False. Ethno-cultural nation states are a product of late 18th century Europe. Before that countries were kingdoms, where the country was the ruler's posession, or based on similar oligarchical power structures like in the Dutch United Provinces.

You are confirming what I said. Because these countries are older, they don't need a socio-economic ideology as their founding identity.

You can't found a ethno-cultural nation state of you don't have a distinct ethnicity or culture for integration. Before the concept of the nation state came up, integration would happen on a smaller scale in the family, the church or the village community.

America really isn't, even American elites shop at Walmart and McDonalds because it is convenient. The only difference is if they use a drive-through. Their society as a whole is very homogenized, the only differences being ethnicity/whatever specific flavor spook they worship and whether or not they own a home.

That's not to say it's a classless society, it clearly isn't. But through their own laziness and addiction to cheap shit they are closer to it than most of Europe or Russia.

America had been anti-communist in the way most pro-business countries had been before the Cold War. After the cold War I think both super powers wanted to differentiate themselves to an extreme. America would be ultra pro-capitalism, ultra-conservative in it's values and ultra religious. Cultures in opposition often do this like France and Britain before they become ass buddies. One would go in a more positive emancipatory direction and the other would go further towards even more feudalism. It would bounce backwards and sideways sometimes, but they liked defining themselves by what they perceived they weren't.

Uniquely America already had a divided populace in the sense that racism put a large cloud over any thing the government did. It was easy to demonize anything socialists did as being pro-negro and or deeply triggering and problematic. Within subjugated races people like Booker T and modern day Thomas Sowell would emphasize the need for "black business owners to exist" in order to free themselves from bondage. This often divided the revolutionary potential among radical populations.

Post cold war, the CIA went on a massive propaganda program, largely by supporting center left anti communist "leftists" in the media and the arts. In conjunction with their covert anti communist actions in Europe and American cities, this caused the downfall and legitimization of the hard left in American consciousness, supplanted by the center left, which does not oppose the larger capitalist power structure

I've been thinking about this lately, and I think Cognitive Behavioral Therapy may have part of the answer.

Mainly the part about cognitive distortions, specifically the "Heaven's Reward Fallacy": expecting all of your "good deeds" to net you a great reward in the end.

This is all conjecture, but I feel like there's a certain aspect of American mythology based upon essentially the Heaven's Reward Fallacy: that if you "work hard" and "follow the rules" someday you'll be rewarded with the "American Dream." Of course when this turns out not to be the case, ultimately the failure is blamed not on society for lying to you but that the reward was essentially stolen from you by the "rule-breakers"/transgressors, be it illegal immigrants, people on welfare, communists, minorities, protestors, whatever. Since these people are not suffering for their violations of the rules (as the natural order of things would entail) it must be they who have stolen "Heaven's Reward."
