Anyway, elona is a great beginner roguelike since there's no permadeath and no penalty for dying for the first few levels. As far as controls go, just keep the wiki page open and remember to control your character with the number pad instead of the arrow keys and you'll get used to them eventually.

The Z menu that lets you select an action was added specifically for people like you.

I've been in these threads before and I've seen people talking about having loli GF prostitutes magically turn into bread and all kinds of crazy shit like this and it sounds fun as fuck. But the one times I tried it, all the options and actions overwhelmed me. Maybe I'll give it another try if what you're saying about learning the things over time is true.

It took me restarting at least 3-4 characters to really get hooked, it's a really addictive game once you get into the swing of things

I've been tracking my healing skill, it seemed to stop increasing, regardless of my potential.

How many do you have now?

Around 8, but most of them are at the discarded ranch. These things make excellent walls (they have the same life as the fire dragon child) and have some deadly attacks of their own.

Unfortunately they are level 170, and have limited body parts. But I'm grinding that shit up quickly so I can turn these (and other pets) into killing machines.

It also weighs 34s, but that can be fixed with a shit ton of flying scrolls.

Is there a ranking for gods?

You can increase favor with gods by offering corpses and a specific god dependant item-type at an altar. They don't have rankings as such just an amount of favor you have with them which increases the bonuses they give to you.

By that you mean which one is the best? Jure's first reward, the defender pet, can save one ally (including you) from dying, recharges on sleep, so get that at some point. If you're a mage you'll need Itzpalt's second reward to boost elemental spells. Kumiromi is the best because you regenerate stamina at a high rate, so you can spam special abilities. Other than that, just worship whatever you feel like to get rewards.

Also, does anyone know how I can change my chara's sprite after character creation?

Can't you do it with an ether mirror or the mirror at palmia?

I forgot to spend AP for the longest time (it caps at 2000! spend it!) so I got this ability. the damage would be closer to 30k against a level 80-100 boss but that's still really nice.

It's a suicide attack that freezes the entire map in ice tiles. I think it inflicts the same amount of damage as a nuke, it also casts a 1turn Death Word on the user.

Eternal force weapons have a very small (~1%) chance to kill damaged characters instantly. In elo+ they can also be used to remove the effect, deal a large amount of damage to everything in the area and freeze the map over.

Your potentials will always lower over time. You'll need to figure out how to get a steady supply of potions of potential OR food to make large picnic baskets(I prefer picnic baskets)

If you're referring to skills, I don't know, try going to a trainer and seeing how high you can go. Attribute potential %'s are hidden but in your character sheet the highest they go is "Superb"

Does anyone know where ogres spawn? I've been doing level 50-ish dungeons and have run into 2 during my entire playtime. I just want the pants.

I think they spawn randomly in level 50 dungeons, I've never noticed a preference for them in any specific dungeon type but I could be wrong.

I know this dosn't decrease the chance of one appearing in the future and is therefore completely irrelevant but it's still so annoying to have happen.

More precisely it's not random or over time, as You improve related skills, the potential decreases and as you improve skills your stats go up and as they do they also lose potential.

Training potential for skills is fairly easy as you just spend PP or level-up trains to increase them.

Stat potentials are more of a bitch and mainly require eating good foods and sleeping on nice beds.

The easiest way get additional potential early game is to buy a rogue wizard from the slave market who comes with the cooking skill and sleep so that you will wake up in the middle morning and get a free breakfast, later you can splice that cooking skill into a desired pet with the gene machine.

If you're specifically talking about the quest, you can marry a horse and then give it to him for bonus karma.

Hang out at Derphys and complete quests for a while then. You could also do party quests for the occasional lost wallet and incognito yourself into towns to turn them in.

I've been playing off an on (alt-tabbing) and like suddenly I was a criminal and all the guards impaled themselves on my weapons and the cost of fixing it (half a million) is way out of reach. After playing this game for like 100hrs I have no idea how I suddenly went from 20 to -40.. but whatever.. meh

Seriously, when you're high level, you'll be drinking potions of potential after like every dungeon you clear, because even "good" potential isn't fast enough.

Any tips for raising speed other than throwing AP at it? Just eat hundreds of shoes? I know speed uppers raise it by one, but they also max the potential and I want to use that to raise speed as well.

Hermes blood from garok's, herb'd food when your speed potential is high, picnic baskets.

Make sure to bless the Hermes blood before quaffing to double its effect. And always drink a speed upper right after, since potential tends to suffer a bit with Hermes blood.

Yes, but I think they'd be good to train the skill with. Someone can correct me if I'm wrong but I assume you'd do really sub-par damage at low levels

I like the soundtrack but I mostly mute the sound so I can listen to something else.

It is a good soundtrack and I keep finding nice BGM disks, but as the amount of time I'm looking at applying to this game increases the more I think I should get to some albums I want to hear. I somewhat remember something about remixed BGM as well but I don't recall what or where it was.

If you don't have the elona custom gamplay tweak on then it shouldn't be a problem to load up on pv and just attack/heal spam. He'll summon monsters but those shouldn't be a problem either. If you have a fast, ranged pet it'll draw aggro aswell and he won't really be able to hit it so that gives you free hits. He has no ranged attacks and dosn't deal elemental damage that I know of.

I know this is a bit late but some unanswered questions long ago, incase anyone still needs this information:

There are two permanant souvenir traders that I know of: one in North Tyris in Larna and one in South Tyris in Arcbelc. These traders keep their store level when you invet in them since they are permanant unlike those that you would encounter at the festivals.
Larna is at the bottom right of the map on top of a mountain, to get to it you have to go throught he mountainpass dungeon located nearby. Once you have visited Larna it is added to the list of areas you can return to and also has a mage in the inn near the top right that casts return on you for free, so it only takes one source of return to get there and back.

To change the font the game uses you can go into the config file. There is a line with that has the english and japanese fonts the game uses. You can change this font to whatever is currently installed on the system by changeing the name to the right of this line.

Both travelling and swimming train the speed attribute in eloan+, although it is kinda slow.

Disregard what I said, he only attacks while next to you which I assumed meant melee attack but it can be spells aswell. If you have dimensional move or other sources of teleporting then it still shouldn't be a problem since hes not all that fast and you can tele and heal if you need to.

How do I get pic related to replace a sprite for a pet? Not all pets of that race, just my pet.

put it in the /user/graphics folder, call it Pic_# (replace # with a number greater than 1) and shapechange your pet into it by [i]nteracting with it. These sprites overwrite the user graphic squares on your spritesheet without having to edit the sheet itself so there are a limited number of them and half of them are doubl ehight sprites.

What size does it need to be?

48x48 for Pic_2 - Pic_16 or 48x96 for Pic_17 - Pic_18.

Well I went through all that effort, so I may as well share.

If you look at the char sheet you can see where the user graphics start, the square where 1 would be is always blank (along with the one above it). I have no idea why it can't be 1 though, you'd have to go code diving to find out. Since the portraits or pccs arn't on the sheet I don't know why this is the way to do it anyway, presumably there is an issue with making a characters walking sprite call a seperate sheet but it shouldn't be that hard to change, especially considering everything else that has been added/modified.

If you are trading goods with similar prices in the starting and ending locations and not making a profit it could be due to the random element in the prices.

Level them. Much easier, and much better equipped, too.

The advantage of building up a pet that starts at low level is that getting AP is based on how low your INI stat is. A pet that starts at level 50 would need to kill much higher level enemies to get AP.

Can you go full Re:Monster and get skills by eating equipment and fallen enemies?

Corpses and equipment only train skills and attributes; they don't grant them.

Gene splicing does though and it's easy as fuck

Couldn't you ear degraded into meat rings to get stats?

You can eat "raw" equipment, but it only trains, that is, gives experience towards, attributes and skills. Some will also grant a temporary experience boosting hex for attributes. You can't get new skills by doing this though, so you need at least 1 level in a skill you want to train that way.
Corpses have a wide variety of effects when eaten; a lot of them will train attributes.

If I make a gene with a dragon will my new character be some half dragon shitter?

You pick what race you're born as. Half-breeds don't even exist on Irva as far as I know.

No, gene files are really just there to transfer belongings that are on your character at the time, they don't effect anything at the actual character you just go through char gen as usual.

I don't use bows/crossbows but if I did I wouldn't bother with a ballista.

If you're a mage with a ranged pet, I guess it might boost your damage occasionally. You'd probably want to convert it to an adamantium repeating crossbow, though.

Ballistas are pretty bad overall but it could work with an adamantium/ether (depending on wether you want to wield it or are giving it to a pet) material kit as these have extremely high damage multipliers and low hit multipliers (hit multipliers work the same for positive and negative hit chances as does dv/pv mult. making very low stats in those areas desireable for negative base stats). Since selling it won't net you alot if you don't want to invest in it just throw it in a shed and come back to it once you have a better feel for what is useful (once you enter act II you can get an item that tells you the exact values for attributes which would be useful for the invoke). In genera invokes are pretty useless though unless they buff they're just too random to be relied upon.

Those are only needed for godly items. A miracle item like that can be changed with scrolls of superior material.

Except scrolls don't work on living weapons.

So I just found out that statues of the gods don't share cooldowns which means you can duplicate the statue of yacatect through the little sister quest and generating an average of 20,718.75gp, 0.2 platinum and 0.0375 small medals per statue per day.

Correct tho it is usually used to get multiple kumiromi statues for herb seeds

Any suggestions on how to summon a god to get the final item from them? Are the only ways to wait for month 11 and to use a wish for it? I want to switch from Jure now that I have all the other items but it feels wrong to not get the final one after all the investment.

those are the only ways afaik.
The abyssal palace could speed up time for you to help in the first method.
They generally arent very good imo, the fetters of earth and sasumata are the only ones with practical uses i can think of.

Well I want to get them anyway because completionist but they do have some purpose. When a skill is lower it trains faster so you can equip the piece, train the related skills and then take it back off. This makes the tempest collar and mechanical binder extremely valuable.

Until the map resets or you remand them, so they stay eternally in static locations (such as your home).

Yeah you can do that although you don't have to use the rod of wish to get them in your house. You can invite them in if your house is rank 1.

It'll only turn into stardust if you have a duplicate of it in your inven or your pet's inven. If you're so worried, take the cheese, fruit, or gem stone.

Only precious (non-randomly generated) equipment artifacts turn into stardust when duplicated.

It dosn't have to be ugly…
How do you get rods of wish though? Farming?

I'm not sure how I got mine, think it was either a random drop or a board quest reward.

Does anyone have any good guess as to the accuracy of late game (in late act 2 and 3) enemies? I really can't make a good descision on wether to invest in PV or DV (going to be going mixed anyway but I need to know how much evade is enough).

I'm smack dab in the middle of act 2 (just beat the mobile communications system) and have 283/244 DV/PV so I'd say 300 is the bare minimum. For what it's worth other than a few enemies that have retarded normal attacks like god race enemies the most threatening things can't be dodged like special actions, gauge attacks, and magic. Nether resist is pretty important.

If I eat corpses that train magic restistance, does it actually permanently increase that resistance type? I made a ranch of fairies because I read on the wiki that their corpses train magic resist, and since I've been eating them it's gone from saying "little" to "strong", but the number of ###'s has stayed the same. How does this work exactly?

What do you guys normally do for pets in general?

I usually keep little girls/sisters because I remember some people saying they have nice growth stats, I always end up being a long range fighter so I usually keep one with really heavy equipment, another with dual wielding and another for more range/magic if I ever find one with that.
You can also try to find class changer bills and use it on your pets if you can't find something specific

Each corpse only offers a 50# increase in resistance and will never exceed past 200(normal). So you'll have to make up for the rest using equipment. I guess resistance gained by corpse could be considered semi-permanent, since the only actual way to lose them is through "monster dreams".

I make sure all of my pets are around to see as a I slaughter the adorable fairies in front of their mother breeder. Each one of them will share in the delicious delicacy of an herb-in fairy steak.

Just remember to give them ores so that they can train up their skill potentials. Also keep in mind that if you're going to run with a large amount of melee pets that you're going to need to take the time to level each one up individually since 1-2 of them will kill most enemies that you don't and so the weaker ones won't get much exp. I'm currently running with 5 pets right now:

Only give rock god junk stones, the more valuable ores don't give you any more favor than less valuable ones so give gold bars and other more expensive ores to your pets and offer junk stones to the god

Besides fire dragon child and god pets, I like young ladies since disaster potions (after evolution) can do some pretty horrible things and they're 100 life humanoids.

Stockpile junk stones and offer them, they're worth the same amount of god favour as any other.

What tier of cooking does the microwave oven allow?

You can't cook with the microwave, it's an aesthetic piece of furniture

You can use anything to cook regardless of skill level, the stuff you can't it's because they're just furniture

I'm still raising the same starter pets I had since the beginning, perhaps out of some sappy sentimentalism. Other than the low ap costs, there's probably nothing really special about them though.

The strongest of them is my Valkyrie, very first little girl pet. Two-hand claymore with machine-gun.
An evolved warrior of Elea with dual-wield and longbow.
An Asura with time-stop and "it adds additional attack" equipment.

Anyone here have any good experience with pet evolution? I just got a evolution heart and i was wondering what to use it on, looking at the wiki, two options stood out, one of them was Valiant wyvern which I've seen once in a high level dungeon the other one was Yerles elite machine infantry which I can buy from the slave trader at level 34 (I am level 30 right now). Another option was my little girl which has been fighting by my side from the beginning of my quest. Pic unrelated.

Any pets that gain speed upon evolution should be evolved after they reach their max speed via AP.

Use farms exclusively for herbs. Get some animal with high breeding power and turn it into jerky for some nice money.

If you are worshiping Kumiromi, set up a farm right next to the truce ground.

Make a shop to sell shit you grow on your farm.

Once you get to 100 cooking at least, you'll be making a shit ton of gold since you'll double your cooking.

Cooked food typically takes days to rot, so you'll be fine resting up to regain stamina. Also if you're just going to sell the food in a food shop I'm pretty sure that rotten food sells for the same price as regular food

Just (R)est whenever you get tired, and continue cooking again when your SP gets full. Shit takes several days to even grow. Also you should be planting and picking in the rain to keep your plants from dying.

Also you can drop rotten food onto the compost so you can get fertilizer to help budding plants become ready for harvest.

The higher the 'harvest time' quest, the higher the chance of getting herb seeds (they are only second to 'artifact seeds' in rarity). If you are worshiping kumiromi and have the cute fairy pet then you can feed it high grade food when it is hungry, in exchange for seeds. the easiest way to get seeds this way is if you go to sleep in a city inn, after you wake up, you go to the city baker, buy some rank 5 food and give it to the cute fairy.

Im surprised that after all these years the devs never made a feat or something that lowers the sp usage when cooking, not even having a sp reduction by using great material equipment, what a shame

Or at very least take less SP with higher skill level. Out of all the crafting options, cooking's the only one that takes stamina.
I'd rather have all crafting take some turns like reading books does than having an sp cost to it, considering there's already a cost of raw materials anyway to cooking.

Yes, with a low gardening skill, your plants have a high risk of dying when not being planted and harvested in rainy weather.

Herbs especially have a higher chance for this to happen. Also blessing seeds doesn't do shit.

I see an option to teach pets active skills in ElonaC, but that never raises above 0% for me. How do I teach them?

So far what I've done is teach them something like Fire Breath and then set up their AI to use it sometimes.
They don't always use it but ocasionnaly they do.
I think it goes up a bit everytime they use it and once it's fully learned, you can teach something else?
I'm not sure of this, all I know is that they seem to be having a better time not hiting me with the breath attacks and having corpses auto-cooked is pretty fun\usefull.

Have their first priority be to shadow step if the distance to the target is greater 4 or less. They'll fail very often but every success reduces the chance to fail until it works every time.

the "tips" in fortune cookies are all pretty much useless and mean nothing, in fact some are straight-up red herrings if I remember correctly

There are false fortunes and true fortunes, which you get depends on wether the cookie is cursed or blessed with equal chance if it's normal.

You can convert altars to the god you are worshiping by offering something at the altar in the same way you would normally use to gain favor. The chance of converting an altar is dependant on the quality of the offering with items giving 25 or more favor seemingly never failing. Converting also multiplies the favor gain of the offering by 5x so it's best to use 10s+ corpses or at the very least favored offerings.

If anyone else is interested in this scrolls of growth always appear on souvenir vendors whenever they restock. This might be an "easy" way to get them but it is quite tedious as they cost 3.5M.

It might also be a reference to the h sister quest in act 2.

In older versions you used to get loads of them trading for sox with the looking universe, now I just get them from trading for medals at Garok's Workshop. But then there's the issue with medals. The most I can acquire is by both reading treasure maps(they're cheaper at those vendors), then opening the loot during a luck boost. There's also rushing low level dungeons. Because in all honestly, 3.5mil is a fricken ripoff.

You should kill bards whenever you see them, they often drop thousands of gold. There's no karma plenty and they respawn so there's no reason not to.

There's an item in the game that lets you change sex for roleplay purposes I think. Trap or not you can fuck just about anything anyway so there's really no need for trickery besides just chucking alcohol at anything you feel like dicking.

Search for hidden passages.

Just go to the end of those corridors and search around (by pressing NUMPAD5 or Enter I think)
After a while, it will make a wall disapear and you'll get to see another corridor to walk around.
You can also use Scrolls of Magical Mapping or cast that spell yourself to reveal most of the dungeon level and that works a bit too.

's' is (s)earch, I dunno about the enter key but numpad 5 or spacebar might do it automatically

It would definitely give you pause to think if you want cold hard cash and a chance reroll or a shot at a better item. Perhaps an expensive way to convert an item that has a rarity of Great or lower to a living item.

I should really work on my performance skill, I've never really used it before

So far I don't know if it's worth it, it took awhile just to get this far and each performance nets around 1k gold and a cape or a shoe.

If you don't care about people throwing items at you, teaching pets performer and using the ensemble wide skill WAY out performs your solo performance, which can be really good for high level party times.

Panic! quests seem to replace yet suck compared to hunting quests, 1/3 the cost 3x the time to clear, pets die too often. wtf?

as soon as I hit 30 performer, I was able to clear parties with like 3x bonus because of my 5 waifus all have performer. I usually do ensemble and finish off with a solo with my Stradivarius.
