Hey niggers, Rebellion just released a remaster of Battlezone 2.
What is it?
It's a mix of RTS and FPS where you kill Space commies.
Here's the torrent

No GOG torrent yet, I'll post it when it's available.
Again?
Call me when somebody remakes Uprising.
Thanks for the link.
Sure, right after NightDive remakes Terra Nova
I JUST want to play Uprising using my two hands without having to graft on additional fingers or wrists.
Didn't they release a remake of Battlezone already last year?
Yeah, they remastered the first Battlezone Reebot yesteryear, Battlezone 98.
This one is a remaster of the sequel of the reboot
jesus
Played a bit of the first mission. First thing that struck me was FAF missiles targeting friendlies. I either forgot they could do that or it's a new feature. Second was the Scion Scout had a weird ability in that getting too close meant you couldn't fire your weapons. I think that one's new.
Lights look great from outside the cockpit but inside it's like shining a torch into a field at night, very little actual illumination. I think I'm either more accurate with mortars then I was before or the AI is bugging and keeping still during battle.
It's a decent port at least. But there's a modded version of BZ2 original with widescreen fixes and the like on piratebay that I think handles a bit better.
They took out Gamespy and Pandemic from the opening cut-scene. Given that both are gone but still.
Also this new one they really upped the unit models, you can see the grills on the front of the Sabre tank.
They've included the original staff in the credits, even an indian studio that helped with this port.
Nice, I'll just need to finish Homeworld and I'll be playing this.
Is this a remake of the remake?
It's a redux of Battlezone 2 by Pandemic back in 1999.
Have they fixed the bugs? If they've only done that and improved the graphics, I'll be happy.
I thought the Scion were the results of a project by the Black Dogs, an NSDF special force.
Regardless, I've already done my time with Battlezone 2 in my youth and am not really satisfied doing any more. I'd be interested in knowing if there are any other such hybrids like it out there.
Executive Assault is the closest thing I can think of
that's only the first game
second is fighting former special forces under the command of an autistic general
I thought you killed space commies in both
Shame
Unit pathing and AI is still the same mess it was back when this game was brand spanking new.
This is the first PC game I ever played. Kind of surreal to see it remastered. Doesn't look like the Forgotten Enemies expansion is included though. That's a real shame.
Something's up with the torrent. It keeps on shitting itself at 35% calling out a error.
Likely client side
Torrent works fine last time I checked
I forgot how bad it was, but I just got done playing an IA game as ISDF against Scion, and the game was stalled for almost an hour because despite pushing back all enemy forces into their main, the enemy Jammer prevented me from telling my allies to attack, and if I ordered them near the enemy base, they wouldn't even bother to retaliate against any unit invisible on radar. Now I remember why I stopped bothering to play this.
how do you play this game in multiplayer? i've been trying to get it to work with some other fag but it seems like we can not join eachother since we both are stuck with the [CODEX] ingame name. how do you change this? or how do you get the multiplayer to work?
Why hasn't anyone made a Tribes 2 Remaster? Literally why not?
Because these people own that franchise now.
Why don't they just sell it then? How much do you think the rights would be?
It's their ace when their ASSFAGGOTS/CRAPCUNTS go down like the flavour of the month garbage they are.
Tribes has brand name and a loyal autistic fanbase behind it, if Hi Rez ends up having financial issues they can just pump out a new Tribes no matter how shit it is, milk some fans and see some of it's money back.
E-Sports.
Tribes 2 was a game where I would spend hours repairing generators, deploying turrets and murdering people who think they can use a cloak pack. Also using the command circuit to cheese laser rifle headshots many klicks beyond the draw distance, I think I had a record or two on Miami Vehicles doing that
Everything has to be Ultra-competitive turbo 1337 gaming these days; there's no room for that sort of gameplay anymore.
If they will even sell; publishers tend to collect these IPs not so much to exploit them, but to prevent the exploitation by others.
