I've seen a few threads pop up here and there about monster games. You know, the ones like Pokemon, Digimon, or Monster Rancher. Is there a collective name for this genre, or has no one really come up with on yet? I remember playing this one weird game on my GBC where you're a robot, and you knock yourself around an arena into an enemy robot, and then you can get their robot if you meet some sort of requirement. Is that any similar?

Monster Hunter is a no brainer for a Monster Hunting game.
Ive been playing Bloodbourne and you are called a hunter and you run around killing monsters but thats probably stretching it.

There's Dragon Quest Monsters: Joker. It's a shame they went for the fusion route, I've never liked the idea of wiping out two monsters I've worked on.

Insomniac used to have a browser game called Outernauts where you could catch monsters in space, breed them, and fuse them. Last I heard they shut it down due to not gathering enough whales.
If you want to combine your monster trainer itch and smut eramegaten is a pretty good game in itself even when ignoring the smut.

Speaking of, are there any good GBA/DS ROM hacks that make all Pokémon or events accessible without cheating or 3rd party stuff? I've done the legendary events as fairly as I could, but it's really autistic. I've been using Project Pokémon tools to inject the Mystery Gift into a flashcart save to then legitimately receive them on my cart save.

Yeah, it's a phone game. But half the monsters are legendary figures like King Arthur and Jeanne D'arc and the other half are cute little girls. It's insanely well done with some actual creativity and thought put into the mechanics. Even the translation is good. It's incredibly hard to believe bug people made it.

I played that game for a while. It's alright, but the difficulty curve is retarded and unless you put entirely too much effort and cash into it, the only thing you'll really be doing is checking in daily to get the log-in rewards, hope they are generous in giving out lots of special currency, and trying to land some of the rare monsters that have retardedly low capture rates because the devs are greedy chinks.
