How do you make this game fun? And what are some better space-empire games out there?
Stellaris
uninstalling it was pretty fun
This is one of the few games that feel like waste of time
Bump
Rather play masters of orion even if its easier
by not posting in a duplicate thread
Stellaris was the only game I've been so disappointed in so quickly that I actually bothered to ask for a refund on Steam.
You can't. warscore is fucking broken
Bump
Remove sectors.
Remove warscore.
Increase time to leave combat by x10.
Buff ground combat racial bonuses by x10.
No penalties to open fire after any FTL movement.
Make ships move in the predefined combat formation (can make your own), same formation remains in combat.
1: Stop changing the game so drastically and/or so constantly
2: Cool it with the 8k+ stacks of hostile niggers that can fuck your shit up at the very beginning of the game
3. War Exhaustion needs to stop, or be less gay
4. Less war, more civilization crafting
5. Something to make the casino that is the early game less "well you're fucked"/"well you're golden"
Go play distant worlds if you haven't. It's my favorite, I'm just a bit tired of it after playing it over and over and over again.
What's wrong with the thread we already had?
No sectors means you have to micromanage 50 planets and that gets tedious even with only 5. Complete warscore removal means at some point the AI will just keep on printing out ships because lol cheating AI, and also it would make the already shallow war system even worse. It's flawed at its base the warscore is only a symptom.
Yeah no kidding. I played a couple of games, first of which i got stomped and harassed from day 1 because there was literally only 1 planet i could colonize in the 1/4th of the galaxy i conquered, and in the second i won in less than half the time it took me on the first as i spawned away from marauders, near non-aggressive AI, with good RNG because only 1 pirate spawned that bothered destroying stuff, and planets fucking everywhere. Both were on the same settings.
it's full of shitpost
I keep hearing it get mentioned but it has even lower reviews than Stellaris. Is it actually good?
Not really, it may seem complex at first but that too is a shallow game. I'd say try it but after doing so myself and spending many hours on it i wouldn't recommend wasting the time.
Dead spaceports. Nope.
Buzzword.
Warscore is toxic :^)
What the game needs is a auto builder with some sort of limited scriptability and an alert when the script runs out of anything to do:
That way you could make sectors do something other than being "all planets the AI is running into the ground", maybe give sectors a political function according to the type of empire you run (with designated sector capitals).
the forced sector thing should be removed entirely and the planet limit bumped or removed, because it means nothing for the AI, there's no balance there.
I think sectors were added for performance reasons, but don't quote me on that
The main performance problem the Clausewitz engine has apparently lies in the way the interface acesses all kinds of data and values from the main loop that runs the game.
That was rewritten for considerable performance gains in the CK2 branch but hasn't been ported to the other games running on it.
Sectors were added because their dumb AI can't compete with human micromanagement (see how AI "successfully" governs sectors). So they removed human micro.
Make a working in-game economical model.
Add trade, trade routes, civilian industry, resource scarcity.
Add culture, religion/ideology mechanics.
Add espionage, subversion as mechanics.
Make rebellions actually a threat and a possibility.
Add meaningful planetary invasion mechanics.
Add internal political management and internal power struggles that tie into the espionage/subversion mechanics.
Add population control mechanics, appeasement, repressions, bread and circus.
Add population growth mechanics. Currently each race breeds at a set rate still. If you have a mono-racial empire, populating planets quickly is a massive pain in the ass, even if you have robots.
Make population density a mechanic, allowing the player to cram more pops on a planet until it's turned into a planetopolis. Add benefits and drawbacks obviously.
Allow us to colonize any rock floating in space. The current planet type system is complete ass. For example, why can't a continental race colonize a tropical planet? It's total bullshit.
Fix warscore that does it's damnest to artificially limit violent expansion and instead implement organic measures that punish such behavior such as the empire's culture disintegrating and fragmenting it, slave rebellions, populace being genocided rebelling, nearby civs attacking you, nearby civs creating containment coalitions against you, nearby civs economically isolating you. The refugee system is actually interesting despite it being made because paracucks are a bunch of virtue signalling cucks. It's however too simplistic and needs expanding.
Fix combat so it's not frigate wars or blob wars or whatever the fuck is the meta right now. Implement a RPS hard counter mechanic for the different ship types. Buff defenses to make them a real pain in the ass to break through and an actually viable option, but make them expensive as fuck to maintain so they are only placed in spots of strategic importance. instead of spammed all over the fucking place. Allow fleets to flee instead of getting obliterated 100% in one deciding battle, but increase repair times significantly as well as make them much more expensive. Add an organization mechanic that punishes blobbing your entire force into one chunk by making each individual ship preform increasingly worse the bigger the fleet is. This is mitigated by the commander, but only slightly.
Add meaningful planetary invasion mechanics. Ground combat as it is right now is fucking pathetic and might as well not be in the game at all.
Remove mana mechanics on recruiting commanders/scientists, etc. Instead allow me to have as many as I fucking need and can afford. I'd rather have them all be paid a hefty salary, but having as many as I need instead of being limited by some arbitrary bullshit.
Write this shit down and take it to your boss, tell him he's a massive cuck that sucks nigger dicks.
Nigger when was the last time you played? You can colonize everything save for Tomb Worlds right from the start but have to deal with a happiness and productivity penalty.
I mean right away from the get go. Not researching any tech or doing any gene modification or anything. Just send a fucking colony ship to a planet with a breathable atmosphere and livable temperatures, that's it. At best tech should be for shit like colonizing asteroids and dead worlds.
How do I create a >>>/soyboys/ government? Would they be highly individualist or highly collectivist? I know they are a hive-mind but they also shill for a lot of individualist behavior, especially when discussing women's rights.
by playing EU4 instead
Cultural death mechanic. Culture becomes degenerate and decadent and starts demanding destructive policies.
Yes, but there's a method to their madness, how do they do it?
Pic related.
Finally.
Good thread.

what a waste of hitlerdubs
I still have fun with the game, but jesus fucking christ why did they have to fucking Neuter 2 FTL methods?
@14397709
You wanted this (You)?
Too bad, you're not getting it.
...
remember to sage, goyim.
I've been wanting to try it out for some time but it's shit like this that makes me too confused to do so. Can somebody explain what's going on? The only thing I know about Stellaris is the AI tends to grossly overestimate their army.
Look at months to complete tech in the panel on the left and see it decrease as I remove systems. It means that at some point (I started to do it once I got voidborn) you should get rid of all non-essential systems. Planets are better for minerals and unity, while habitats are better for energy and tech.
There's literally a game series called Space Empires. Try out IV and V.
Nah, the game isn't confusing. You can try it but it's only fun for like a day or two before it becomes repetitive and boring.
Ignored like a bitch, heh
rollan
I see. I thought those screenshots were taken at different points in time at first.
Ok. Thanks for the answer.
Yes
roll
bump
Consider suicide
Played some sword of the stars and it was alright. What other games are like that?
fuck it, lets roll.
I take it that 2.0 didn't make it good yet
i think it's great but I just started a few days ago. i'm sure all of the shit is being covered up by the new game feel
The game is good in concept but poor in execution. Once you hit the mid-game you'll start noticing shit like how sector governor AI is completely useless, how the AI players are absolutely retarded when it comes to diplomacy, how performance gets worse and worse, how the UI gets in the way, how combat is too simple, how warfare in general is a mess. I could go on, really. I still play it sometimes when I feel like autistically roleplaying something, but I can't call it a good game.
