Just having bot support doesn't make a game good for multiplayer. AI has to have good pathfinding, skill settings, preferred playstyles which to identify, etc.
And then there's games where the AI is just no fun, as said.
Unless the game has bot matches in it's core design, they're boring. Hell, Quake 3's bots, as challenging as they could get, they're boring and those are some damn good bots for the year they came in.

I'm tired of listing examples of series where something is always happening, hell look at FMA: Brotherhood, something is always happening, something is always developing, even the melodramtic parts is characters progressing the story instead of just endlessly brooding. Some episodes don't even have any action yet shit is still happening non-stop story wise
Gurren just has endless downtime in the middle of every episode where characters sit around doing nothing, which speaks to me the show had extreme budget issues in production and they had to pad out the run time for every episode

There is really good character development but it's buried in a sea of nonsensical plot to the point literal plot gods have to show up for 3 issues just to explain the whole reason for the series existing, and you find out 95% of the series literally had no point to be there
This is because Hiroya after achieving mega popularity of his ultra bloody/sexual series was given free reign to continue it forever with no rhyme or reason, and the only reason there was a conclusion reached is because the publishers finally went "Well we'll never see the alien vampires etc again, but we don't want to pay you to make much more issues so wrap this shit up please ok?"

Going through it now there's some minor plot development at the start, then Kamiya dies, then it's like 3-4 episodes of the beast king fight, after that there's a huge dead zone of nothing broken up by battles, skipping through the series shit mega picks up at episode 21 but that's because the entire series gets a direction and you know what's going on/why they're fighting/have a goal in mind
Kill la Kill has sort of the same problem where the final enemy is also revealed near the middle/end, but the entire series never loses direction because it's always Ryuko vs Sastuki for 80% of the series

VP9 is a definite improvement, you either get the same quality at a smaller filesize or greater quality at the same filesize when compared to VP8. Also forgot to mention it but you can also use 2pass with -crf mode as well.

Here's the first result.
Bitrate did finally stay where I wanted it to be, got some filesize headroom to increase it further by 5-10%.
However whole conversion was significantly slower, just first pass took about 1 minute alone. Also not sure about quality difference - some parts like text look sharper but overall scenes became somewhat blurry.
