What people did "autistic checks" for wasn't the weak zones themselves, but the exact damage percentages and HP values and the like, which the in-game feature doesn't give. All the little encyclopedia tells you is things that even non-autistic players had to learn by observation.
No, it doesn't. It provides nowhere near that precise of information, it just gives very broad star ratings, which is about the level of information Monster Hunter expects players to figure out on their own by observing the monsters. For comparison if you had the same feature in 4U, it would tell you that you can't get a Rathian Plate by killing and could only get it off of capturing/breaking/carving the tail, which is something you'd be able to figure out by playing the game yourself. On the other hand, in the case of the Zinogre Plate, while it would tell you both kills and captures give it, it would give both as "one star" and not express that a carve off the body has a 5% chance of giving the Plate, while a capture only has a 2% chance. That's why it still doesn't replace the Dex/Kiranico.
I've played the game, and you can actually just build it up fully without ever fighting the monster, it's probably faster actually since gathering tracks and crap gives so many points it's stupid. Again though, you're missing the point - because of the in-game encyclopedia and the damage numbers, players are not expected to observe the effects their attacks have on the monster like blood spurts (which have been removed anyway) or the screen shaking or the like, the game will just tell them how much damage they did straight out now and give them a rundown of the hitzones without requiring them to figure it out. If the in-game booklet had required the player to fill in the information themselves like an actual wiki, that would've been a great way to encourage the players to observe the monsters, but as it's implemented it's purely a hand-holding mechanic that distances the player from engaging in the game.
Absolutely, which is why I don't recommend new players use them.
Yeah, it's pretty ridiculous how many people get rabidly defensive over World to the point they can't even seem to read.
Damn, I missed it
Bravo Streamanon, you truly have come a long way from that Great Jaggi.
This is basically what it comes down to - World is by itself a competent enough action game, and still better than most of the crap you're going to see on the market. It's just that compared to Monster Hunter games, it's the absolute worst.
I wouldn't bet on it, that's not how companies think.
