What bothers me the most is why would they remove it if they were content with the revenue and player count? I'm not defending Unbound, but it's just strange.
Paladins to remove pay-to-win Unbound system

If the profits are solid enough that it can keep them afloat for a while that can be one reason. I dont play the game, but if they can find other means of revenue (optional, better looking costumes, extra merch, etc) then with the voices from both company and player complaining about what would ultimately kill game balance (if it's a pay 2 win thing) would be to better to listen too, even if landwhales are spending stupid amounts of money on it and new players are doing it out of necessity.
because they're lying and it actually tanked player counts, but they're trying to save face
Dubs thread.
at what date did they start with this anyway? I haven't been keeping up with paladins for a while now.
I dropped the game around the time they nerfed all the movement abilities.
I think Cards Unbound has been introduced with OB 64 in early december, but it had a public test server since november or something like that.
That's because HiRez are a bunch of liars. It's a well-known part of their history that they'll say one thing while the truth is the opposite of what they're claiming, especially when it comes to covering their asses. These guys are kinda retarded when it comes to spin.
well I looked at the patch notes and apparently it was introduced on the 29th of november. If the steam charts are anything to go by that means that the player base was already dropping before this hit the PTR. I don't know what they did before this but it cant have been good.
