate-approved day off does nothing to impair capital, especially when there seem to be no real concrete objectives or demands. It's a liberal bourgeois temper tantrum entirely divorced from the necessary elements of class and international solidarity necessary to make it more than that.

But don't worry, I'm sure there will be some kind of special edition Starbucks out soon to commemorate this historic event. Certainly if you buy enough of them women's liberation can't be far behind.

holy shit both Akira and Equestria Girls predicted the future

But your criticism is exactly in the same style as the ongoing trend in Holla Forums to malign anything that doesn't literally achieve full socialism as idpol.

Read the Guardian article.

It's a show of force, by women workers. For example, my local public school system had to shut down and have a day off for students because of the amount of women who weren't planning to report to work. And I saw the reactions of the high school students on Twitter.

Do you not see the immense benefit in this? Vast amounts of youth being exposed to the idea that workers together have the power to strongarm the upper class? Let alone being exposed to the struggles for teachers, unions, etc.

China liked NK when they were useful for annoying the US, but now that NK is insane, China is getting sick of their shit.

$63 per 6 day week…assuming 8 hour workday, that's $1.31 per hour, goddamn

No wonder violence broke out. And not unwarranted either.

There are two events today. One is the IWD march, and the other is the IWS (strike). IDK how they've been conflated so heavily in the media but they're not actually the same thing

Ah ok, thanks. Didn't know there was two.

But that guy is still arguing against the strike, ultimately.

And then the students will realize that it did nothing at all when a day they would have otherwise gotten off becomes a school day.

Saw this over less idpol walkouts when I was a kid a couple times as teachers tried to fight the insanity of the order of magnitude increase in per student school spending yet no actual raises. Administrators will extra the number of days they planned on from teachers no matter what.

The only thing we can be certain of is that the loser will be beaten by the one who wins, and at the end of the day the day will be over.

fijn hé, dat wij niet doen aan dit soort shit?
alweer een reden om blij te zijn dat je geen amerikaan bent

Party because of a concerted effort in the media. Everyone from my org that went to talk about the strike got edited to hell until they were actually just talking about fighting for women's rights in the march instead. Then they edited all the references to labor rights/striking/etc. out of our signage

I never called it idpol you massive idiot, even though that's the impression I get from your guardian article. Buy from women retailers. March for violence against women. Fight for abortion. Nothing about class, nothing about capitalism, nothing about the systemic exploitation women experience around the world. It's a fucking liberal jamboree, a festival of non-action with things going right back to normal tomorrow.

So no, I don't see any value in validating this smorgasbord of bourgeois identitarianism, especially as it masquerades as revolutionary struggle. That's the problem with it, not that it's by women or about women's issues or "doesn't bring full socialism", but because it's a liberal bourgeois outrage party pretending to be emancipatory politics.

Is that you Yogi?

Jihadists and even ISIS have a strong presence in Sinai and there's a low level effort from the Egyptian Army to get them out of there.

It is, this cut to bread subsidies could easily cause another revolution

Then you're an idiot. I'm not denying that a lot of this is liberalism. But there absolutely is class/international solidarity:

>In Peru women are demanding an end to “violence against women in all its forms: physical, sexual, emotional and economic”, and marching in 10 regions, said Jill Ruiz. “This is a historical action in our country and worldwide. Solidarity is our weapon.”

>The day’s origins go back to a mass mobilisation in 1908, when 15,000 women marched through New York City demanding the right to vote, better pay and shorter working hours. The first official National Women’s Day march, led by the Socialist Party of America, took place a year later on 28 February.

I don't give a shit how bad the messaging is (and if this user has anything to say, a malicious effort by the media) or how many people say #ImWithHer and #ImProudClintonCuck.

At the end of the day, this is a labor strike. And even if it's not perfect, it's fucking something, and will expose millions of people to the concepts of striking and labor organizing.

At this moment right now, some Clintonite shill on Twitter, Marcie Bianco, (twitter.com/Bro_Pair/status/839529953821671427) is calling this event today "reactionary", and that they should just vote for centrist democrats. So clearly if it perturbs assholes like her, then there is some level of revolutionary salt in this strike.

Enjoy your liberal tea party I guess you dumb, dumb idiot. Be sure to report back and let us know how the revolution goes. I look forward to hearing about all the progress made by this sublime people's mobilization.

Not like you were ever going to do anything anyway, no skin off my back.

Yup. He had no good argument to reply to me, so he came up with the profound "you dumb, dumb idiot."

Women should have the right to stay leashed inside the fuckroom.

Bump

Why would you bump this shitty thread full of liberals?

I'm kinda expecting that one day China will just exasperatedly give Washington the go-ahead and Murrka will go all out. I know NK has the capacity to inflict a lot of damage to SK, but Murrka has so damn much firepower that I wouldn't be surprised if they could destroy every damn NK military target in a first strike.
